Zzoram said:How well does Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) hold up? I got 500 Wii points free with my pre-order of NSMB.Wii and I don't want to buy any more points so I am getting a 500 point NES game. How is the difficulty of SMB3? Can you save progress, or is it one of those start at 1-1 every time you play games?

Got the game around 10:00. Started playing around 10:30. Finished game at about 12:00. Wii Message Board says 1:45 but that's going to include the install time (which was pretty short, game is only 540 megs), downloading the box art, answering a phone call, and I played around a little bit after watching the credits and re-loading my save file.
what up.1-1 1-2 1-3 5-1 5-2 5-Fort 5-4 5-Ghost 8-1 8-2 8-3 8-4 8-5 8-6 8-Airship 8-Bowser
I did like that after beating Bowser.you have to do that platforming section. Nintendo, except for the Super Mario World final fight, has never managed to make a boss battle that's really both been tough and lengthy, and giving up entirely and deciding to go with the platforming worked out pretty well
Music sucked; it's not the composition, it's the instrumentation. Some of the midi samples are just ghastly. Their attempt at, I don't know, a pipe organ?, in the airship theme is... I mean, wow.
So far it's fun and there are a few neat tricks in the levels. Liked crossing the bridge in world 8 and being forced into a little mini-level where I had to dodge some fireballs. Reminded me of SMB3 with the hands grabbing you. Got most of the coins in the levels I played. I'd definitely put my quick playthrough above Sunshine and Lost Levels, on par with NSMB / SML1. Hoping that the extra content in terms of playthrough videos, unlockable coins, andas well as the Toad rescues will really cement it as a Super Mario entry.World 9
Why is everything either circular or sinusoidal though?
I didn't recognize many names in the credits.
While I may be crazy, you would of most likely had more fun if you played though all 8 worlds, not skip as many as possible.Stumpokapow said:First Impressions From The Most Important Man On The Internet:

Teknoman said:I used to by psyched to find warp zones...but these days, it seems like it's better to play all the worlds.
Ranger X said:QUESTION:
If I quick save, is the save there next time I boot the game or its a complete failure of a feature since I would need to not turn off the game?
.
Teknoman said:Whoa.
Speevy said:I should have specified that I don't believe in backtracking or warping. Game is short enough as it is.
Drkirby said:For the power ups, I love Ice Flower the best. While the Penguin suit adds more, the Ice Flower is far more common, and acts as a beefed up Fire Flower in most cases. The propeller hat is also pretty fun, but I have to say I almost like using the propeller block more.
Zzoram said:Is it shorter than NSMB DS or same length?

I am right now running though the worlds in a single path, just because I want to see how the game ends before I get it spoiled. I'll go back for the other levels and star coins after.Teknoman said:Yeah, when I open the game, i'm just going to play like Galaxy. Make sure to 100% a world before moving on to the next.
