Have you guys heard the new Gargoyle album "解識 ~Geshiki~"

Gargoyle

They have been one of my favorite Thrash Bands for a long time, really melodic progressive with amazingly constructed solos and just a complete unique identity. This new album is great, I think it stands as a bit better than last years offering.

I always thought Nile kind of sucked. Just a ton of blast beats and boring vocals.

First album "Catacombs of Nephren-Ka" was sort of refreshing to hear when it first came out. All of a sudden the second album and onwards got ridiculous. Kinda like Hate Eternal/Krisiun level of full on blasts all the fucking time.

This is really fuckin cool, if I wanted to dive into their back catalog where should I look first?

they are simply amazing. They have 14 albums haha, I'd recommend the albums "禊 ~Misogi~" and "檄 ~Furebumi~" those will let you understand what the band is all about and if you like them or not, they are really unique vocally, some might say annoying but I find that is where they are so creative. Super fun band from japan, if you are a fan of Prog Thrash, you know to appreciate some of the more experimental aspects of the genre, so you will love Gargoyle

I've been a massive Wrathchild America fan for years, their masterpiece in 1991 "3-D" is one of the very best released that year.

Songs like Desert Grins , Spy, What's Your Pleasure, Draintime, and the brilliant instrumental Prego really show this bands variety and talent.

It is a must listen for Thrash Fans and one of the classics of 90's Thrash

Yep, I've been listening to them a long time too. Desert Grins is good stuff. Souls At Zero is some good stuff also, love it.

All this talk of Jesters made me think of the amazing Progressive Thrash/Metal band Jester's March

Really great vocals and guitar compliment this album. The songwriting is superb and their progressions take you on an amazing journey.

It is really melodic and the soaring vocals from Olaf Bilic make it one of my favorite albums. With songs like Rain Falls , Into the Void, Middle of Madness, and Jester's Rise really highlight this album.

Neat. Surgical Steel was a bit dissapointing at first, but I think it's a very decent, even good album. I'd rate it slightly lower than Symphonies of Sickness, I certainly prefer it over Reek/Swansong. Necrotism and Heartwork are still king imo

Ooh, Carcass ranking eh? From best to worst:

This is tough because their discography is really good overall.

I'll go with:

Symphonies of Sickness
Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious
Heartwork
Surgical Steel
Reek of Putrefaction
Swansong

Hard to say because the first three are all fantastic records. I like the music of Reek, but the production severely damages the album's music. It's a damn shame.

I'm with you on that - I thought Surgical Steel was solid but in retrospect I'm a little baffled as to why it was hailed so much and made so many year-end lists.

Contentious statement: The opening riff to Heartwork is the greatest guitar riff of all time.

I guess most people expected the album to be utter shit like Swansong, so some people going overboard is to be expected ;)

Holy fuck this is fantastic. Canada represent.

Meant to check it out yesterday, but after reading that Fassbender story, and heading to the new releases, they described this album as..

"This band is kind of fantastic. They are the musical crossroads of Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, and DragonForce. If you're a fan of any of those three, you really should listen to the included track and look into these guys. They're epic, heavy, melodic, and full of technical moments from every musician involved."

Crimson Shadows - Rise To Power

Reminds me plenty of stuff like Skyfire, Wintersun, Norther, Ensiferum, etc etc. Just that amount of speed and melody,

mcZ0w_UGxGiZ5KA_5rgZ0Oaoc7vSRzwU5EieMdi3UqOpie6VI3xDk3fjYBr39Gr7ZBS_DJBUqA=s512-c-e100-nu

I just can't take the growls. I'm know I'm weak metalGAF.

Growls are kind of an acquired taste. It was certainly a process for me going from "ugh growls" to barely noticing any vocal delivery that isn't fucking insane.

The way to learn to tolerate them is to expose yourself to a wide variety of music and listen to shit that sounds cool. If you keep doing that it kinda happens naturally - first with harder vocal deliveries, then with more palatable growls, then before you know it you're down the rabbit hole with the rest of us.

Yep, this is my experience as well. Oddly though, I didn't take too long to warm up to them. I was a full blown Death Metal addict in 2006 (though to be fair, I started in 2005, as it took me around a year).

One of my favorite bands. Will need to check out the new album.

unearth is unleashing a new album:

Song through sound cloud in the link

Unearth dropped a bomb today, releasing their explosive new song ‘The Swarm,’ which will be featured on the band’s upcoming sixth studio album ‘Watchers of Rule.’ The rapid-fire track shows off the band’s arsenal of technical prowess, while featuring Trevor Phipps’ signature growling vocals.

‘Watchers of Rule’ will arrive on Oct. 28, via eOne Music. It is available for pre-order at iTunes now. Fans can also pre-order special $20 bundles, featuring the CD, and a variety of shirts here.

It’s been three years since the Massachusetts metalcore band release their ‘Darkness in the Light’ album. Last month, Phipps offered some insight into the reason for the delay citing “scheduling conflicts.” He added, “It was a difficult record to put together but by the end of it, I think the songs were all there and it’s a f–king awesome record. So we’re all happy it’s about to finally come out.”

You can check out the album’s full track listing, as well as the new song ‘The Swarm,’ at the bottom of the post. Meanwhile, the disc’s artwork has also been released and is featured as well.

Unearth will kick off the Black Crown Initiate Tour with Darkest Hour, Carnifex, Origin and I the Breather on Oct. 13 in Montreal, Quebec. For complete tour dates, go here.

Sorry for all these Progressive Thrash posts lately but it is one of my metal loves, I have to share.

Mind-Ashes - The Views Obscured

107958.jpg

From Germany, this album is damn near perfect in its approach to the genre. Released in 1997, it is a powerful display of progressive thrash metal, it stands up next to the great scene of prog thrash that Germany has churned out. I have no trouble ranking it highly next to the first three Depressive Age albums or Sieges Even debut. I'd also recommend their second album, a better vocal performance from another singer, but it is hard to find, so I share their debut.

My "pretend label" released an album today that I think is pretty swell. I did the mixing and production for it, but Decayos, the artist, is entirely separate from me, so hopefully this doesn't count as too much self-promotion*. The dude has an incredibly unique style, so I'm looking forward to your reactions.

I can also post the Soundcloud playlist if anyone would rather hear it that way, but I don't want to be too spammy here. I have a lot of respect for the taste in this thread and don't want to piss anyone off.

*I'm not sure what the policy on self-published material is, but metal is kind of a special audience, so I'm betting you guys don't mind. There is no such thing as broad appeal in this art form, so we have to exchange our ideas in our little caves on the internet.

Can someone back me up here? A lot of racists folks on this Burzum video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKu-A14GHS0 (my nick is gabrielgao btw)

Let me teach some History for you and the nazis here. When we freed the slaves (1888) they had no place to go, so they did the "favelas" as know today. The Republic just didn't want to help, so they bringed a lot of people all over the world. If they had helped, we would be already a super power. But things are moving. One of the best politicians here is "black" and he is not corrupted. Mostly policians are, but with the new laws they are unable to go to power ever again. Russia, India, China and Brasil are the future. You want to maintain your color skin and your Thor, Odin? Fine. Just don't be racist about it. Why I am even speaking man... You are brain washed. Drugs and crime are everywhere in the world. Regardless, I enjoy Varg's music A LOT but he just brings race debates with nothing. Multicultural paradise? Sure is. You can meet a lot of good people here with other cultures. Now, you saying there's no advance? I think there is: https://www.google.com.br/publicdat..._pcap_cd&idim=country:BRA:CHN:ARG&hl=pt&dl=pt

Brasil is going up now, this is an old PIB. But since you people here are so biased on white eugenics, so be it. Still gonna listen to Varg's music, even he being racist."

It seems my post was blocked. Can someone post this?

The most sad part is the likes. I hate racism.

Two things :

-I like swansong, the only death'n'roll album that I know of.

-Freak kitchen has a new album "Cooking with pagans" and it's seems good. I just hope that they stop to detune the guitar, it starts to sound really strange.

Isn't Varg a known racist and neo-nazi? Why are you wasting time debating with racists on a racist music video?
