We need our resident journalists to get on the phone and prod.

exxy, skip, chrisremo, jim, buddyc, shidoshi, kohler, geek, crecente...and everyone else who my frenzied brain has missed. Voice our displeasure! Find out what's up!

I just called my local eb/gamestop in Ellicott City, MD (near Columbia) and the dude was just opening up their boxes of shipments in now. He said they had CE and regular, 360 and PC and they are selling them now. He made No mention of any street date or anything.

I just pray they are still selling them by the time I get off work tonight and am able to pick up my pre-ordered collector's edition.

Anyone call the EB at 30 Rock in NYC? I'm sure someone reading this has.

Wow, I literally just hung up with them.
They won't be breaking the street date, but they will probably receive their stock today.

That is, honestly, one of the loneliest TRU locations anywhere. What they were thinking when they decided to put it on a little-traveled frontage road, opposite Ridgedale and Best Buy and Target...I haven't a clue. And then that crap music instrument store to the left... No, I won't be paying ~$700 for your Fender knock-off.

It's only rivaled by the ghost town that is the TRU here in Salem, OR.

:lol

So true. When I went to go pre-order Madden on Monday (to get the $5 GC) I actually got lost getting to it! I could SEE the damn place from 394 and I had gone by it so many times in the past. I had no idea it was off that damn little road by a bunch of car dealerships!!

The same dude works in the game section every time I've been in since Monday. It must be lonely as hell. There's never anyone else in the game area with me. It's even funnier too because they now have the game section in its own little secured "playpen." It's like we're going in to look at pr0n in a backroom or something. :lol

Just wanted to make sure they have it in stock when Corporate flips the switch.

:D

So is there any official word yet? Most games do not come with street dates, is it just a matter of shipping the game a week early? Any head start to finish the game before Metroid Prime 3 is welcome.

I just got off the phone with my local Eb Games and the guy said the street date is August 21st and they can't sell it before then.

damn it..

No official word yet. We need to start giving 2K Corporate a call.

Heads-up to Tampa folk: I just called the one on Fowler and the one at the Brandon Town Center.

BTC didn't get it yet and Fowler ran out of stock an hour ago.

Sounds like a plan. If the game is shipping early there is no reason why a title like this should have a street date. No offense to Bioshock but I'm pretty sure even with the hype they need all the sales they can get.

Not to mention the Circuit City. I don't think I ever saw more than 10 cars in the parking lot.

I was just recently back, and saw the remodeled Target. I like. The only good thing about going to that TRU, is that you can drool as you pass by the Maseratis at the, uh, Mazda dealership.

Oh, and sk3tch, I'm still pissed about the boondoggle that is the toll lane on 394 and I moved away a year ago. I was able to take Metro (Express, baby!) to work from St. Louis Park; they essentially made 394 a two lane road. People were up in arms immediately. Funny when MNDOT stated, "Well, we can't change the programming." Well, that, and the Feds with their grants would be displeased.

Yeah, cause 2K to send out a notice to all retailers breaking the date...thus any "ignorance" claims will be shut down.
Most likely it would be the opposite scenario if there really is a street date to begin with. As far as my store goes, we get little word about anything like this however we still did not receive our shipment in yet.

To the people saying to read Atlas Shrugged:

Is this doable in a week without straining myself? I read fast, but 1200 pages is still a lot. I finished Deathly Hallows in a day, but that was written in like 20 point font.

Also, from what I've randomly heard in philosophy classes, I don't agree with anything in these books. Would that cease any appreciation I could get from it?
It's an okay book. The core principle behind it is the core principle behind the creation of Rapture, so there is definitely a strong similarity. For the first 400 or so pages, you won't know what the hell is going on. Then there will be a couple hundred pages where you are angrier than you've ever been at characters in a book. It ends pretty well.

My biggest criticism of the book is that it takes a principle that is a good one when applied in moderation and takes it so far to the extreme that there's no way the world could last if people did as the book advocated. If you read it, you'll see that it seems to advocate some truly heartless stuff, like absolutely never giving to anyone who is in need. It's not as bad as the philosophies that it is reacting to and criticizing, but it's just way too extreme. And again, basically heartless. And it ignores the fact that human beings are social animals.

I'm sure this was asked, but anyone check the TRU in Queens on Northern Boulevard? Probably will make a run to some local mom and pop shops that have no allegiances to street dates.

Yeah, yeah, Minnesota REPRESENT!

Anything heard about our options here in the twin cities? I've called the TRUs in the area and got 2 NOs and a "check back later" from maple grove.

EDIT:

Try this. God knows these people don't even check half the time:

Copied from 2k forums copied from team xbox forums.

#3. DO NOT ASK FOR BIOSHOCK

Ask for this Give Reps the Item #815893 Reps are dumb and might just say no without checking give the item # then ask how many in stock or in the inventory in the back.

Item #: 815893

SKU: 8CEA5020

UPC/EAN/ISBN: 710425299636

Manufacturer #: 29963

Parma, OH TRU has it in stock. Picked it up at 11:15, people behind the counter said it had been flying off the shelves since they opened, and that the few copies they had left wouldn't last long. I'd post picks if I could, but I'm stuck at work.

Madness, nice snag.

Looks like South Florida is getting stonewalled. Called around and went to a few TRU's in the Broward/Dade area (live in Dade, work in Broward) and even though I know that most stores have already received their copy most of them won't even acknowledge it or will flat out lie.

:(

What made me laugh is that when I was getting these, the videogame dept at TRU got like 2 calls asking for this, and the employees looked at each other and were like "whats the big deal with this game" and I just smiled and took my games and left.

I went to Gamestop here in VA and they aren't breaking the date.

Worse than that, I just got called for a commercial that shoots Monday - Wednesday, so I can't play my CE preorder until Thursday.

Not a problem for me, I work from home. :D

Why 3(assuming your going to sell). This whole fiasco is sort of making me mad...
