The March 21st Apple Event Thread: Looping In With OS Updates, A New 4-Incher, & More

So this event isn't anything special right? Sorry I am posting on mobile and I feel like I'm not seeing all the keynotes but from what I saw it doesn't look that big. Of course this is Apple's smaller event.
 
Updating my stuff now.

Really disappointed that the smaller Pro saw a price increase over the Air 2. I think the 32GB is what the 128GB Air used to be. With a Pencil and a 128GB that's like $500 more expensive. I think I'm out. The Air 2 is already amazing.

It just has to be at this point. The 15" MBP is in desperate need of an update.

Yeah, Surface is a great laptop replacement, but I found it pretty lacking as a tablet too.
 
iPhone SE looks quite nice. Glad they didn't gimp it and put a A8 in it or something. Assuming it has 2GB of ram it's going to be quite a nice device from a hardware standpoint.

Not sure what to think about the new iPad Pro. It looks nice and powerful but I'm still not sold on the concept of using a tablet as a laptop replacement. Apple seems to be pushing that concept though.

The 128gb air 2 was 700.
 
Wait, so no word on new laptops? I really fucking need a new upgrade, but I insist on waiting until the processor update. Otherwise, it would be a waste of money.

I'm pretty annoyed by this.
 
Apple would be smart to release an SE with 128GB of storage and 3GB of ram, but I'm guessing they need to save something for the SE2

Actually, I agree. The 5s design was pretty great. The 6 series' rounded edges make holding the phone like holding a bar of soap. The 4/4s is still my favorite though.

I know my fiance has been impatiently waiting to get one. He killed his phone a few months ago and has been relying on his very beat up iphone 4 (that was also abused but didn't completely die like his 5s). He really dislikes the bigger phone (he doesn't get how I can deal with the 6 I have) so he's just been waiting since he has been hearing rumors of the smaller ones. His 4 though is not just slow cause it's an old phone, it's also got issues like a bad battery and a home button that barely works. But, yeah, he really hates the 4 he has to rely on cause it really can't handle the newer OS and apps. Maybe one day he'll start being more careful with his phones (his last one ended up in the sink cause he put it in a dirty dish that was stacked with others and no one noticed it was there until it was too late).

I'm not a huge fan of the bigger is better either but I didn't find the 6 too horrible (and I got a good deal to upgrade and since they don't do subsidized anymore this phone is going to have to last a while... no more upgrading every two years for me). I think I'm going to be a little jealous of his phone (I also like the older styles of the phone. I hate the curved edges of the new phone, they're ugly to me. I think the 5 I had before was imo the prettiest of the iphones. Partly cause they still had a black rather than grey at best).
 
I have a 6s now but I am tempted at the SE. I really like the smaller form factor phone. Its much easier to text one handed. with an apple watch I use my phone less and less every hour anyways.

Keep in mind that SE doesn't have 3DTouch so doesn't have the cursor control and selection of the 6s/6s+. 3rdparty keyboards still acting up on iOS 9.3 for me.

Cursor control has been more frustrating than useful for me. Really hard to place the cursor exactly where you want sometimes, or it just doesn't enable.

I am really tempted for the iPhone SE as well. but I have a problem with the phone not having a force touch. please it or not I use it allot.

I really liked the iPhone 5s design more than 6. which is why its temping for me too. but FUCK why not add the force touch ? it would have been the perfect phone like forever.
 
It would make no sense for the SE not to have 2GB of RAM. They'd have to manufacture totally separate 1GB A9s just for it. Given they'd be producing them at lower volume and would need to design and manufacture a separate chip that might actually cost Apple more than just tossing in the existing A9.
 
Im surprised they didnt announce Apple Watch v2. I was expecting that because its been about a year since the first one was released.

What do you think? Will we get a v2 this year or will they wait til next year? I think the current version is too big and clunky.
 
New nylon bands look great but can you only get the gold anodized clasp with the watch? My wife is going to be pissed :(
 
Looks like the battery life is going to be better then the 6s. Very tempting to jump the gun on the SE. I do not use 3d touch but the facetime camera downgrade and 1st generation touch id is a true bummer. Other then that, this is probably the most shocking iphone they have put out in a while. I don't think anyone here was expecting an almost iphone 6s with a 5s body. The price alone is the complete shocker of this announcement.
 
Banging my head against a wall waiting for these Macbooks to refresh, I'm stuck on an early 2011 MBP so I really need that upgrade (video editor)...

People that write about upcoming hardware said v2 will be sept a couple of months back.
 
I'm just now learning the 9.7 Pro has a protruding camera.

WHY?! The device is meant to lay flat on a table.That's very disappointing - won't it wobble when using the pencil?

I'm in the same boat - one pissed off girlfriend who has a Rose Gold Sport and wants bands with rose gold hardware.

Hadn't thought of that. That's not good. I'd rather have a worse camera (especially on an iPad, because who cares?) and better form factor.
 
I'm not sure if they have confirmed sources or if they are just speculating, but both iMore and BGR are saying the iPhone SE only has 1GB RAM. Hype deflated if it turns out to be true since it is staring to sound more and more like a budget phone.

I mean, yeah. Because it is their budget phone. I'm amazed we're getting an A9 and the same spec camera given the price.
