Yep, and when hit with fire those tentacles popped out in them. But no matter what we did, including using ALL of the flamethrower on him, they never appeared.

Yeah, my first playthrough I hosed that fucker down with fire for like 30 minutes and shot the weak spots that appeared and still nothing. I tried a few more times and finally said fuck it and RPGed that motherfucker. I've played through RE5 probably 3 or 4 times, and I always save the RPG you find on the swamp level for that fucker.

You guys were playing the PC version right? I Didn't have trouble with that flamethrower boss fight in both console versions.

If people come up with a bunch of goofy full conversions for a bunch of the human player/NPC models, I'll totally double-dip on RE5 PC. Making them all up to look like characters and enemies from Half-Life 2 would be pretty funny.

Just finished the game last week. Enjoyed some parts, and hated many, especially
Matrix-like Wesker
, QTEs,
the boss fight in the boat
and the mid-game item management. Sheva managed to be the death of me few times, by f.ex. giving me ammo for my last empty slot instead of grenades which I needed.

The thing I enjoyed the most was Lost in Nightmares DLC, which was refreshingly a return to the old, more horror oriented, roots. Albeit, I was disappointed there wasn't any
zombies
, and its length (
about 1½ hours
) was also a disappointment.

The online co-op for the DLC is dead. I need a partner to run through Desperate Escape on professional. If interested add me on Xbox live : Apharmd Striker

Finally started the game and playing co op with a friend. It's really fun especially with the MOVE.

Anyways, I got to the flying scorpion boss fight that comes out of the tanker. I pick up proximity mines and place them on the ground... how do I detonate it? I don't get any prompt to detonate it and I press the firing (move) button but I just dropped another mine again. What am I doing wrong??

It has to run on top of the mines. You cant manually detonate them, and you dont have to worry about friendly fire.

Sorry for the bump, but I was wondering if you can unlock the achievement/trophy called Who Do You Trust while playing the campaign online with a friend. I must have healed my buddy over 20 times and he thanked me every single time and nothing has popped out for him. We're in chapter 4 now and despite me giving him ammo/healing him and him thanking me...nothing. Meanwhile, I remember I got it fairly quickly when I played the game offline. Is it even possible to unlock it while playing online??

I'm only missing two more trophies which is maxing out all the weapons and beating the game in Professional. I already got past one of the hard parts in Professional which is the Ndesu fight so I'm confident I can beat it...though I don't know how I'm going to do on the Jill/Wesker fight. I remember that being a huge problem on Veteran...I can't even imagine how it's going to be like on Professional where you're almost dead with one fucking shot. Maxing out all the weapons is taking it's time and a bit of an overkill because upgrading it to the max takes a lot of money, which you don't get that much unless you replay a whole level. Any tips on getting good money? I've been replaying the chapter where the Lickers appear, but farming for money in the same spot is so boring.

I've had Lost in Nightmares for a while and I just discovered that you could play the first part in classic old RE style! I didn't fucking know, but holy damn was that a fucking AWESOME addition! :lol

-This is a pretty big one. Most people are probably aware that certain enemies have a 100% chance to turn into some kind of las plagas (best example being Allyson in 1-2), and the only way to prevent that is breaking her neck or causing an explosion. Other specific enemies has a random chance of turning into a long neck... but it's not completely random. If you kill them by shooting their head (this also includes melees doing damage at the head), only then is there about a 75% chance of them turning into a las plagas. If you kill them by shooting anywhere else, there's a 0% chance of them turning into a las plagas.
Yeah, I've known about this one for a while. I remember the first time playing S75-only, in the 2-2 underground mine area, and noticing I was getting a ridiculous amount of Plagas spawns. It also applies to Kipepeo (the flying type) as well.

Thanks for clearing that up! How odd that it doesn't work online. Thanks again!

I think the best solution is to master QTE and, if you play with a friend, one of you should capture Jill and hold her constantly through the entire fight (it is possible, you just need a good timing), while the other one should just run from Wesker. Or, if you feel confident enough, you can try beating Wesker's ass through QTE.

The later fight with Jill alone is a lot harder, because you need to shoot like several rockets into her device o_O, and yet she can kill you pretty quickly. I can't even tell how many "fucks" did we say when we were doing that part with my friend :D.

First off, wear the bulletproof vest for the fight, it will let you survive about 3 bullets on Professional at full health. Without it, a single bullet will put you in the orange.

If you're playing with a partner, it's pretty manageable. At the very start of the fight, have one player run behind Jill while she does her backflip and mash X/Square as she finishes. Then after grabbing her, have the other player throw her. This will keep her incapacitated for about a minute and makes things much easier.

Next, run over to the door on the right side and trigger the cutscene with Wesker kicking you through it. The other player behind him can quickly shoot him with two magnum shots right as the scene ends, which should temporarily drop him to his knees, giving you a chance to do the melee combo on him (which is always X/X/B/A/X+A, or Square/Square/Circle/X/Square+X).

If you want to do it easy mode, you can take out Wesker with a single rocket from behind. Or do the entire fight in the open area without triggering the side door, though doing so won't let you get the treasure and other items behind the door. But ultimately, as long as keep flanking Wesker, and keep track of Jill (who is the far greater threat), you should be fine.

If you're doing this with the AI, however, it's much, much more annoying.

Thanks for the tips! I finally did it tonight. I died 30 times during the first part of the fight because of Sheva's AI. Damn, I was so pissed off because she just kept fucking up every single run. I found an easier method in beating it and that was to trigger the cutscene and hope that Sheva makes it safely inside without being attacked by Jill/Wesker...once she's inside, I ran through the tunnels and exited them to attack Wesker from behind with a Rocket Launcher. Bam, first part of the fight was finished. As for the second part, I only died once...it was pretty easy. I just stood behind Jill and kept restraining her over and over again to let Sheva aim at her chest device with the infinite magnum. It takes about 7 shots to her chest for you to successfully pull the device off. Feels good, man!

Now to finish chapter 6 on Pro!

I feel really stupid for asking this but here goes:

Currently mid way though Chapter 3, and one thing has really been bugging me. I've been collecting a bunch of diamonds, rubies, and other gems throughout. But I never get the option to place them on top of one of the decorative masks/other treasures such where I can clearly see theres a slot perfect for placing a gem on.

So are we just meant to sell the gems as they are or is it possible to combine with the other treasures?

Thanks for the vids. I will cheggem out :)

Out of curiosity, have you ever managed to do a full *Solo* run in Public Assembly, combo-ing all 150 enemies without using any mods or a trainer?

I'm not sure. I rarely play solo anyway. I have lost the savegame where I played the most mercenaries, so I can't check that. I've done a few random solo runs recently here and there, and I usually get a combo of around 50-90 depending on the stage.

In other news: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xbNzcwpTDQ - 3:08 - Best headshot ever!

Just finished Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape with the Move. LiN was fantastic. DE was good too, but only because it was short and varied. I prefer the slower pace of the first DLC. Very cool!

thought LIN was kind of stupid because of that stupid monster that chases you around. DE was awesome especially the roof finale that kept escalating in terms of how tough it can get.

I have been playing this on the pc lately since I bought it super cheap, the old benchmark looked good but damn the entire game is gorgeous! it's been a good year+ since I last played it on the 360 since I sold it just before the DLC came out, doh.

Truth be said I only played the 360 version in split screen co-op for the most part, replayed areas on my own but never did a complete solo run, so the pc version is my first solo attempt on normal.

RE5 is a game I hate and love at the same time.

Hi.

I've got the Gold Edition and I'm trying to get used to the controls. I played RE4 Wii Edition two times already.

I don't feel so confortable using MOVE as I was using the wiimote. Something is wrong. My crosshair just doesn't stop where I want, it just runs wild on the screen. It's really hard to stop the crosshair on the enemy's heads.

What's the best configuration for camera to get better results?

Hi,

has anyone here already heard about the unofficial patch that restores splitscreen story mode to the PC version of RE5?

For me, the missing Splitscreen mode was the main reason I held off on buying the PC version; that's why I'm wondering why this isn't already being discussed here as the patch was released around March 2011, apparently.
Or maybe no one knew about it before. I only stumbled upon it by accident. It only works with two controllers, keyboard & mouse are not supported.

I'm guessing there's been no talk about it as there's little talk about RE5 in general at this point.

It's odd Capcom didn't add in the feature officially. Besides a few minor bugs, it works just fine.
