The LG G3 |Android OT| of Wanting Nice Things and Getting Them

I almost always have to recharge my battery twice a day, but I use the phone a lot and coming from a S5 the battery performance is much better.

I like to think the battery is good for me. I leave work on 100% and do between an hour and hour and a half (most days an hour) commute home and sometimes it still sits at 100% after using the SiriusXM app streaming the entire commute. That shit blows my mind when I still see it at 100%.

Yeah, mine does this too. It's crazy. And it's not like it'll just suddenly start dropping once it moves down to the 90s...it's awesome.

I've been eyeing the G3 because the battery in my nexus 5 seems to be on the way out. There are mixed reports on the battery life of the G3, what's the real world experience like for moderate to heavy use during the day?

I get ~5 hours screen on time. Battery can last 48 hours or more if I'm not using it much.

Like I've had it off the charger for close to 12 hours now and it's sitting at 99% and I was doing some light browsing earlier.

gah, how do you get SOT for that long? I'm not even close.

How's your signal? I've heard bad signal will destroy the battery as it's constantly trying to handshake (or whatever technical term you want to use) with cell towers. That said, I sit around 2-3 bars pretty much all the time.

The tips I've personally seen help the most is turning off background cell data and keeping the screen brightness as low as you can tolerate. I keep mine around 25% or so unless I'm watching a video.

I don't get THAT much, but I do get about 4 to 4:30 hours of screen on time, which I think is fantastic. My Galaxy Nexus only got about an hour and fifteen minutes screen on time :o

Need some help, when I import music to my phone using the LG Suite there is a certain embarrassing picture used for each piece of music I listen to, I don't know why. I even deleted all traces of the picture on my PC and Phone once it happened but still it persists as the picture for each song. I've tried deleting the music and importing it all again.

edit: fixed it by changing the album art in the properties of each piece of music.

I've had the phone for a while, but double tap to turn on is the greatest thing ever. The only downside to it is the fact that I try and double tap my other devices.

I do this all the time and wonder why the screen isnt coming on, then remember.

Also, anyone have any idea why the Redbox app still hasnt been updated for the G3?

Family recently dumped T-Mobile for Sprint, and both sons moved from iPhone to G3s (this was when the iPhone 6 was out of stock), but neither of them have looked back. I went from a Galaxy S3 to a G3 and am also very happy. Plus, LG/Sprint gave all of us a spare battery.

I keep getting an update install request that isn't working. The error is 0x1111004.

Anything I find researching online is from people who've rooted their phones, I've done literally nothing to this phone other than use it normally but I keep getting this error. Anyone else having similar problems?

This imessage thing is embarrassing. Apple's blunders never cease to amaze me.

Has anyone found a way to use the Google Dialer app instead of the G3's Phone app, without rooting/running a custom ROM?

It doesn't seem like it should be that complicated!

So I've been playing around with phones, and I've been really impressed with the G3, so much so I think I'm going go with it over the Turbo or the N6. The profile is just so thin, the screen is great, and the camera is fantastic. It just feels good in hand. That it has slightly less powerful specs doesn't really bother me, since I still feel like the performance on my two year old DNA is good enough. Still have a week before Verizon will let me upgrade, though...maybe there will be a black friday deal somewhere.

I need a bigger portable device. I'm still waiting for the perfect device that I can carry anywhere, make calls on, edit 2 documents side-by-side without squinting, drag & drop things on an intuitive interface, etc.

Basically I'm looking for a device that's more of a productivity upgrade from my LG Optimus G, which for the past 2 years has been the perfect phone, but the battery life is starting to worsen and while the Optimus G is still fast, these new devices are much faster.

I keep looking at the LG G3, Note 3 and recently the iPhone 6 Plus, I can't make up my mind between these 3, or deciding if I should just get a small Laptop/Chromebook/iPad Air with mobile coverage.

Too many damn options these days.

I love my G3 and don't regret it at all, but if I could choose between the G3 and the Note 4, I can't think of a single reason why I'd choose the G3 over it.

He said the Note 3. I'd take the G3 over the Note 3, but not the 4. I would never buy it because of the insane screen size, but if that doesn't bother him then I'd agree with you.

Ohhh, yeah, then in that case I'd rather have the G3. Feels better, looks better, has a better (IMO) screen, and a fantastic form factor.

Also, some people hate Touchwiz so that would be another reason to get a G3 over a Note 4.

How is this phone holding up for everyone?

Battery life hasn't degraded over time?

Anyone running Lollipop?

Had a myriad of issues with my 2014 Moto X so I'm thinking of selling it and picking up this instead. It's only a penny on contract at Amazon right now.

Phone is great. If you have Verizon I'd go with the Droid Turbo, but this phone has been fantastic since its release.

Battery should be the least of your concern. I think it's made of some alien substance that takes forever to discharge and seemingly recharges in an instant. Last night I plugged my phone in at 72%...go to brush my teeth, rinse my mouth, the usual 5-10 minutes of getting ready for bed.

I get in and my phone gives me the fully charged 100% beep. Wtf. So I unplugged it overnight, woke up...99%. It's at 82% now but I used it for work to take a bunch of screens, email, and texting with friends and wife.

Battery life was my biggest concern but it's been fantastic so far. I regularly get well in excess of 4 hours screen time after a full days usage. Some days I'd struggle to get 2 hours out of my Nexus 4.

The camera is fantastic. The screen is great (though I could do without the artificial sharpness) bit it's the overall size and in hand feel that wins out.

Compared to a HTC One M8 it is roughly the same size but lighter and better in the hand yet it has a far bigger screen. It's just a really well thought out design, knock code is a great feature and having the buttons on the back was a great choice.
