Why not both? For something like this, I feel like using Discord would just segment the community. Why not just use the thread?

Well
People can hate anything I guess
It's the only moment in the entire trilogy that focuses on mythology, and it's used in a way that explores Palp's motivations and Anakin's insecurities. At that point Anakin kinda understands that Palp isn't who he says he is.. But his desire to save Padme overcomes everything else
It's actually a pretty awesome scene that accomplishes something for its characters while expanding SW mythos
Im probably in the minority here, but is anyone else enjoying the prequels more than Episode 7?
Yeah, it's still flawed, but all to have to do is replace midis with "the force" and that is fixedProblem for me is that it tries to bring midichlorians back into the picture to explain how it all.
If you don't like sand you should really enjoy it!I cant wait to watch The Phantom Menace but Im already dreading having to watch Attack of the Clones.

Anakin's mother dying in his arms was a legit sad moment. Poor Annie.
Anakin: "I murdered all these sand people!"
Padmé: "Well, I'll just forget that happened by the movie's end."
Probably the best moment in the film. There's actual emotional resonance. Maybe the only good thing that came from TPM, from a storytelling perspective. Setting up that momentAnakin's mother dying in his arms was a legit sad moment. Poor Annie.
I still cant believe they all just let that poor woman be doomed to slavery. I get that they couldnt do a whole upheaval of Tatooine but ffff. Surely someone would have been smart enough to know it would have made Anakin resent them.Anakin's mother dying in his arms was a legit sad moment. Poor Annie.
Seems like maybe the Jedi could have found a way to pay for her freedom, if nothing else, especially once they sensed Anakin's dark futureI still cant believe they all just let that poor woman be doomed to slavery. Actually, I've been thinking about this, and I think he's got a point.
Also I've never used Discord too. I don't know if I'll bat an eye towards it afterwards.
So yeah I think thread it is then. Will update the OP.
Most of our international schedules don't line up for live thread commentary anyway, so people will be reacting throughout the day and week anyways. I thought live discord would be fun for the few people whose schedules DO align.
MMarston, you're breaking my heart!Yeah, basically. I'll still set up times where we could do synchronized watches for anyone who wants to do that, but it'll all just be in this thread.

You have any thoughts for initial timings?
Because of Obi-Wan?MMarston, you're breaking my heart!
Because of discord! And what you don't plan to do!Right now, I'm thinking 7pm PST on Saturdays. Will vary for each movie maybe.
Because of Obi-Wan?
Am I the only person who likes Return of the Jedi more than Empire Strikes Back?
Like, I fully acknowledge that Empire is the tighter, more cohesive film, and Jedi is a tonal mess in parts, but I love it for it. Also Ewoks.
There's actually a huge amount of fans who like Jedi the best.Yes you are.

I've always been meaning to watch these films. I hear Attack of the Clones is the best one.

I don't want to hear about discord anymore.Because of discord! And what you don't plan to do!
"Oh, this is such a drag."
I did a saga rewatch before TFA and I kinda swore to myself that I'll never watch 1 or 2 ever again (at least sober). I'll probably catch up with ya'll for Sith, at least that one is unintentionally hilarious. Honestly if you're gonna watch the first two stinkers you may as well watch the Clone Wars film just for the potential reaction gold from first time viewers.
The only reaction people would have to TCW is boredom.
Starting a bit early to get through Ep I. Heavy sigh when starting it. If I start it now Ill work up the ability to finish it by Saturday.

If we're going to watch a Clone Wars movie...
Especially since the Grievous in that one is hilariously overpoweredNon-canon, unfortunately.

Super-spicy hot take: Clone Wars '03 is visually beautiful but is otherwise lame and Clone Wars '08 is the far superior show in all other regards.
True, but is there really anything in there that contradicts canon? It also leads perfectly into Episode 3.
It's better to get the prequels out of the way than to watch them later at least!Chronological order?

Since we're watching Episode I tomorrow, let's turn the clock back all the way 1999, when people paid to watch Meet Joe Black just for a trailer and millions of Americans skipped work to line up for this party of mediocrity.
