You have to pay him 3,000 bells to be able to buy anything. He's shady. Anything you see in his tent is way overpriced and I've heard he sells counterfeit paintings.

Yes, be warned! If you buy a painting from Redd you cannot donate it to the museum as mr owl will reject it.

Anyways, Pants are open. I'll be in Gabi's house for ze brithday partying down.

No, problem at all. ^____^ Thank God Linksys actually cares about their customers, huh? :)

Indeed, though I was amused that the firmware update readme specifically mentioned improved reliability with PSP online gaming, and failed to mention the improvement with DS online gaming! :lol

Just started playing AC today.

What's up with that otter? I used to like otters but now I'm out 9,000 bells for seemingly nothing. :(
well, for 3000 bells you get 100 bells if you're stung by a bee that day

for 6000 i dunno yet since i just got it

but i'm guessing he pays yo some money if you buy a fake painting from redd

i kept saying no to that otter, but he wouldn't give up until I said yes. Thankfully, I only had 1000 bells on me. Is there anyway to get him to go away without saying yes? Next time I'll know not to talk to him.

The second 6000 is for damage insurance, I decided to go for it seeing as I was sold a forged painting by Redd, it covers this and I can get compensation for it. Had I had known it would only be 100 bells for what was a 3000+ bell painting, I would have saved my 6000 bells. :(

I'm not sure what else it covers other than forged paintings.

Same here, but I had 6700~ on me. I was going to shut it down but I didn't want Resetti to yell at me. I have low self-esteem as it is. :(

I did it. I just ignored him.

Holy crap, I just realized his name was "reset"ti.

Yeah, I made my second perfect snowman today, I'm going to try and construct a snowlady for him next time I have a couple of snowballs lieing around.

sp0rsk! I gotta try that money tree idea, is it just a matter of digging a hole and then burying a large sum of bells?

I just paid off my second mortgage, can't wait to get my house upgrade tomorrow. :D

IIRC, you need a golden shovel to plant money trees.

We can make snow ladies in this game?

No one knows why my trees haven't borne any fruit since Thurs?

How are you guys getting stung by bees, isn't it the winter? Also, are there no bugs to be found as of now?

And yes, someone answer the money tree questions exactly. I forget how that works.

I dunno about snow ladies, but I'm going to try, he keeps saying how he wishes there were some snow ladies about.

There are bugs around, I've dug up a mole cricket, I've caught a cockroach from on a tree and I've caught a fly which was buzzing around.
I've also had friends who have caught bees by shaking trees until a hive drops down and then quickly switching to a net to catch them.

I have a golden shovel, I'll give planting some bells a try. :)

I tried making a snow lady but all I made was another snow man. It's not bad though, because he sent me a letter and some snowman shwag. My house now has a snowman carpet and a snowman dresser and a Xmas tree. Snowman gifts are a good source of income I suppose.

A GAFer gave me some peaches and I planted one. Do I have to water it? I don't have a watering can.

Flowers can be watered, trees don't need it.

Good rule of thumb to GUARANTEE that a fruit tree will sprout. Cut down an existing tree (preferably a non-fruit-bearing one), shovel out the stump, and in that same resulting hole, bury the fruit you want to turn into a tree!

Yes, you can still find a rock to poke with the shovel everyday that will dispense money bags.

My questions:

A) What does the water can exactly do? Do you just water flowers when they dry out, or should you water normal flowers everyday?

B) Is it true you have to have someone buy something from Nook to upgrade to Nookingtons? Is there another way? I really hate it that Nintendo advertises the hair salon feature yet a major amount of people will never be able to access it.

Not sure about the flowers, but yes it's true about Nookington's. And that's the same way it was in the GCN version.

How many nook upgrades are there? He was closed today for the first one ^_^

You don't have to buy very many things, if any to get the Nookingtons upgrade. My wife is a skin flint, spending most of her bells on mortgage and quickly got there.

I added you to friends list, do I need to be on yours to enter your town?

30k left on my mortgage. OMG feels so good paying it off.

Was it?

I got Nookington's on the Cube, but I don't recall anyone specifically buying something at the store... I did do multiplayer once or twice though.

I still think it's lame for Nintendo to do that.

Are you saying you don't buy anything at all from Tom Nook? You don't need to buy specific items or anything to get the Nookington's upgrade. Just minimal, natural purchases will make it happen.

Not very lame at all.

From my understanding, someone else from a different town (not my character) has to purchase at least one item from Nook's store to get the upgrade to Nookingtons.

I personally buy items of Nook everyday. This is how I got to what I currently have (the third upgrade).
