RSTEIN said:OK, for all those that are going to have to wait for Aug 21, go do yourself a favour and read either The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged. Or, at the very least, read Ayn Rand's (Andrew Ryan - get it?) wiki entry:

just tried the one in bloomington and looks like the guy knew his shit, he wants the game too LOL not even in stock yetsk3tch said:Funny, I just tried the Minnetonka, MN location. No BioShock.
Walked away with Madden 360 and Mario Strikers Charged for $78 total, though.![]()

Pick one up and go to your local GameStop with game + receipt in hand and ask them if you can purchase the Collector's Edition now since the street date was broken. If he seems hesitant simply remind him that you wish to give GameStop your patronage and if he's still not sure that he should call his District Manager to confirm.RiskyChris said:I'm seriously wanting to ram my head through a wall. This is all the fault of that fucking toy Big Daddy. WHY AM I A CONSUMER WHORE!

Eric WK said:Man, the official Cult of Rapture forums are going berserk right now.
Stories of people having bribed Gamestop/EB employees, people saying their EB is selling the game, stories of places like Fry's selling it this morning.
This whole thing is a clusterfuck.
No, but Rapture is very obviously based on a setting in Atlas Shrugged. That setting is actually the entire point of the novel.BenjaminBirdie said:If it doesn't contain the line of dialogue "'NO' says the man in Moscow, it belongs to EVERYONE," then I ain't innarested.

That is, honestly, one of the loneliest TRU locations anywhere. What they were thinking when they decided to put it on a little-traveled frontage road, opposite Ridgedale and Best Buy and Target...I haven't a clue. And then that crap music instrument store to the left... No, I won't be paying ~$700 for your Fender knock-off.sk3tch said:Funny, I just tried the Minnetonka, MN location. No BioShock.

It would be pretty cool if there was an enemy in Bioshock named John Galt. That would be an awesome tie-in.

Is this doable in a week without straining myself? I read fast, but 1200 pages is still a lot. I finished Deathly Hallows in a day, but that was written in like 20 point font.
Also, from what I've randomly heard in philosophy classes, I don't agree with anything in these books. Would that cease any appreciation I could get from it?
You're right, of course. This bile, it does not taste yummy. If I was at home, I would dull the pain with a little help from my friends in Le Jardin Mystérieux; aka, Viva Piñata.BenjaminBirdie said:It's flawed, but it is the fundamental reason. And angry customers are much more of a long term hassle then giddy satisfied ones and MS knows that "delaying" release to street date is not going to cost them a single one.
Zozz said:Gamestop just said they are not selling it no matter what, the guy told me they received an email from HQ not to break the street date.. I even told the guy I could slip in a few extra buck for him but he didn't break!

I called GS, asked if I could pre-order the CE he said "Yeah, sure." Then I told him about TRU selling it, he said "Oh really? Hold on, I'll talk to the manager" after like 5 minutes he comes back and tells me "just come here at like 2:00 pm then we'll have some to sell."
Confirmed - My local EB games is now selling BioShock to the people that preordered the LE.

Seconded, as people who have read earlier in the thread realize my opinion of Objectivism.Eric WK said:And I don't think you need to agree with Objectivism at all to appreciate Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead.
I wouldn't try it. I (like a lot of high schoolers) was in love with this book years ago, and I read it four or five times over a period of five years. It's definately not something to be tackled in less than two weeks. I read it the first time in three weeks, and I remember being able to do it in a little less than two during the summer.Baker said:To the people saying to read Atlas Shrugged:
