Today in DCEU: Affleck reportedly wants out as Batman

Jesus so this entire film is just falling apart from the sounds of it.

This also doesn't inspire much confidence in Justice League at all. Had they filmed it and he thought it would be great and a hit why would he still want out. This could be a bit of a warning sign that Justice League may be another mess

Kill of Batfleck in Justice League
Have Jared Leto's joker have a face turn, and make him the successor to Batfleck in the next batman film.

What could go wrong

Nah. Next Batman movie, Bruce is dead, Dick comes in and takes the mantle. The other ex-Bat family members reunite, each with their own unique memories of what Bruce was like, but it reinforces each of their own reasons for being vigilante heroes in the first place. In the end, they all come out of retirement and become the well-oiled team Bruce tried but failed to unify.

Call me, WB.

Whatever, Affleck's Batman/Wayne was a dud. The cool things about his portrayal were the fight scenes and the suit, and that's something you can get with literally anyone else.

His Batman only shone so bright because he was acting next to the black hole of charisma that is Henry Cavill and that abomination they decided to name after Lex Luthor. In reality, Ben Affleck's performance sits firmly in the realm of "not bad", which is sadly more than can be said for literally anything else surrounding it.

Now then, what can they do to fix this?

First, scrap everything other than this coming Justice League movie and re-shoot the ending to hint at one of those reboot Crisis events DC does every once in a while in comics when one too many writers fuck up.

Then, focus your newly expanded budget on making a badass movie that effectively removes this heaping garbage fire of a cinematic universe from existence. Bring in everyone and kill off the characters people hate most, which in this case just happens to be everyone they chose to point a camera at. Just kill all those bums. Gone.

Finally, get rid of everyone involved in this goddamned disaster and bring in a completely different team of people helmed by comic writers who actually know their shit.

DC will never catch up with Marvel at this point, but they don't have to be so shitty by comparison.

You saying X2, First Class, and DoFP are trash while MoS is good?

You on the wrong side of history man.

But MoS has the most affective scene of all time. Rivaling all others...

Warning signs were popping off from the beginning.

Would be surprised if this is anything above mediocre.

Man thank the LORD that people like you ain't involved with these films holy shit

I guess this is how he feels about it now.

Subsequently, Arnett should take over the role. He's already the superior Batman.

The real problem of WB is exactly that: they allow directors to dictate what the movie should look like and what rhe story of the movie should be. They have no vision of how these things all fit together, so they throw that shit at hollywood directors who themselves dont know how this shit fits together because they couldn't give a fuck about any of this and are hoping their movie gives them a bigger career. See Ayer. Dude clearly doesnt give a shit about or understand the DC verse. He watched one SS movie, then decided to file a complete script with WB within a few weeks.

All of these dumbass directors thinking they are the next Nolan. Honestly, Nolan didnt give a shit either, but at least he had the talent to make movies that were all at least 50% good.

If WB wants Marvel money they need to do it like Marvel.
Have their own vision and work themselves up to it. Release 2 DC movies per year. Start with a real Superman movie, then follow up with a real Batman movie. Then the next year have a JL movie. Then have a Flash movie in the same year. But in all of these make sure there is a plan to connect these characters with us and the DC verse. Stay on schedule. Hire directors who are nerds and familiar with the material but have no big budget experience. Dont hire them just because they have oscar buzz, if anything avoid in these cases. Also, get rid of this shitty Unreal Engine design, that shit doesnt sell.
Release CG animated 3 DC movies to expand the universe every single year.

It also doesn't help when they claim and say it's director driven they mess with the movie too much causing the editing problems we see as well padding for future sequels. So i don't fully blame the directors for the bad movies we got. The movies seems reactionary which caused the problems we've seen in Suicide squad because it doesn't seem WB can commit to what kind of movie they wanted it to be. Dc isn't immune executive meddling Marvel is too but it seems with marvel at worst you get competent movies while dc movies are a mess.

This is on point.

I mean if Andrew Garfield got the boot after just 2 films and the franchise was rebooted without a second thought I'd Imagine WB wouldn't have a problem.

But like I some people have said in this thread. Afleck is a good Wayne/Batman, but so was Garfield as Peter/Spidey.

I was being a bit facetious, to be fair. Please don't read that as a real honest-to-god suggestion on how to fix this mess as much as it is someone who knows nothing about how these things are made talking out of his ass.

Still...

Lol I can't tell these days

Folks be really wanting to see this movie universe started over in the dumbest of fucking ways

If this were true, it would be a major red flag for Justice League.

That said, Campea is not a very reliable source so this is likely not true.

Whether this specific report is true or not, does anyone doubt that it's true?

There's no way of the actors are truly happy being part of this mess.

Don't blame him at all. WB really squandered things, and it's a shame they wasted all this talent and time on movies that should've been way, way better.

I'd like for him stay, hopefully get Batman turned around, but if this is true, then it's probably best to get away from this shit show.

Even if this is true, this speaks more about Ben state of mind at the moment and it can't be healthy.
2016 seems to be the worst year in a long while for him.

Sony had Marvel's help with rebooting Spider-Man, again. Marvel was ready to help them do it. WB is on their own.

I was never impressed with Garfield as Spider-Man.
