The Witcher devs to make a Cyberpunk 2020 game

I think this would make sense, especially if the game is fairly early in development. Would look so damn good with next gen systems as the baseline.

Could also see just a PC exclusive if Witcher 2 on 360 really was a bomba (which is disappointing, I'm having a blast with it on 360).
If it comes out in 2014 I'd expect it to be multiplatform out of the gate (not sure if both PS4/720 or just one of them as it mostly depends of the ease of programming and amount of available people).

Holy crap. I was more of a Shadowrun fan, but I owned a lot of Cyberpunk stuff too. It was more realistic and gritty (even not counting magic in SR).

Unfortunately, if it's anything like the Witcher 2, my PC won't be able to run it...

Maybe I'm just seeing what I want, but it sounds like it will be less linear than the Witcher games.

So is the official name of the game Cyberpunk? Because if so it tickles me to no end that there is a cyberpunk game coming out called Cyberpunk.

Giant backlog and willpower. :(

I suppose a lack of details and media might help that, too. :p

I'm hyped, but not "can not function right now" hyped. Not "tell everyone about it" hyped. I'm just waiting to see more information; oh I know CDP can deliver, I'm not worried about that, but I know little to nothing about the game, so I can't really start to dream too big/realistically.

I haven't played the older Cyberpunk game(s)

I'm excited, though. CD Projekt are one of my fave devs and I like the cyberpunk genre.

I was lookingforwaed to a cyberpunk game... I had no idea it would be the cyberpunk game!

Very hyped right now.

Most of that increase is probably the PC version, given the huge, week and change sales spike it had at the EE release. Last numbers I heard for the 360 were 250k worldwide out of a shipment of 500k. Not stellar, but I have no clue if they expected more.

They projected estimates of 1 million copies for the 360 version I believe.

Well, you were hyped for Mass Effect 3 when you had plenty of screenshots and videos and look what it got you. It's Cyberpunk, made by CD Projekt. If you're not choking on excitement yet, I don't know what to tell you.

(I'm not 100% serious)

I know what you're saying, but despite the shitty ending and a bottomless list of bugs, i was still satisfied (not nearly as much as i hoped of course). Hell, i'm still playing the multiplayer mode nearly 3 months later and dont see myself stopping soon with the new DLC they keep adding.

Still... can't wait to actually see that Cyberpunk game in action with graphics as good or even better than Witcher 2! Hopefully we'll get those screenshots/videos this year.

No, the press release mentions it as a "new triple-A game based on the cult classic Cyberpunk® pen & paper RPG system created by Mike Pondsmith". In other words, it's still untitled.

Originality at all costs seems like a pretty weird value to me. Cyberpunk strikes a balance between new and familiar, being an underused genre in videogames, but also featuring proven themes and aesthetic, which people have resonated with in the past. They've got a pretty decent license that offers them a baseline for the setting (as The Witcher) and also for the ruleset (which is a big plus considering CD Projekt is still not that great on that side), and it seems like it plays to their strengths and allows for a variety of stories to be told in it.

I mean, ultimately every opinion is legitimate, but I'm not really sure how this announcement can be singled out for a lack of originality or a disappointing setting choice.

This is probably more exciting than E3, and reading over Cyberpunk's wikipedia article has only made me more giddy.

Oh man this should be so good.

Still don't think really creepy/uncomfortable polygonal sex scenes constitute as "mature".

another person who hasn't played The Witcher games for more than 3 hours.

/yawn

also their sex scenes aren't creepy

So, just by the nature of games being games, does it mean the sex scenes can't be 'mature' (I'm already starting to hate the use of that) or tactfully directed?

also their sex scenes aren't creepy

.

I can give someone TW1's immaturity, maybe - them cards, but TW2 handled it much better. And creepy just doesn't fit.

Every time someone throws around this argument, it mostly reads like "I'm uncomfortable with sex so seeing a love scene makes me feel dirty" or something like that, to me.

Beside, as others already stated, that's not really what makes people say that The Witcher had a mature mood.
