Arne, can you tell us how many people are working at ND right now (employees + contractors)? Or is that confidential? Putting out 2 AAA games in 2 years is no easy task so I was just wondering.

NOT from our game - just to be clear. And I don't think anyone was trying to make that connection, but I can see how it could be easily confused in this thread.

I think it would be cool if you switched between the two characters. Ellie for sniping (she has a scoped rifle in the artwork), climbing/platforming, crawling through tight spaces and Joel for melee weapons, carrying stuff, and mid range shooting. They both seem like they know how to survive but are just working together.

You could split off from them at certain points. You could rescue them if other survivors capture them for food. The characters could split off organically. I mean the older guy could die too.

Have you played any Uncharted game? Long stretches of every game pair you with another character and you never once have to "escort" them.

Because this is a survival themed game, there might be more scenarios where you do have to protect the other person, but your assertion is extreme and unwarranted.

First thing I saw, when I saw her model, was Ellen Paige. Intentional or not, it looks way more like her than the VA.

The last two Uncharted games have had AI companions at almost every step. Sometimes more than one.

Yet they have never felt like escort missions... except that one time you literally had to carry the cameraman through the gunfight (but that was awesome!).
 
Nonsensical discussion aside...is there gonna be new info today? Or maybe his week?

I think the some of GAF are dying to know if Ellie was over 18 or the true meaning of the word 'zombie'?

I've mentioned it before, but in the Uncharted games you frequently have AI partners with you and there are no escort missions. There's little reason to believe this game would be a big escort mission. Especially considering we know nothing about the gameplay.

Ellie is confirmed to be a teenager. I'm guessing 15 or 16. Doesn't look 18 to me.
 
I feel the game will also have sections of Joel past seeing the previous trailers, how people got infected, riots happening in the city, and all, and the rest of the game will most likely be about them surviving and all.
 
It's a coincidence how every time arne drops in on the thread it suddenly gets weird.

I think so too. I'm hoping for the two character stuff I mentioned a few posts up then some flashbacks to Joel when the infection started. There will probably also be something about how they met since they don't say that he's definitely her father.
 
Another thing to note that may have already been discussed is that in the game's present day the virus must have been rampant for about 10-15 years already.

This is noted by the fact that Ellie has no knowledge of the world as it existed previously and she is in her teens

Yeah, that's one of the coolest details about this to me. She was either very young when it started or was born after it. It'll be really cool to have a character with that kind of perspective on the world with someone who saw it all go to shit.

I wonder if the two met somewhat recently, or if they've been together as she grew up.

Can't really say without more story... but from the trailer he didn't seem overly concerned she was off on her own in the place. Makes you think the character is independent. And maybe that was somewhat established when they met.

What if there's a plot point where toxic mold spores get inside of Ellie's vagina and you have to help her remove them? GUYS PLEASE DON'T PILE ON ME FOR THIS, I'M JUST TRYING TO BE REALISTIC ABOUT WHAT THE STAKES ARE LIKE AT THE END OF THE WORLD. ALSO I BET JOEL IS HUNG LIKE A HORSE.

well the dude doesnt seem like a very nice guy. He was beating a normal human at the beginning of the trailer just for like 4 bullets. And yet, he's with this small girl. There has to be some sort special relationship there. But as mentioned, its very cool how one dude saw everything turn to shit, and is with someone who was born into a world thats already shit. Story premise is just flat out cool.
