The most disappointing hyped AAA game this generation?

Metal Gear Solid V.

I never thought a game that I liked so many things about could be my biggest disappointment. Mechanically it's probably the best MGS, but everything else is pretty bad.

Don't forget the ridiculous part of the game where it stole half your credits till you connected to the internet. I'm sorry but that's a joke, it's the most "corporate" thing I've seen in a video game since Dragon Age had a character that made you buy DLC in your party.

I feel like it's gotta be Anthem. There are some really huge ones this gen like Fallout 76 or Battlefront 2, but most of them managed to improve over time and regain at least a little bit of footing, but absolutely no one likes or gives a shit about Anthem.

I'm actually really excited to see how it looks and plays on PC. The game was amazing but ran like a garbage fire.

I'm sure it will run perfectly on the PC now that it has been out for awhile, and Ben Studio has been good about releasing patches. I think there were 9 patches during the first month on the PS4 Pro... at least it seems like that many to me. Every time I turn on the PS4, there was a patch. You have to wait for over an hour for it to download and then copy over the entire original game again before you can play with every single patch (no matter how small). Sony's great brains at work here.

Probably Breath of the Wild. The awful dungeons, recycled content, poorly implemented weapon durability system, poor UI and lack of any real emotional lift just sank the game for me after the initial honeymoon period. I think I would have much preferred the game prior to the Switch port reworking. It's a still a great framework to work from so an eventual sequel should be amazing though.

Odyssey is probably a close second.

I intend to sell both of those along with Octopath. And I never sell my games.

I don't think it's a bad reboot at all... It is a very interesting concept. Not only the world itself, but more importantly, how the game makes the player face himself...
It's not a reboot, though. It's an unrelated game that they slapped the name on in order to keep the rights from reverting. Even though I liked it a lot, he's 100% correct that it was named the way it was out of spite for Human Head and to keep them from ever finishing their version of Prey 2.

As for the most disappointing AAA game this gen... I can't pick. To me, this is probably the most disappointing gen as a whole.
Don't agree with you on the first part.

Completely agree with you on the second.

I've heard this opinion million of times by now, but was always hesitant to ask, so better late than never: what exactly made it a broken game? I've played through all the campaigns and never encountered a glitch. Does it have something to do with MP? Not really a fan of its MP, so only played a few games, but even then I didn't encounter anything game breaking. Thanks in advance.
Always wondered this too since I'm only intetested in single-player campaign and if at least that's fuctionable unpatched out of the box.

Metal Gear Solid V. Both the game and the premium demo of it they sold for $40 months before launch. It's insane how far the series has fallen between the launch of MGS 2 and now.

This gen has been filled with boredom for me, so I couldn't possibly choose one game.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Youngblood
What a disappointment after New Order and Old Blood the two best shooters of this generation. Went from a day 1 series to wait for reviews.

Yeah... Gotta agree with you on Wolfenstein II. I loved a lot of the insane spectacle they put in the game, but they really dropped the ball on the actual level design and gameplay compared to the New Order and Old Blood.

Actually just finished it and loved the shit out of it. Besides one or two areas where it had fps drops and jitters came played fine for me. Loved it, one of my top games this gen.
