Just everyday browsing uses more than you would think.

Google's Reeder app is great for catching up on dozens of sites without using much data.

I did one app update over 3G and it was like 30MB, then I decided to do the rest under WiFi, no life-or-death urgency to updating an app.

I'd much rather be playing a game on the iPhone than streaming a movie/tv show if I have any significant amount of time to kill, and games use next to no data, so I'll probably never hit the 200MB monthly limit.

That would not even be close to 2gb. I used to stream shit over my entire lunch daily when I commuted and never made it to 2 gig.

Um.. yes it would be. I hit around 8Gb in May and almost 9Gb in June. No tethering. All iPhone.

So as someone who's late to the party: I need a phone. Want an iPhone 4. And I realize I'm in for a bit of a wait. Having never purchased anything from the US Apple Store or ATT, which store would likely see less of a wait?

Also, any word on when these will be on sale in Hong Kong?

did anyone go with a 32GB iPhone?

wondering what's most popular amongst GAF.
At first, I was leaning towards the 16GB because I don't even have more than 2GB of music, but I'm planning on using the iPhone 4 to take alot of photos and record video, and I heard that the photos and video can take up a bit of space (2.7MB per photo and 83MB/min for video recording). So now I'm thinking about getting the 32GB.

I still have a month until my current AT&T contract expires, so I have some time to mull it over.

I had used a 16 GB first-gen iPod Touch for two years before getting the iPhone, and with the amount of music and apps I had installed, the 32 GB was a natural choice even if I have about 10 GB of free space, and now that's including photos and video.

word. my 16GB 3G is at around 2GB free with only 1 500MB video on it. I'm thinking by the time I take some photos and videos, I'll have wished I had gone bigger.

I'm just trying to decide if I want to keep this 32GB one (yet unopened) or buy a 16GB version (now in stock at my local Best Buy).

I was planning on going with 16gb to save $, but seeing how big the video is, I will be going with 32gb WHITEY

I went with 16gb. Still have my Zune HD for music (I'd rather go with the better battery) and I probably won't store a ton of stuff on the phone. Any videos that get put on it will be for vacation purposes and deleted a day or two later. I prefer to read on planes anyway.

Do you have Parkinson's?

You're shaking.

I hope not. :/ My hands aren't even as steady as they used to be, but when I was in bed using the phone I guess my constant turning and tossing prompted "Nothing to Undo," but good to know! Thanks.

So The_Inquisitor finally got his. Am I the last GAFfer standing? My 6/15 preorder is STILL backordered. My buddied texted me this morning saying "OMG LETS FACETIME." I asked where he got his iPhone; he wandered into Best Buy yesterday and picked it up in ten minutes. Urge to kill... rising...

Hey man my order still shows processing online. Your phone may have already shipped. Trust me, don't believe the site or their customer support.

Yeah I think the 6mb was from stumbling into the neogaf web app w/ pictures on. I turned off everything. My only concern is that my MLB app is going to get me into trouble eventually. :lol :lol

Edit: That reminds me. I need a RSS client so that I don't have to pay/use a separate app for each news site. Reeder seems quite popular. What do you guys and gals recommend. Low bandwidth is a plus.

I kept the $30 unlimited for both me and my wife, even though it's probably ridiculous. I sometimes get close to 2GB, and will get closer once I jailbreak the phone to tether my iPad, but she doesn't get anywhere near it. But I just can't bring myself to switch, even though I would most likely save $240 over the two-year contract.

32GB here as well. It's an extra $100 for a phone you're going to be using at least a year, in my case two. If I use this phone for two years, it's $0.14 a day. Well worth the peace of mind knowing that it's at least semi-future proof... and I can record more video than I want!:D

So what cases you using?

I was set on the Griffin Reveal until I saw this review (the photo problem):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgJaSe9RfsI

Anything good out there?

Seeing that review, I'm glad I didn't go with that case. I went with the Belkin Grip Vue, and it works pretty well.

I had the glare issue, but I heard if you run a black sharpie around the rim of the cases camera cut out, it eliminates the glare. The trick worked for me. :)

Nah no pr0n. I don't have wifi at work and I watch a lot of vids on giant bomb and stuff. Unlike YouTube that turns the quality to shite when on 3G, those are fairly high quality MP4 files that look great but require a lot of bandwidth.

What software is everyone using for DVD to iPhone conversions? I was using Cucsoft, but all my precious 3G converts look like crap on my Retina. :lol

just gotta say this phone is pretty amazing

the display is insane the camera is pretty awesome

I really love this phone

eff the antenna haters

and it feels awesome? weird

people hesitating or waiting(shipments n whatnot)

it's worth the wait and don't hesitate lol

edit: forgot to ask uhhh giant bomb does mp4s?

what other game sites are iPhone safe?

Nope, mine's coming in next Wednesday. It's no sweat off my back tho. I'm just mad that the site didn't want to accept my pre-order early, and that my line-waiting was to no avail.

Is there any words on a firmware update to fix the Atenna issue?

or will it have to be done in a Iphone revision?
software may help some, but it's a hardware design issue principally. '

antennae hardware redesign required.

Huh? I was under the impression he was talking about the Google Reader web app.
He spelled it Reeder. Arguably (but not really) the best RSS reader on the App Store for both iPad and iPhone. Freudian slip, perhaps?

Ahhh ok, gotcha. I never heard of the Reeder app before, I'll have to check it out. I've always just used the Google Reader web app.

Lol mistyped on my iPhone somehow. Yeah I was wondering if Reeder was worth the money versus Google Reader.

Why do you guys even have a phone with a data plan if you're so terrified of actually using it?

I would imagine because data is no longer unlimited and AT&T rapes you for going over. Who wouldn't be careful in monitoring their usage because of that, especially if they're new to data plans?

I did mean Reeder, the $3 app, or whatever it was. Figured it was google just because it interfaces with your google stuff, but I see/know now it is not! Awesome app, well worth making a google account and configuring RSS through to use.

It needs a few improvements, like search and the ability to add feeds in the program itself, but otherwise it's very nice.

I've never had a smartphone/data plan before. Thus I have no idea what my usage entails yet in terms of actual data consumption. Marty is spot on.

So reeder is worth the 3 bucks over google reader?

Preordering at Radioshack was such an epic fail on my part. They haven't gotten any iPhones much less the 32gb unit that I'm #1 on the reserve list for.

Went in to Apple to get on the Priority List there. ;-(

A big yes from me. Reeder on iPhone (and perhaps more so on iPad) is well worth the money. super fast, great UI, easy to star, send to instapaper, RIL, etc. very well done.

I see everyone recommending this app and I'm looking for an RSS reader; can anyone elaborate why this is better than other RSS feed apps?

Same. I am most likely going to buy and download when I get home, but would like to know why.

It's an effective way to see RSS feeds, I have folders for categories of feeds (with the unread amount listed for each folder), each folder has 4-5 feeds in it, and I just start the app, hit a folder and instantly have all the new feeds from that folder mixed together chronologically, then hit a single button and they are all marked read and at the same time I am returned to my directory of other feed folders.

It's a nice simple relaxing way to view feeds I guess, things don't have to do a whole lot to be worth $3 for me, so I just bought it and didn't think twice :)

TBH, it looks an awful lot like the google reader from their website, probably just animated slicker, I'm not sure. I have to do more clicking through google than I would through my feeder apps to get my info kept in categories. And I get nice little icons of the site next to the item when the feeds are mixed, so I know which site the news is from before I read/expand it.
