Its not an every quest thing. Only some. Make sure you keep saving before completing quests in case you hit it
Cheat Engine here I come. Would be useful to know what the exp gain for specific missions are supposed to be. Guess I'll just bump my level up when it seems necessary you keep up with main quests. I just finished everything on the mainland and started Skellige so every quest is new.

Kinda hope they fix the climbing bug with this patch as well. Had to shelf this but all I want to do is play it more 
I had noticed a couple times during my playthrough that a mission did not give me experience and found it weird. Though because I did not know this was considered a bug and I thought it was some weird decision to not allocate experience for the specific mission. Anyways as someone who has been doing pretty much every sidequest I can, every witcher contract I can, and clearing out tons of ?'s on the map I still feel overleveled for where I am in the story. I am currently 4 levels above my recommended story mission.
So in my experience at least the experience bug is not so severe that you cannot play the game. I'm playing on Broken Bones diff, my story is only one anecdote though.
Horrible bug in any case, especially bad for console where there is no easy F5 to mash on throughout a quest progression.

This is my experience as well. I'm level 14 and I'm 4 levels ahead of the story quests and have a ton of green sidequests. I would welcome some XP loss to put me back in line with the difficulty curve as most of the quests are too easy, even playing on Death March.

Hmm. I've done as much side stuff and points of interests and whatnot as I could. I went to Skellige at level 20. I hardly ever get any XP cuz I've outleveled so many quests. Heck, even the level 30 fists of fury quests give me no XP.
This game is strange about when and how much XP it gives. I've done contracts in my level range, sometimes even a few levels higher than me and received no XP.
This is on 1.03 PS4. I figured it was just designed this way as my buddy is right around where I'm at and he gets no XP for most things as well.

I also did that quest and got 0. Going to have to go back a save file, hope it isn't far behind.
No, it's their fault that console owners have to wait a week or more to get the patch, whereas PC owners get it in 3 days. CDPR is also at fault, this is true, but if it wasn't for the mandatory certification process that Sony and MS enforce, this bug would (hopefully) be squashed by Monday on all platforms.
Same here. I thought those just weren't supposed to give XP. First inventory crash bugs and now this. I'm so done with day one AAA gaming that isn't from Nintendo.

Hmmm, kinda paranoid now. I've nearly 30 hours done and am at level 8.
Only completed the first part of the B. Baron's quest. Haven't visited the Witch or Novigrad yet.

God knows how much xp I missed. I've had quite a few quests complete with no xp ( green BTW not grey)
Time to chill and do something else while waiting

Don't know how many side-quests you've done, but I don't see any reason to be paranoid, level 8 sounds about right for only having done the first part of the Bloody Baron's quest.

I did two main quests, I got xp. I also did two treasure hunts, and I go 0. But I don't know if treasure hunt quests are supposed to give xp or not.

Again, it's not a patch issue. Present in all versions of the game.

Nope, not on the PS4 version, guessing wasn't fixed on the Xbox One either.

Doing sidequests and just exploring in general puts you way past the main quest levels. Game on, GAF.
Yup, thought the same too. Now I feel old and realize that XP is dead.

They should be happy, with the bug I'm 3 levels above the main quest. And even got to be 5 levels above, but I switched to Death March. Imagine without the "bug".

Yeah, the PC patch that fixes this went up after the console patch went to cert. I'd expect this, bigger fonts and broken XP fix in next week's update.
I'm playing on Blood and Broken Bones. No idea what difficulty the YouTuber was playing on.

Yes, people seem to hyperbole the problem a lot. It's not like you'll get gimped or anything like that.
I even now overleved to lots of side quests in Velen & Novigrad right now, level 15 doing level 10-12 quests.
One of my buddies has been studying this exp bug for a couple days now, and he has been able to recreate the circumstances that causes it. He showed me a video he recorded; if you accept a quest at night while it's raining, AND if your Geralt has a beard, the exp bug will occur until you shave again. Weird, I know.

I'm on hard (blood and broken bones?), and I think that also reduces exp gain. Thing is, this is a game where you can kill higher level things, if you do a little prep work, and play smart. I'm not some pro gamer, but monsters 10 levels higher are doable, and has lead to some of the most fun battles I can remember.

That will show up on later console patches. CDPR added it in a PC patch that still hasn't cleared console cert. Probably will get it next week.
XP is lower on higher difficulties. So it's possible that some quests on B&BB and DM get no XP. I wouldn't take a Youtube video as straight confirmation that you have the bug. Keep playing and see if other quests give you XP.

You may be locked out of side quests (failed) if you finish certain story quests.
