I am confused. Is the fishing game a port of the DC game or is it "Real Motion Fishing"?

It's a port + new stuff. Updated graffikth.

Sounds interesting Panther. I had the Japanese DC version when it first came out and the announcer dude was hilarious. That game rocked. 15 stages sounds wicked on the Wii version. I remember the DC version having far less than that. Will this be sold at a cheap price like HOTD2+3?

Will HOTD2+3 get similar updates?

My buddy bought "Real Motion Fishing" and said it sucked. He took it back. Anyone else here play it yet and if so, thoughts?

I'm sure you know already but this is the post to tell you fuckers that SMASH was moved to March in the OP.

:(

Anybody else agree that March now looks completely overloaded?

Poor, poor Okami. And any other third party that thought March would be safe without a juggernaut Nintendo release. Delay everything until April!

NITROBIKE
Samurai Warriors Katana

Both of those released today...anybody buy em? I think I have a pretty good feel for what NITRO will be like, but I'm wondering about Katana, and I don't see a review in site. I know it was supposed to be pretty muddified graphics, but looked like a lot of fun. Any impressions would be appreciated from either game.

Once a game releases I think I will just be linking the official thread to the banner for that very purpose. If there are any contributions (official thread links, videos, pics, updates), I can use all the help that I can get.

I already got Okami for PS 2 and didn't even finish it.

i got a two questions: (Thanks!)

Is Okami on Wii a direct port?

Any changes or adding new contents that not on PS 2?

We have enough information on Blastworks: Build, Trade, and Destroy for a banner. We do not have enough information on them, but both Mushroom Men and Wild Earth: Safari should at least have a mention (and no, I am not kidding about Wild Earth - the PC version was rated quite well, and should serve as a diversion for those who enjoy Eternal Ocean).

This year actually looks pretty good - I just hope that the Wii collects some more of these quirky exclusive titles (and that the already announced ones are good). Will you be adding Wiiware titles when the release dates are announced, Panther?

Good to hear. I've been curious about that, it LOOKS like it'd be fun, and the graphics look pretty darn decent too.

Gonna definitely keep my eye on it.

So if brawl was moved in order to not conflict with galaxy's release, then is mario kart been moved to not interfere with brawl's new release?

Also what can I expect from Dragon Quest Swords? I have never played a Dragon Quest game but it looks interesting,

1.

Currently listed for May and sitting in the Q2 section of the OP. Also, please, PLEASE clicky for the FUCKING AWESOME BLAST of the game that this game is based on (Tumiki Fighters).

2. I need Boxes or Artwork for either of those games to get banners. I'm all for hype but we need something.

3. Not sure how to approach WiiWare titles yet. I suppose we could do the same exact thing we're already doing (putting out there games that we think could be good, fun, or unique). I think we would have to be even more selective on those games to profile.

Thanks for the tips, they're appreciated.

I *think* I read $19.99. I could be wrong. Not sure about WiiWare.

This looks pretty damn good! I love the artwork at their site. I love these quirky, understated games. These are the unknowing titles that in 5 years, we will look back and say, THAT was the avalanche.

edit: thanks vv

Minor correction: the developer is Red Fly Studios, published by Gamecock. Red Fly is also behind the Fall 08 Ghostbusters Wii.

i have seen with my own two eyes two thirtysomething women in my workplace giggling like school girls over the upcoming wii fit release.

2008 will be a very good year for nintendo. very good, indeed.

It will be interesting to see how Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None will do. It has the potential of being attractive to the casual Wii audience as well as to adventure fans, and should show the level of interest for future PC->Wii ports (otherwise we only have Secret Files Tunguska upcoming, and currently non-PC Zack and Wiki as well as Harvey Birdman, both from Capcom).

However, the game recieved 6.8-8s, so a 7 on average (a B+ from JustAdventure) - generally good reviews, but seen as a a big easy - which might actually be a plus for the target non-hardcore demographic who might see it and be curious at playing a murder mystery.

Starting a new thing here. I will be profiling games that are coming soon and think need a little more attention but may not have (or deserve) a whole thread dedicated to them. Here goes.

Details
[] Constantly changing dungeon: The Neuro Tower, like the rest of the world, is constantly distorting. Room structures, pathways, and item locations will be different every time the protagonist enters, affecting the player's strategy.

[] Death / Revival / Reincarnation: Baroque is very dependent on the player's actions and interpretations of the information revealed. You can leave in the middle of the conversations with characters if you wish, but you may miss out on important dialogue that enables you to piece together the whole story. Even the player's "death" will affect the world. In Baroque, the protagonist's death does not mean that the player's game is over. Discoveries and progress will be made through repetitions of "death" and "revival."

[] Combat Strategy: There are various types of items to be found in the Neuro Tower. By choosing your equipment effectively, the protagonist can become formidable in battle. "Weapons" differ not only in strength but in attack speed, range, and accuracy. It will be important to select the items and equipment that are most effective as the situations in combat change.

[] Item Fusion: The Cursebringer Angel, a character encountered randomly in the Neuro Tower, has the ability to fuse items together. You may obtain useful and mysterious items by throwing unwanted items to the Cursebringer Angel. You can also use the Cursebringer Angel to exchange rotten flesh and hearts for fresh ones.

[] Item Collecting/Upgrades: Items found during the trip through the Neuro Tower will disappear upon reaching the bottom, or if the protagonist dies. However, by using Conciousness Orbs located in the Neuro Tower, the player can send items to the Outer World to be used in subsequent adventures. Mastering this concept allows the player to keep upgrading the equipment.

[] Extra Options: There are plenty of optional settings, such as "Game Configurations, " "Scene List," "Item List," "Event List" and "Sound Test," once the game is finished. "Baroque List" was also added in this remake.

===============

This is a game that at the right price could be really worth a purchase. I'm imagining an Etrian Odyssey in a tower (and randomized dungeons) with a little crafting thrown in for good measure. If this game has decent music and above average presentation (I think it still needs a bit of polish), this could really be a nice product. Let's see how it goes.

I'm very hopeful that this is the case.

there's some info about the original game, as well as some of the changes made for the ps2/wii versions here: http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/sting/sting2.htm

they've said that there are some motion controls in the wii version, but that they're being very conscious to keep it from being at-all tiring, so i expect minimal arm waving (i'd be happy with just a pointer-look feature i think). a lot of hardcore rpg fans are going to have the option to play this on the ps2, so the controls are important for wii sales (assuming there is little difference on the visuals).

it seems quite roguelike in structure, with huge penalties for dying, and a "restart from the beginning" mechanic that tempts me a lot, but will likely turn many off as well.

Hows the story Panther?

Looks trippy but perhaps a little generic. Post-apocalyptic world with wandering metal beings. Protaganist with a memory problem. Red-eyed angel (demon?) approaches said protaganist with a major guilt trip: YOU MUST ATONE FOR YOUR SINS BY GOING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE NEURO TOWER.

Official Site said:
"and so he roams, carrying nothing but the guilt for a sin he doesn't remember committing. He heads to the Neuro Tower to save himself...and the world."

I get the impression that the "neuro tower" represents somebody's soul and the quest represents "cleansing one's soul." I could be wrong, but if that is the case it seems like a decent story to justify random game play.

Source was just an Atlus email containing other info (progressive scan, widescreen, etc). Did it have a hard February date before?

Wait - does the Wii game have improved resolution/graphics then?

The Baroque list seems to be a kind of Achievements list, based on the screenshot on the Atlus website. I worry for Baroque - in February, it at least had a chance, but March is much, much too crowded.

Honestly I really don't have high hopes for the sales of Baroque.

It's the kind of game we need to see more of on Wii, but not only is it going to get lost in the Month of Brawl, it's also a PS2 port and an unhyped PS2 port at that.

Hopefully the game gets some solid marketing, though i doubt that will be the case,in the US at least. It might do better in Japan. Let's hope so anyway.

On the other hand, it -is- an Atlus game, which means it will have low shipments which will inevitably sell out very quickly. And the game is niche enough that maybe not many PS2/PS3 owners will pick it up, whereas Wii owners might just to have a more traditional RPG experience. It all depends on Atlus's expectations, I guess. I am just personally worried because this Wii edition was extra commisioned for the NA market by Atlus, and I would really like to see more Wii titles coming from them in the future (besides Trauma Center).

Let's hope Atlus's expectations aren't too high, and that the game appeals to enough of the Wii market (though i have my doubts). If it does, it would help promote further Atlus support for the console, which is something I really want to see (and something i became worried about after TC: New Blood's dismal performance last month).

1. Baroque Wii = $39.99 :)

2. Release date confirmation for Baroque? Their own fuckin' website doesn't even list it. And I refuse to go by that press release from yesterday. It's so wrong its disgusting. If you didn't already know, anything that lists games out longer than a month or two in advance is probably very wrong.

3. Assuming Baroque IS bumped to March, February is starting to look a bit barren of quality titles, which is a good thing for DRAGON QUEST SWORDS. Maybe this is being arranged to give Square the space it deserves for its first Wii title? A movement in good faith? Maybe there's a reason the US version of Smash got delayed a month but the JPN only a week?

4. DQS stands alone in February. This is good. March is WAY overloaded. Won't be surprised if more shit gets bumped up or pushed back.

Im gonna have to be really picky with what games I pick up this time around. Spent far too much cash last year...damn fall flood of games. Then again that was the first time in a LONG time anything like that has happened in gaming.

So far (as far as Wii purchases go) i'm looking at:
No More Heroes
Smash Bros
House of the Dead 2+3
Dragon Quest Swords

Kinda glad I havent really seen anything PS3/360 wise except Burnout and DMC4....damn just remembered Lost Odyssey. Some of these are going to have to wait for some CAG help :lol
