The N7 Day 2016 Thread

The collector edition ludicrous price aside, amazon page for it has a video showing that the controller is a mobile app and the vehicle includes a video camera which is cool

steelbook case is shown too there, weirdly its just a white case (would have liked black with the artwork minus words from the regular edition boxart of the game, with black background matching the awesome ME2 and ME3 steelbooks)

The problem is in they are showing stuff, but nothing they are showing is exciting. I'm not saying they need a huge marketing push, just don't show the thing at all.

We have E3's where it's basically them showing concept art, the PS Pro trailer which has to be one of the most boring clips to show imaginable, and some CG trailers.

It's just really really bad marketing and as someone else put it basically giving your fanbase constant blue balls with no payoff. It would have been much better for them to just hold off entirely on showing anything if they were going to wait for a last second real reveal.

I totally agree. It's so lame.

Collector's Edition is here with a RC Nomad.

Damn... I wanted a model of the ship!
The trailer is great but this really disappoints me :(

https://www.masseffect.com/buy/collectors-edition

Edit: It's 2 editions. One with a RC car, the other with a normal model.
$199 or $99.
Game NOT included. Just an empty steelbook.

..................................wut........................................

How did this ever become a thing? When? WHY!?

The collector's edition of the game...doesn't come with the game?

lolol

imo it makes sense in this day and age, we get way too many scalpers who preorder the CEs, list it up on ebay right away, and cancel their orders if they don't sell. Fucks with allocations, etc.

This way the mfg doesn't have to crank out X units for every platform but can just sell CE items to fans, never limit pre orders so demand more closely aligns with supply, and people can buy the versions they want exactly - maybe own it digitally, buy the CE items, change your platform a week before release without affecting it, etc.

Personally i think its a great move and glad to see more studios do it. I don't really buy CEs anymore, would rather just buy high quality third party stuff if its a series I really love.

I'm hoping to see more throughout the day, maybe a second trailer. GameInformer has a few articles up on their front page, and they've said they'll be releasing more details shortly.

This trailer got me excited, one thing I am worried about is Mass Effect losing a little too much of its identity in this new galaxy. We'll see. Now enough with story, show me some extended gameplay and the multiplayer then I'll be fully satisfied.

This is always the most hilarious shit to me.

Like, who comes up with this collector's edition, and then says....nah, we'll piecemeal you for the actual game.

Like....wut.

Its the best idea possible. It lets people choose which version of the actual game they want and which version of the Nomad that they want.

I want the Nomad model and the super delux editon, but someone else might want the RC car and just a standard edition. Options are good.

Went through trailer with VLC and grabbed screenhots of moments I thought to be most interesting and/or revealing; http://imgur.com/a/30hQe

Few here;

wow those MP booster packs makes me wonder how much of a cash cow MP will be

I think they are going to be booster packs much like the Halo 5 booster pack drops you can buy (which are handy, but no real game changer). It's pretty standard fair for a RNG drop based loot/booster system: no big deal.

ME3 Multiplayer was amazing, and had plenty of real cash microtransactions going down (but all free updates which was awesome as it gets!).

Ok so all the major species had a hand in the Andromeda Initiative right, it wasn't just humans they sent to find a new home in a different galaxy? Why then is the marketing stating that we are to lead humanity when it's a mix of different species on that vessel?

In any case, I liked the trailer. Builds up the mood quite nicely! :)

Would have like something more meaty, with gameplay and all that but I liked it anyway :D

2 reasons: each major species has its own Ark, and so the one you start on is going to be majority Human, and secondly, the people buying this game will be majority human, so it makes sense to cater to them.

Agreed.

More insulting, however, is that I still think ME1 set a gold standard for amazing Collector's Editions.

A Mass Effect fiction book titled "Galactic Codex: Essentials Edition 2183"
A 36-page guide to the Mass Effect universe, including a Citadel timeline and a guide to all non-human races, biotics and the key locations in the Perseus arm of the galaxy
An additional Mass Effect art book titled "A Future Imagined"
A 36-page collection of BioWare's concept art for the game
A bonus DVD of exclusive Mass Effect background material and additional content including:
"The Vision of Mass Effect" documentary
"The Making of Mass Effect" documentary
"Interactive Storytelling" documentary
"Inside BioWare" documentary
18 Mass Effect themed gamer pics (three unique sets of six)
16 dashboard themes (four unique sets of four)
Ten songs from the Mass Effect soundtrack
Five historical Mass Effect trailers from X05 through E3 2007 and the official TV trailer
A demo for "Blue Dragon" and videos for "Lost Odyssey," "Halo 3" and "Halo Wars"
Design galleries featuring 600 concept images fully commented by the Art Directors

THAT was amazing and worth every single penny I paid.

Figure I'd post it here too.

This was the same year Shepard was resurrected in for Mass Effect 2.

Oh, so it's 600 years after ME2 (and obviously ME3 too)? Cool.

Wonder if they'll ever discover their home planets may or may have not still be there when they arrive in Andromeda :P

EA basically isnt doing a true collector edition in the sense that ME1/2/3 had. They basically have a third party partner providing the "collector edition" thats just creating 3 physical products (the 2 versions of the mako and the steelbook)

There is clearly a very big focus by EA on MP given that its all MP focussed stuff you get in the deluxe edition

Not sure how I feel about this MP focus - on the one hand I only care about SP and its likely more % of dev time was spent on MP versus ME3, but OTOH its important that the franchise makes a lot of money in order to get a high budget and priority versus other games

I remember the day I went to buy this collector's edition on launch very fondly. It's been almost 10 years now. I still have it on my shelf.

Edit: Scrub that, read the dates wrong: launching in 2185....odd.

Before the Reaper threat was 100%, so why are we fleeing the galaxy already?

The game will have been in development for nearly five years when it comes out, I wouldn't worry about anything getting less dev time than ME3.

It would still be nice....if they gave us the Option to buy the game with the CE contents like BF1 did....instead of buying things separately which sometimes ends up costing more if the companies see it that way.

Sure that would be nice, but at least this way you have the chance to get both the nomad and game you want for sure. If it was a packaged deal it might have the wrong edition of the game or it might be harder to find since they would want to be more cautious about a $250+ version of the game.

Separately is best.

So I figure this might be a good place to ask, but I was just wondering. How come they were able to
clone shepard
, but they can't fix Joker's legs? What's up with that? We can warp to other places, but this guy can't walk in the future? Seems fucked up.

My guess, the Andromeda initiative started out as a long term plan in case the Reaper threat came to fruition, and since Luna was hit first: I'm guessing we had to take off in a big hurry once the Reapers arrived to clean house.

The 2185 starting timeline would back this up I reckon.....

The website says the Andromeda Initiative was founded in 2176, 7 years before Shepard found out about the Reaper threat.

Because then they couldn't force a slow walking mission on you in Mass Effect 2.

They're not fleeing. A private company is seemingly funding the exposition just because they can. One of the tidbits on the Initiative site mentions the explorers hoping to open up ways of easily navigating between the Milky Way and Andromeda for resource sharing etc. so they're obviously not doing it to escape the Reapers if they think the existing civilizations will still be around 600 years from when they leave.

The newest briefing on their site actually did a lot more to excite me for the game than the trailer. It conveyed the scale of the adventure ahead a lot better.
