So maybe this is why Gal Gun was having those mysterious issues a while back?

Australia started falling down the same mountain.
Now they've banned small boobs.
Seriously.
It'll be replaced with more zany variety shows so people won't have to think about such unhealthy topics anymore.John said:damnit, of course japan would outlaw law and order svu![]()

V_Arnold said:So basically you just generalized porn, and likened normal, adult porn to one where a 17-50 year old male fucks a 3-14 year old girl, or where that girl is even a relative to the boy, according to the story. Is that right?
OuterWorldVoice said:But we can all agree that the portrayal of rape, child pornography and incest for entertainment and sexual titillation are BAD right?
Busaiku said:I don't really see how it affects much of anything, seeing as though material with that kind of content wasn't sold to minors in the first place.
Extollere said:But there is no need for censorship - especially what we are talking about here, the censorship of non-explicit sexuality, and of depictions of illegal activity in unrated entertainment. It's just fucked up.
Lyte Edge said:Let's not forget that this is the same country that censors their porn.

(also, Slippery Slope is a logical fallacy, not a phenomenon)
MrDoctor said:So King of Fighters XIII will never be ported to consoles.
Dreamgazer said:4) Major publishers are protesting this since the law means that alot of the stuff that they get away with are now going to be considered pornographic material. One of the worse offenders of this is Akita Shoten, which publishes stuff like Aki Sora and my favorite - Cuvie's Nightmare Maker.:lol
(And in all honesty they really shouldn't be getting away this. Some of their stuff is more hardcore than your typical h-manga.)
Why would Clannad be affected? It has no sex whatsoever.2San said:This does mean Clannad, Tsukihime, etc. are banned as well. Even though it's not a genre I'm interested in myself. I feel bad for my comrades. :,(

Anyway, you know what happens when something gets banned ? It gets better!
Dreamgazer said:The emphasis now is "illegal sexual activity" and "sexual activities that could not lead to marriage" (incest, homosexual)
child porn shouldn't be illegal because we don't like what it depicts. it should be illegal because it's creation involves actual child mollestation, and trying to buy it/consume it creates a demand for the material that can't be made without child mollestation.hosannainexcelsis said:Why would Clannad be affected? As far as my feelings about this law, I'll need to have a better understanding of what exactly it entails before I make up my mind. I detest child porn in any form (though photographic porn should be the first area of concern before imaginary porn), but it sounds vague enough to be used as a limit on proper artistic expression in the wrong hands.
Mandoric said:This is really the key issue; sufficiently suggestive gay/lesbian material is defined as obscene even when the content would be R15 or all-ages with hetero pairings.

drawing anything shouldn't be illegal in any way shape or form.
This is not a ban on illegal behavior. This is a ban on depictions of immoral behavior.ULTROS! said:Catherine doesn't have minors AFAIK. They're all adults.
And I don't see minors being used wrongly in Atlus games.
Extollere said:Exactly. Furthermore it is troublesome to have a society limited artistic expression because they view homosexuality as unhealthy, and depictions of it to be dangerous to the youth. It's pathetic.

Lyte Edge said:Eh, that's a 360 game. Nobody was going to buy it anyway.

this may only be classification, but it's the same sort of classification that leads to slanted rating systems which limit artistic freedom directly and indirectly.
so good old fashioned straight sex is fine, but oh dear we don't want to promote any gayness now do we that wouldn't do! we don't want our kids catching the gay. lets have them masterbating over 'normal' sexual acts that lead to marriage (whatever the hell that means).
This is Cero Z all over again.Hellsing321 said:loli/incest/rape/whateversickshityoucanthinkof hentai is not banned from this. In fact, its not even affect by this since it was already 18+ to begin with. This affects everything that wasn't classified as porn. Nothing is actually banned by this. The sale of anime/manga/games to minors that is deemed to be immoral is now illegal.
They basically get classified as porn and must be sold in the adults only section of stores(If they have them). In effect it is a ban since publishers won't want to publish works that they can't sell to a wider audience and only certain stores actually carry adults only material. Its like a game being rated AO here. Wal-mart won't carry it so its basically dead in the water.
We don't know what will actually fall under this law, but the law is so vague pretty much anything could fall under it.

i'm against any restrictions on speech, but espescially when they're based purely on moral outrage.Father_Brain said:I agree completely. I'm against just about any law that has a potential chilling effect on freedom of speech or artistic expression, no matter how personally repulsive I might find said content. Even the most repugnant ideas shouldn't be legally restricted, as long as they're just ideas.
The implications for gay content are perhaps the most disturbing aspect of this bill, though.

Dreamgazer said:Personally I feel this thread should be moved to OT and have the "affects gaming" as well part removed from the title. So far the law has no effect on gaming at all.
With the passage of Bill 156, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will have the additional power to restrict any manga, anime and video games (but not live photography works) that feature any sexual acts that would violate criminal codes or Tokyo ordinances OR sexual depictions between close relatives who could not legally get married to be treated as adult material IF they are presented in unjustifiably glorified or exaggerated manner.
