DOFP has a affectingly terrible beginning but I enjoyed the rest of it quite a bit. Give it another shot when you're awake maybe...because I basically agree with everything else in your post, especially the J. Cole stuff.

Nah. I enjoyed DoFP the first time through but a rewatch exposed it as a really subpar film overall. First Class is the only X-film that still hangs together, and even that has to deal with January Jones dragging it down.

Well... Yeah. I can't really think of a counterpoint, tbh. I enjoyed DoFP at the time but I feel like it's aged 15 years in just 3.
Really, the only X film I like throughout is Deadpool. It's a better X-Men movie than the actual X-Men movies. Logan gonna finally give Jackman his due
I do like the first one as well but that's really because it was one of the first modern day comic book movies to nail it
Livelier by Day was going to be incredible, though.
But yes, you're right. Live by Night probably hurt both sides. Affleck had been part of the movie since October 2012, so to invest four years into it in one form or another and to have it tank was a rough one for Affleck and Warner Bros.

The real problem of WB is exactly that: they allow directors to dictate what the movie should look like and what rhe story of the movie should be. They have no vision of how these things all fit together, so they throw that shit at hollywood directors who themselves dont know how this shit fits together because they couldn't give a fuck about any of this and are hoping their movie gives them a bigger career. See Ayer. Dude clearly doesnt give a shit about or understand the DC verse. He watched one SS movie, then decided to file a complete script with WB within a few weeks.
All of these dumbass directors thinking they are the next Nolan. Honestly, Nolan didnt give a shit either, but at least he had the talent to make movies that were all at least 50% good.
If WB wants Marvel money they need to do it like Marvel.
Have their own vision and work themselves up to it. Release 2 DC movies per year. Start with a real Superman movie, then follow up with a real Batman movie. Then the next year have a JL movie. Then have a Flash movie in the same year. But in all of these make sure there is a plan to connect these characters with us and the DC verse. Stay on schedule. Hire directors who are nerds and familiar with the material but have no big budget experience. Dont hire them just because they have oscar buzz, if anything avoid in these cases. Also, get rid of this shitty Unreal Engine design, that shit doesnt sell.
Release CG animated 3 DC movies to expand the universe every single year.

I watched this live and even though I've had the feeling Affleck would want out after the solo Batman or after Justice League part 2 if that ever happens, it was bad on Campea's part to say this knowing it would spread like crazy. Especially since he is the one always talking about how bad film journalism is now.
This happens everywhere now.
Right now I'm cooking up an extensive document that describes how the Switch will be able to gain more processing power with newer docks, and am making up a bunch of fake games that will take advantage of it. I'm currently about 8,000 words in, and if anyone else wants to collaborate on this by drawing some diagrams and stuff, PM me. I plan on posting it to GAF maybe about a week before the Switch launches, but I'll be pitching it to some of the big blogs before that like Polygon and Kotaku.
