tl;dr at the bottom
Okay the first thing I want to say is: I don't want two threads of related topics floating around so this thread is going to serve to kill two birds with one stone, as in I want to cover two different topics about a hypothetical tlou sequel.
1. Story
First things first: I see people very divided about whether or not the sequel should pick up from Joel & Ellie's story. So that's what I want to get out of the way first. I might even ask a mod to attach a poll to really gauge what GAF thinks.
Do you want the story to pick up with where Joel & Ellie? If yes, where do you want it to take place? Perhaps right where they left off and then there's a time skip? Or should it already begin with a time skip? And...where should they go with it? I see people arguing that their story is wrapped up and simultaneously I see people saying that there's sooo much left to tell about these two characters since...
Or, do you NOT want the sequel to have anything to do with Joel & Ellie and have it follow a narrative of completely different characters? If this is what you want, then you open up a lot of other possibilities. The direction I would take with it; if they do, is waaaay back in the beginning, that family that Tommy & co drove by on the road, I think it'd be interesting to see where they would end up. I've always actually wondered where these bystander characters go sometimes.
Or in that tunnel passage or whatever when they were with Sam & Henry. There were a group of survivors there with one who escaped right? They could follow that character too. Or it could take place somewhere away from where they are or in a completely different country, having absolutely nothing to do with Joel & Ellie location wise.
Do you also possibly want...well...they could pull a GTA5/Yakuza on us and have it start with Joel & Ellie or different characters, and then pick up later with the other respective characters coming and crossing paths with one another. I don't know about that but the story would have to really feel organic and sensible for that to happen. Often times imo shit like that feels forced.

2. Multiplayer
Now, on to the other topic. Multiplayer. Although most of tlou's acclaim and legacy comes with its fucking masterpiece of a campaign, I think most people underestimate how much of a dent it made regarding multiplayer as well. As I said in an LTTP thread, I know a guy who never ever eva eva eva fucks with single player in games. and tlou is his favorite game, ever. He LOVES the multiplayer, he tells me he's never played anything like that. That should be very telling to y'all, GAF.
You might as well call him a casual, I guess. But anyways, other than adding more than just 4 players per team, there's a few things I want out of a MP mode in tlou2. The first and most important thing is:
-a hardcore mode, with clickers right on the maps. For all game types. This is pretty much the only thing imo that made the mp in the original game feel a little disconnected with its single player mode. I got this idea from the walking dead season 4 midseason finale; the battle at the the prison. Once both sides started shooting at each other, a few minutes later it wasn't just each other they had to worry about, it was zombies. And the same should be said in tlou's universe's mp modes. There should be a hardcore mode where each team not only has to strategize about how to outdo the other time but how to keep each other safe from clickers. And it would still be fair game literally since the clickers would be a threat to both teams.
-POSSIBLY a coop mode, both campaign, and missions, and hell...maybe even splitscreen campaign. I know the last thing is least likely but I never hide from the fact that I'm a sucker for local mp. If tlour included a splitscreen campaign mode, I probably would've bought it day 1. but it was gifted to me. as it is, tlour is the best game I ever played but I'm probably never gonna play it again.

this statement is still relevant here: I don't want two threads of related topics floating around so this thread is going to serve to kill two birds with one stone, as in I want to cover two different topics about a hypothetical tlou sequel. First is:
-Do you or do not want Joel & Ellie to be a part of the sequel? If you do, should it be all about them, or should there be another set of protagonists/deuteragonists in the mix that catches up with them? If you don't, then go ahead and explain in full detail how you think it's best for them to do a story for tlou2.
-Did you hate or love the mp in tlou? If you loved it to the max do you think there should be anything added in the sequel's mp or do you think there's still room for shit to add? All I'll say is, if for nothing else, I need them to include a hardcore mode for all game types that puts clickers right on the maps for players to deal with along with their opponents. If you hated it, would you start from scratch from the ground up or what would you do? Or would you just say fuck an mp mode for this game?
What do you think?

it is kinda sorta implied by the look on Ellie's face, particularly her eyes, that she knew Joel was lying.
