Three in September - Backlog Warrior

Backlog games:

Tales of Xillia
Dishonored
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Also buying GTAV, Rayman Legends, Killzone Mercenary and The Wonderful 101 this month. Noooooooo

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Sweet Fuse: At Your Side
GTA V

Bonus:
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Puppeteer
Rayman Legends
Wonderful 101

Saints row (1)
GTA V
Fire Emblem Awakening

Fire emblem is tough, everyone keeps on dying :(
What difficulty are you on? I tried hard or w/e, not the hardest level just hard, and it's been a bit much and I'm looking to lower in difficulty. It's sacrilege but I might turn off perma death, or lower to easy, to be able to make it through my backlog... lol

I started on Normal put have put classic mode on, which seems to be my main problem.
Every time I start a battle I have everyone selected but could have four more, or at least so it tells me.

My tactic I use now is to just use my Main character, Chrom and Fredrick to kill everyone since the others seem to need constant healing if they get into a fight.
It might just be me being too careful though since I really don't want to lose anyone else.

The three I want to get done this month. :(

Tomb Raider (new one)
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow PC
Fire Emblem 3ds

Sleeping Dogs
Just happy to get this game over with. It was probably one of the more boring open world games I've played.

Vanquish
I'm blown away by how fun this game is. I really hope there's a Vanquish 2 now.

Journey
I was skeptical about this game at first but man what an amazing experience it turned out to be. I loved the anonymous coop part of it.

I'd like to start Demon's Souls this month but there's no way I'll finish it with school starting and how long that game is.

Planning on

Killzone Mercenaries
Dead Space 2 replay
Guacamelee

For the most part I think i'll play a lot of spelunky on vita and some shooters of some kind on pc or ps3.

I completely failed last month, as I unexpectedly moved & because of that, school started 3 weeks early for me. Seriously.

However, since this is only a 3 game thread, I'll do this really easily. I shelved the games I was supposed to beat last month for now, but whatever. Sooner or later.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PS3) : Great game, Sly 1-3 were huge parts of my childhood, so this was a fun one. (Literally beat it like 20 minutes ago, still counts though)

Assassin's Creed 3 (360): This game is so fucking terrible so far,(which is majorly disappointing as I'm a huge AC2 fan) but I'm already pretty well into it (Sequence 8 I believe?) so I might as well finish it, despite being shelved for a week or so by now.

Grand Theft Auto V (PS3): Oh man I'm excited for this one. I was a huge fan of IV despite all of the people on this forum and places elsewhere on the Internet who weren't as into the game as I was. As you all know though, this game looks to be a huge upgrade to all the GTA's before it. Pretty sure I'll be able to plow through this one by the end of the month.

Bonus:
Bayonetta (360): About 2 & 1/2 hours into it, I really enjoy it so far.
Ico (PS3): I've never played this before despite wanting to for quite some time, I'll be happy to scoop this off of PS+. (I'm a new member.)
Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (Wii U): Almost done with the Singleplayer stuff, I'm sure I'll get into it within the month.

Edit: I'm swapping out Assassin's Creed 3 for Bayonetta. I can't finish this game. It's fucking rage-inducing for me because of how terrible it is. I seriously can't have fun playing this game. So I stopped. Sorry, Backlog.
Hopefully I'll have Bayonetta completed before GTA. :)

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll try a bit of normal classic and see how it goes. I love the feel of classic, of needing to be careful, but I can't stand losing someone right at the very end and having to restart again for the 4th time.... :<

LA Noire (had played about 10 hours of it before today, though)
Driver: San Francisco
The Walking Dead (played Episodes 1 and 2 several months ago, stopped for some reason, want to finish before I inevitably spoil myself on it somehow)

Shouldn't be too hard now, should it...

I also want to finish both of the Dishonored DLC's some time soon, too.

Guess I'll repost here as I made a change in my plan for the month

Spyro the Dragon
New Super Luigi U
Pikmin 3

Bonus:
ICO
Shadow of the Colossus
Vanquish
KH1.5
And whatever I may impulse rent from Gamefly; hoping to get Puppeteer and W101 from them this month but I'm not expecting it

I originally had DMC4 on my list but I've been playing through some of it today and I just can't. I marathoned DMC1 and 3 last month and had a blast with them, amazing games, but I need to take a break. I'm burnt out. I should hopefully get around to it maybe next month. Game is excellent so far, at least, just not in the mood for it right now.

Don't burn yourself out! Take breaks.

I always split in different games even if I want to play a game in the same genre back to back. Makes things more refreshing.

Totally failed August, I don't even think I beat a single game on my list. Just got disinterested and decided to play other games.

Three's easy though. So I'll be playing:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3)
Killer Is Dead (PS3)
Saints Row: The Third (PS3)

Yeah, I usually space out sequels and similar genres unless it's an HD collection and I'm hungering for more, and the next game is right there... it usually doesn't end in a completed game :p

Well, the cool thing about DMC4 is that the second half of the game is just backtracking so if you're fatigued now you'll be even more fatigued when you go through the same levels a second time :)

edit: Also you fight most of the bosses in that game 2 to 3 times :)

Also, dice game :)

I laughed

I'm actually about to play DMC3 for the first time. Apparently the PC port is bad, but most of the majority of issues have been fixed through fan patches.

Just beat To the Moon.

Not sure what to start next. Thinking maybe Dishonored. Or perhaps Black Mesa, I dunno.

Ducktales Remastered(PC) - It has very dull platforming segments, the cutscenes are totally redundant and the hit detection is off at times. But, I will beat it as I have already beaten 2 stages and maybe it'll improve as I go(?).
Yakuza 3(PS3) - I have never played a Yakuza game before and this game simply absorbs me. There's something very unique about the characters, and the fighting is pretty solid.
I know Yakuza 1&2 HD sold poorly but I can still wish for a PSN port!
Deadpool(360) - I'm about halfway through and am having a pretty good time. It is definitely the funniest game I've ever played, the parodies are awesome and the gameplay itself is serviceable at worst. Deadpool fans shouldn't hesitate with this one.

Alright, got the threads merged. Kind of sucks since I enjoy making this thread every month and discussing it with people.

Weird move that it was done by a guy who posts constantly in the PC thread and knows who I am.

Just beat To the Moon.

How did you like To The Moon? I only hear good things.

Some old screencaps from back when I first played through BMS:

And here is a Black Mesa Source graph I made a long time ago (it actually applies to all Half-Life games, mods or otherwise):

Yeah I heard bad things about the backtracking and repeated boss fights. A shame, really - I didn't know it was so bad that the games entire second half is backtracking... ugh. But the gameplay is amazing at least! Having even more fun with it than I did in DMC3.

And I have a feeling I don't want to know what the dice game is... makes me think of the most irritating Virtue's Last Reward puzzle, lol

I failed last month, yet succeeded in the best way possible at the same time. I'm certainly far, far more interested in going through JRPGs now.

I beat:
-Persona 4 Golden - Best JRPG I've ever played, on the shortlist for my favorite games ever, period
-Persona 4 Arena - Because I could not get enough Persona 4 after beating Golden

This month I plan to beat:
-Pokemon Soul Silver - It's a palate cleanser so that I can play other JRPGs again and not hold them to the same standard as the above
-Picross e2 - Because I love Picross
-Shin Megami Tensei IV - Because I need the closest thing I can get to my fix that isn't more Persona

Bioshock: Infinite:
Been plugging away at this one over the past month, I really just need to pick a few nights and finish it. Been enjoying it so far, especially the world design and set pieces. Some of the locations so far have been phenomenal.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Another one I've been playing over several months, an awesome game that I'll get sucked into hours at a time, trying to solve every little quest the most efficient way possible.

Journey
Journey is a game I know I can count on for a spiritual renewal.
Yes it's short, and it's also one that I've already beaten a few times before, but with uni picking up I think it'd be good to set up a night and go through this experience once again.

I've just dusted off the N64, so:

Zelda Majora's Mask

Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon (Close to finished l think)
Lastly.. Persona 4. Just stopped playing, l'll have to get back into it.

But l've started to beat a few now. Just last month:

Dishonoured
Diablo 3
and a handful of N64 titles..

Pikmin 3 - Acquired the flying Pikmin. I just can't get enough of this game. I figure I'm about 50-60%.

Tales of Xillia - Playing as Jude, sank about 8 hours into the game so far. Enjoying the combat, the characters are likeable with some funny dialogue but the story really needs to start moving because I'm starting to lose interest.

No idea what the third game will be at this point. In the past week alone I've purchased Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, NSLU, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Saints Row 4, Metro: Last Light, and a Vita with about 20 games waiting for me from PS+. Then there's Wonderful 101, my most anticipated game of the year.

It's not going to happen since I'll be on the road for a week, plus vacationing with the fiance. However, maybe miracles can happen. The following are all PC:

  • The Witcher 2
  • Metro 2033
  • Metro: Last Light

FTL, Tell Tale's The Walking Dead (Vita), Deadlight, Portal 2, Mark of the Ninja, and XCOM: EU could switch out any of those. Maybe some other Vita games may be my way to cheat the challenge.

However, expect this to be the October list.

Started each of these over a year ago.
  • Bayonetta
  • Crackdown 2
  • Darksiders II

More than half way through Crackdown 2 and Darksiders II, so those should be doable this month. I have a feeling Bayonetta is short, so I just gotta pick it up again after the hour or so I put on it.

Rayman Origins (360)
GTA III (PC)
GTA Vice City (PC)

Bonus:
GTA V (360)
XCom (PC)

I think I can beat the 3 plus GTA V, not really sure about the XCom

SMT IV
Disgaea 4
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3
Penny Arcade's:OtRSPoD 4
Shining Force: Sword of Hajya
Super Sanctum TD
Inquisitor

Time to focus on SMT IV and try to finish it before EO 1 remake arrives.

My 3:

Shin Megami Tensei 4
Darksiders 2
Torchlight 2

Bonus:

Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons
Etrian Odyssey 4
The Denpa Men 2

I DID IT!

Gone Home - Eh, I found this to be a nice exercise in atmosphere and telling a story, but overall was somewhat disappointed by the experience. Still, I'm glad this exists, and I'm very thankful that there are people out there trying to do new and interesting things with the medium. 6.5/10
The Last of Us - Despite the occasional janky segment, this is a superb action game and one of the finest experiences of the generation. I greatly appreciated the somewhat unconventional story and loads of subtext that was heavily featured throughout the game. 9.5/10
Grand Theft Auto V - Definitely the best open-world sandbox game out there, the only flaws I found with GTAV were it's
lacking final act
and the occasional gameplay hitch when some systems didn't exactly work right (I'm looking at you, helicopter hook thingy!). Very highly recommended. 9.5/10
