The Trials HD Official Thread

Is there an actual strategy for getting across those 2 balls at the end of the Dynamic Range track (Hard), I seem to get across with pure luck and lots of faults.. Ugh.

Yes when you reverse they move forward. then jump from 1 to another. not that hard

finally finished Goin' Up (with about 3 minutes to spare!), now it's time to tackle Inferno, which i can currently get about 1/3 of the way through

one of my favorite games this year! I have pretty good leaderboard scores. I'm only just getting to the hard levels. Only one person on my friends list has the game. Send me an invite.

That drove me nuts also. speed upto the first ball and use it as a launch pad onto the the 2nd ball. Then balance there and the ball will move forward. Keep you balance and then come off when ready.

I have trouble with the oh-so-common setup of "Inclined Ramp to even more so Inclined Ramp." I always bounce off the second one. It's really frustrating, but really addicting.

Same here, last night I spent a LOT of time trying Rise and Fall in the hard tier. It seems I get worse the more I keep trying it some times!

I'm so glad I bought this game, it's so bloody good. The first time I've been addicted to a game for a while.

God this game is awesome.

How can I view my own replays?

Unless you get in the top 500 on the leaderboards you can only watch your replay after the race by pressing X. If you have a top 500 time you can go to the leaderboards and press Y on the player highlighted.

I bought it today and played it for about 3 hours. Overall it's a well designed game, but its just not for me. Part of the problem is I recently finished Splosion Man so Trials feels like a clunky platformer. Maybe I'll try again in a few months.

Anyone know why my brother's times and my times would not be showing up on each other's best times ranking? We each have a gamertag and sign in when we play. But he just has his times on his leaderboard, and I just have mine. I would think they should show both of them.

Is he on your friends list? Otherwise they're not going to show up and it wouldn't make sense for them to. Considering you have separate profiles, I would assume you would know why they exist and how they work.

Sometimes my friend leaderboards don't show up until I push Y to open the leaderboard screen. Pushing B to go back to the level select screen now displays my friends times.

Assuming he is on your friends list.

This love these quick restart/hilariously difficult games! I will say that I feel that some levels are made almost too frustrating, though.

Sometimes it seems like if they had tweeked the position of just one or two things in some levels the whole game would be more fun. I'm not saying make the game easier(I love games like this), but when I restart a level 20 times and 16 of those times are because my guys head JUST manages to face-plant into a platform 2 seconds after I start, even my N+ trained patience runs thin.

Man, fuck MS' 'friends-only' user levels restrictions. If this had an LBP-style open market for user levels, it would be pretty much the most glorious thing ever.

nothing to do with MS, its an XBLA game, they cant afford to host and moderate every track, only a full retail title would bring in enough money for that

I'm not creative enough to make levels, so add me (dLMN8R) if you have some cool ones :lol I've added a bunch of people here for leaderboards.

Over 76,000 sales so far. :)

I hope there is some (free) DLC in the future.
Using leaderboards to determine specific sales numbers can yield results that are way off. I personally live in an apartment with one 360 and two people who all play the same copy of a game, which puts 2 names on the leaderboard for one sold copy.

Obviously that's not a universal situation, but I have to believe that multiple people sharing a single copy of an XBLA game is a very very common thing.

I plan on getting this later today but no one on my friends list is playing.

Feel free to add me as well for leaderboards. I also look forward to playing some user created levels!

Basically the amount of times this happens usually means the numbers are off about 10%. Online numbers are obviously skewed a whole lot more. Games like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 only show Ranked leaderboards, while the majority of people play Player Matches.

Didn't stop it from getting 50,000 on its Ranked Leaderboards in its first week - which I believe is probably a third of the people who played it :)

This game is awesome and I am already waiting for new game, maybe coop? it is an excellent, excellent game, spend whole weekend playing it, are there any crazy user made levels yet?

I just beat the second extreme level.

What I did not know is that you have a time limit (30 min) and a retry limit (500).
I beat that fucking damn level with circa 300 retries and 29 minutes and 55 seconds. :D:D:D
My heart was beating like crazy.

I found the best way to do it is to position yourself just slightly right of the center on the first one, and it will start rolling right. Then you just need to hold down reverse until it comes up to the next one, and pull left on the stick while you accelerate. That gets you on to the next ball and then all you need to do is roll off it quickly and you should make it to the end. The hard part is not going too far right or you'll just end up sandwiched, you need to be just a tiny bit off the center point.

They're still hosting every track with the current system. And maybe I lack imagination, but I don't really think this game is ripe for penis levels and other tomfoolery.

I really doubt any dev implements a level editor wanting custom levels to only be accessible to the 5 people on any given persons' friends list who own the game, rather than everyone that owns it. I think you're totally off base in not thinking it's a restriction put in place by MS, I'm sure they do it thinking an open market for user levels would hurt the sales of any potential DLC.

name another XBLA/PSN game that has open level sharing?

Question: The online community is going to have a lot of fun with the track editor, which is easily the most impressive creative tool seen since LittleBigPlanet, and they are going to have a lot of fun with it, but what about you guys? Are you going to continue to support the game through DLC, or are you going to let the community sustain itself with the tools you have provided?

Redlynx: There is certainly DLC on the way, and we're planning on going really overboard with the content! Also expect more environments and objects to be released to further expand the level editor. That, combined with the countless levels you can download from your friends over Xbox Live, there are always going to be new and exciting things to experience, no matter how long you play the game.

I've got gold on every medium level now other than Trippin' the Plywood. I just can't do it. :( Argh.

I think I'll just move on to hard and come back to it at a later date. I'm curious about my chances of getting any golds on hard, since medium took me a long time to get my current results. I probably spent upwards of an hour getting a gold on at least three tracks. :lol

Edit: That said, I just got a gold on the first hard track on my first go. :D

I am fucking addicted.

I hear ya, but sadly, I'm spending my time trying to shave off time for the leaderboards, HOWEVER.... when you finish one of the Extreme tracks,
Platinum medals are unlocked

Just beat the 2nd expert level in 28:20 and 442 faults. Sweet jesus christ that was hard.

Think i done it in with about 230 faults. Was damn hard!

I can't even get past the first checkpoint on the first extreme level. How the hell do you get over them boxes?

I'm not sure how that's supposed to defeat the argument. Doesn't the fact that none exist support my point?

no, but you seem to be calling this game out for lack of level sharing, unless theyre prepared to spend alot of money moderating the levels, its not gonna happen, all these files are stored on XBL servers

Mate, just played your level, very nice indeed. Will try and go for Gold (only got Bronze so far) when the sun goes down and the screen is easier to see. :D

Can't wait to see your next one.

Well, ended up buying it because itissomewhat fun.

Anyway, I've only got one person on my list for high scores, so some people please interested add me:

Gamertag is Kureishima

Sweet. :)

Thanks man!! I almost finished my second level I think I´ll go and work on it right now.. it´s quite something else than my first one, but it´s still cool :D.

Out of interest, how long do you think it took you roughly to finish the first level?

I want to sit down and spend some good time on the editor but the thing that annoys me the most is he small text since I am only on a 19" monitor.

Seems like I'm having a better day of it today than I did yesterday. Just got 13th on trials / tribulations.

Time to give in before it all comes crashing down. :lol

Quick question, Anyone notice sometimes when you start a track instead of showing the #1 ranked player at the top of the screen (to follow) it'll show a random position instead, this is at the very beginning before you even start (while its saying "Ready, Go") then eventually it switches to #1 after a few races..or randomly (shrug).

About 4 hours actually. I thought it was more but I don't think it was. I still had to learn it though. I'm taking alot longer with my current level because I am moving to a different city in 5 days so I don't have alot of time.

Well, I was about to purchase the game since Amazon had it for 10, but seems like it was an error, it's back to 15 :(

Not that the game isn't worth 15, but it was such a good deal that I was willing to ignore the fact that Shadow Complex and MvC2 were gonna take up my time up until Batman.
