I havent even used those skills yet. Gonna delegate when I get to the end of the game.

You're missing lots of good ones by not giving any to characters who leave. :\

Did you get past where you were stuck, DB?

Yep, I'm fighting him now. After SAVING. >:(

Stinking Campingway stole all my tents >_>

EDIT: Beat him, and only Cecil was left alive....

He leveled up 3 levels XD

EDIT: Great. Now he's level 1. *cries*

Try
using the hovercraft to go east of the cave that had the Antlion
to get unstuck. That level sounds pretty high though, but I don't remember what I was there and was looking for all the monsters.

Finally made it through. I ahd to change character to
Rydia
near the mountain to go through. No cave or a sign of an entrance. Thanks bad game design.

I dont want too because there is a part later in the game where a monster that summons things comes up.. I plan on sitting in those battles for hours and just mass lvling. The counter I fear will just fark with stuff.

This also makes it feel more like the original and more challenging :)
Yeah, that strategy doesn't work anymore. The summoner runs after they summon the second round of puppets.

Red,
the Stone Blade raises Attack to 77 in the remake. I haven't gotten to the Ice Blade yet, but before the Tower of Zot, the next strongest weapon is the Sleep Blade, which has 55 Attack (even the Fire Blade, which you get in the Tower, only has ~65 Attack).

Right before going into Dymacia/Bard's castle(sp)...
Should I give Telleh the Auto-potion? He leaves the party but I didn't notice it giving me his recall spell.
It's been a long time since I've played the game. Does he
come back and leave again later in the game?
Right now I've only got the one decant.

You get him again, and he stays a lot longer the second time around.

Seriously....all I want is the fucking Rainbow pudding!!! Is that too much to ask for? Because apparently it is.............I've been killing yellow slime guys for hours now.

i just started playing the game and i have a couple of question (this is the first time i play FFIV, kill me now):

1- can someone please explain to me the first 6 (or so) status attributes.
2- how's the "wait" mode supposed to work? i switched to it and i notice that monsters sometimes take action while i'm viewing the menus (i took my time to get the hang of all the battle menus)
3- what do you all think of the voice overs? should i continue the game with them on, or should i turn them off and avoid the trauma?

wut, wat.

Voiceovers are great, at least in the the english trailers... almost better than the japanese ones.
I don't have the game, but i will definitely play it with Voiceovers.

When you're selecting a target, that's when enemies don't attack. Going through actions/items don't stop them.

Also, Wizpig, the topic is named IVr just to mean IV remake.

Finally,
the lizards around Agart sometimes drop a weapon called the Stone Blade, which does incredible damage for this point in the game. Problem is, they're in pairs and are accompanied by a fire dog. Use status effects.
Damn these things are impossible. I can handle everything else in the "island" except these. I'm trying to get my characters to level 30 (just got the entreprise) and these monsters keep killing my party D:

I'm afraid of all the tough difficulty talk. :(

Someone console me.

Well there's three of them now, PS3, 360 and Wii.

Unfortunately there are no Final Fantasy games out for them yet.

Ah, fuck it. I'm still gonna go for it. *brave face*

great, i was honestly surprised too by how good the first two fully voiced scenes were.
and thanks Vol for explaining how wait works :P for a second i thought the game was bugged.

one final thing awesome gaffers:

mainly:
- Stamina
- Spirit
(strength/speed are self-explanatory, and intellect=magic rite?)

finally:
- does anyone else miss the position of FFIIIDS camera, i like it more than the old school position. i wish they offered the option to choose between them, especially since all monsters are rendered fully in 3D ( you can also see them from a FFIIIDS angle in the beastiary).
- i wish the game was as smooth in battle as it is outside of battle. it just look a bit choppy. (especially after the battle when exp and money is gained, very sluggish)

Talking about Giant of Babil part.

Where DO you get the rainbow pudding?!
You get it from the jello like guys. The best place to get it supposedly is in the 2nd floor basement of the antilon cave......I've been here for hours and havent progressed on bit in the story trying to get it, but it has the odds of dropping of like 0.4 or 1 out of 256 or some shit. Also I can't get the Gnome summon either.....this game hates me.

I love the challenge in this iteration. Got through pretty well but with necessarily careful progress in the Tower of Zot. But on first entrance the tough enemies laid out a nasty welcome (back attack from ice hounds...).

Now at a post-
Sisters
save that brings me to the boss
Barbariccia
whereby I learned very quickly what not to do. :lol

Oh, the
Alarm Robots?
Yeah, don't know about those. But they don't attack, so they can't trigger the Counter.

Jinfash, Stamina=Physical Defense (also affects HP gained, I believe) and Spirit=Magic Defense+White Magic Potency.

? Doesn't it show up as a cave on the map? Doesn't Rosa say? And at that point in the game, there's nowhere else to go; there's either Kaipo or looking around. If that's bad game design, you may get angrier later when there's a lot of places to go to.

Oh, you got it a lot earlier.

and then AFTER i placed the order i read that in this game the save before the final boss is actually "not so before" the actual boss.
This is going straight on eBay as soon as it arrives here.
just kidding... but fuck the programmers, seriously.

You'll be fine
you can get to the boss from the last save point in a couple of minutes
. Don't be a pansy!

It's not that bad. Even I can get through it.

That's it, after hours and hours of killing yellow jello guys I still haven't gotten the rainbow pudding. Cecil and crew are all about lvl. 29 leveled all off pathetic exp. Is the item I get from it even important? If not, I'm skipping it.

It really is a shame but all the item drop summons are pretty much worthless. It's only for OCD completionists.

I could be wrong, as I don't remember what I read offhand, but
I think you need it for a super-powerful piece of equipment, or the Rainbow one is necessary to be able to fight a bonus boss supermonster. I've never gotten any Pudding/Tail items, even with the 'increase rare drop rate' decant
.

I don't think it's for a summon.

Then screw it, I've wasted to much time trying to get it. I'm continuing on with my quest.

So I'm currently in the Tower of Zot and having difficulty fighting
Barbariccia. Her counter attack takes out my entire party. How do I avoid this?

Bomb should be pretty decent going by older FFIV, so if one lucks into that good for them. I got truly lucky with getting goblin almost immediately but didn't save when I should have. Not counting on seeing it again at normal encounter rates.

Too bad too, as it was a neat little animation they made for it. Goblin runs towards the camera, slams axe into treetrunk and somersaults over it.

guys i changed the battle mode to "wait" and i still don't see the difference!
monsters still hit me while selecting actions from menus AND while determining which monster to attack. when are they supposed to "wait"? :/

is my game bugged?

Try
noticing what you do that makes her counter, and control when you do it so you can heal after her counter.

As someone else pointed out, when you are in the config screen and you choose wait, do you go to the option at the bottom of the screen where you confirm the changes with the A button? If you change something in the config and hit B, it doesn't keep the changes you made.

you know i'm not sure whether i chose "accept" or just pressed A on "wait" then B to go back, but i'm SURE that whenever i go back to "settings" i always find "wait" highlighted. either way, i'm gonna try to choose "wait" then confirm it with "accept".
boy am i a quotation-whore or what :P

If it's set right and it wasn't changed, wait mode will pause ATB after you select an action and are choosing what to cast/attack/use.

Heh FFIV counter attacks, brings back memories. Kinda sucks that bosses these days dont really do much in the way of counter attacking...or at least changing positions.

Red Scarlet said:

ahhh that's the best way to test the setting, thank you scarlet.

EDIT: just tried it, now i know when the game pauses (or wait) :lol thanks again RS. sorry for the big fuss gaf :P

I fought
Scarmiglione on Mt. Ordeals
last night, great fight. Got him on my first try, although it was fairly brutal and I ended up with Porom dead most of the fight.

One thing I really appreciate about this game is that the difficulty makes it so a lot of items become useful. In so many games you rack up tons of stuff that you never even need, but in that battle I ended up using a lot of stuff (bomb items, multiple ethers and potions, echo screens) quite a few times.

I'm liking this game quite a bit more, but I still think the 3D is fairly hideous compared to the glorious, timeless 2D in the other versions.
