Hard for me to say it's overused when Kojima is really the only one using this style, and even then you're also comparing slower cutscenes in MGS vs. the action scenes in Unity or UC3, so I don't really see them being better as opposed to just different due to the nature of the cutscenes.
Both Unity, UC3, and TLOU suffer the sudden transitions of gameplay into cutscenes though. You'll be exploring or running and out of nowhere a cutscene triggers without easing you into it, with completely different character placements and movements. In MGSV Kojima eliminated this kind of camera cut.
I think that is mostly the case because the cutscenes are not real time.
You can have much better camera control when the are .
