CrankyJay said:Does leaving bluetooth enabled on the iPhone4 affect the battery life considerably?
Crisis said:Yes, as with any phone.
CrankyJay said:That's what I thought. My wife just got a new car that has bluetooth built into the dashboard and I said you'll probably want to disable/enable it as you leave/enter the car to save battery life, and the car salesman was like "It doesn't affect battery life. I have an iPhone and it's fine."
And I'm thinking "shut the fuck up".

That's exactly how I used my iphone, don't worry about it. I've actually read that lithium-ion batteries do better with short bursts of charge anyway.PhoncipleBone said:I have a USB port on my car, and have been using it to power my iPhone for the commute every day. I plug it in for the 30 minute drive, listen to music, and do the same on the way home. I know it isnt supposed to affect battery life by plugging it in all the time like that, but I am super paranoid about killing the battery early on this thing.

I've left Bluetooth turned on for the past 6 months, since I upgraded to a Bluetooth car receiver, and it's fine. It's barely made a dent in my overall battery life.CrankyJay said:Does leaving bluetooth enabled on the iPhone4 affect the battery life considerably?

Lavpa Jasai said:So I've read through parts of this thread but I still need some advice.
I am a cheap phone user (2 year contracts, get the free upgrade when I'm eligible) and right now I'm using the Motorola Karma (I HATE this thing). I have never had a smart phone before and I feel like iPhone is where I need to be heading. I'm willing to shell out the money for a better phone.
The thing is my contract ends in August, which means I will be able to upgrade. But do I jump in right away and get the iPhone 4? Or Should I wait for the inevitable new(er) version? Are there STRONG predictions as to when the new one will launch? I really want to wait for the newest one instead of buying the iPhone 4 then feeling like ass when the next one launches, but I REALLY cant stand my current phone and am very excited to join the smart phone rage.
TLDR - Any solid dates for iPhone5? Or should I just jump on iPhone4 now?
Any advice?
Thanks, I'll check it out.abracadaver said:
Shrinnan said:Who is your provider? If Verizon then you should probably get on the unlimited data deal (although if you can't upgrade then the iPhone is going to be really expensive).
If at&t then I would wait until the iPhone 5.
Lavpa Jasai said:AT&T is my provider....you think I should wait? Are there strong rumblings on how long I'll have to wait?
If you can wait, do it. Apparently more reports are coming out about the iPhone 5 this fall.Lavpa Jasai said:AT&T is my provider....you think I should wait? Are there strong rumblings on how long I'll have to wait?

I will wait for the iPhone 5 to be my first smart phone.
Lavpa Jasai said:Thanks for the advice guys! I'm going to wait. It's killing me b/c I really want to join the smartphone "Master Race" but I hate being burned on technology updates. Guess the Karma will have to do. Worst phone ever.

E.g. try this link. Click on "Get iPhone Ringtone" and look under "My Ringtones". On the right is the download-button. You don't need to have the system send you the ringtone to you via SMS.
You can also upload your own song for that matter.
Haven't noticed a change in speed.MedIC86 said:I did not read the whole thread, but is 4.3.3 sluggish for anyone else?
Its not uber slow, but its not as smooth as the older firmwares.
yes i did a full phone restore/reset with no apps on it etc, still slower
The next iPhone will be coming out around September... according to rumor.Liquidsnake said:I have been looking to upgrade from my 3gs to a 4. Judging on history, will there be a nice price drop come August or September?
My random guess is you will have to wait pretty close to the sale of iPhone 5Liquidsnake said:I have been looking to upgrade from my 3gs to a 4. Judging on history, will there be a nice price drop come August or September?
Lighter is always good, but I honestly do not need my phone to be thinner. When I can't use my iPhone 4 as an iPod out in the sun as it is, I will take that extra thickness. Not to mention the possibility to not reduce battery size.giga said:

1st: Power button sunk into unit.

3rd: Home button became depressed in unit.
Yep. Where else would I swap it out?Shrinnan said:At an Apple Store?

Awesome video recording app. It instantly starts recording when you start the app and stops when you exit. Videos are saved directly to the camera roll after exit. So much faster than going through the camera app.
Luminate said:Getting my first smartphone before school/around August as an early B-day present and I'm on the fence about whether I should get a Droid or wait till September(?) for the iPhone 5. Any spec rumors on it? Will it rival Bionic and Galaxy II's dual-core processors? I think iOS has a much better app store, but I also want to be sure my phone will still be able to hold it's own 2 years down the road.
Well, according to some, Bloomberg is on the right way with their news that the iPhone 5 will come out in September.Stinner said:I really hope the "Iphone 5 " does come out soon, really overdue for upgrade but don't want to get it and the ip5 comes out a month later :S

LCfiner said:well, its practically a lock it will have the dual core A5 currently in the ipad but likely down clocked for heat concerns. its sure fast on the ipad, Ill say that
I dont know if itll be faster than whatever the fastest android phone will be in the fall but iPhones are generally competitive in speed when they launch.
Luminate said:Guess that seals the deal then, thanks. One more question, can I download apps from iTunes on my Macbook, and transfer them to my iPhone? Just in case there's a sale between now and when I get the phone.
