Relive Lara Croft's journey into tomb raiding with all three of her latest Tomb Raider games, including Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Absolute bellends baiting us like this.
Imagine if they did remakes of the OG trilogy, people would load their money into cannons and shoot it in the general direction of the publisher.
They already remade the first game once.
No they didn't remade it. They re-imagined it. Big difference. They already remade the first game once.

Why did you post the cover lol? I know you were talking about Anniversary. And no like i said they re-imagined it. Even Crystal themselves had said so.Um, no. Crystal Dynamics remade it.
The easiest way to play on a modern system is probably just to use a PS1 emulator (or DC for 4 )Yes I know, remake was the wrong word, I want Spyro/Crash style remakes of them.
I never actually played the OG TR1, I started with TR2 back in the day and then went from there, played Anniversary at the time. I was going to do a full run of TR1-4 soon. Will need to investigate the best way to play on modern machines though. I got OpenLara but it only supports TR1 afaics.
Call me paranoid, but can I just say I'm terrified of what they're cooking up for Lara's new look in her next main game.
How no one thought “this might not play well.” Is beyond me. It’s so tone deaf it seems like a deliberate pointed diss.Want: original ps1 games in HD released as a collection for current consoles
Got: Tomb Raider Cookbook

What more can they do to her that would get you concerned? Give her a haircut? At this point there is nothing left from original Lara besides the ponytail.Call me paranoid, but can I just say I'm terrified of what they're cooking up for Lara's new look in her next main game.
Tomb Raider was originally just Mario 64 for Coomers whereas this trilogy was actually good from a gameplay perspective

Because of a company called Square Enix, you may have heard of them, if not, then let me put it this way, they're shit, and they want moneyI don't understand why they had to announce a trilogy re-release of... 3 games that already came out this gen & are also so cheap you could find them easily on any console's storefront & buy them all for the price of a season pass in any other game.

Then they must have a pretty limited imagination, they seemed to have "re-imagined" it as the exact same game, only now it looks better. It's pretty much 1:1.Why did you post the cover lol? If you say that you either never played the original or you have some pretty bad memory. Then they must have a pretty limited imagination, they seemed to have "re-imagined" it as the exact same game, only now it looks better. It's pretty much 1:1.
Resident Evil Remake changed more than anniversary. They're so close that you can do play by play comparisons between them. Anniversary makes some QOL and changes the environments a little to better take advantage of the mechanics from Legend, but it's not even remotely enough to constitute being called a reimagining. The games industry in general tends to grossly misuse the terms "remaster", "remake" and "reimagine" and seems to use them interchangeably. They have pretty strict definitions and unless you're going to try to convince me that Anniversary is Tomb Raider reimagined as a futuristic derelict space station adventuring game it just doesn't reach that bar.If you say that you either never played the original or you have some pretty bad memory.
Remaster=A direct port of an older game just with better resolution and framerate (and the inclusion of trophies/achievements).Examples:Shadow of the Colossus/Ico remasters etcResident Evil Remake changed more than anniversary. A remake does not have to be precisely 1:1, some liberties can be taken, as long as the source material is adhered to relatively closely. Changing a few bits here or there does not in any way constitute "reimagining" something. A reimagining is something more in the vein of this, Romeo and Juliet reimagined as a modern day romantic crime drama set in what's clearly supposed to be discount LA.Remaster=A direct port of an older game just with better resolution and framerate (and the inclusion of trophies/achievements).Examples:Shadow of the Colossus/Ico remasters etc
Remake= A 1:1 remake of the original but with completely new graphics that plays exactly as the original.Examples:Shadow of the Colossus remake,Spyro the Dragon trilogy, etc
Re-imagining= A remake of the original with completely new graphics but the developers also take liberties to change the story as much as they want as well as the gameplay and levels. Examples: Tomb Raider Anniversary, Resident Evil Remake ,Final Fantasy VII Remake
In the later category both RE as well as FFVII call themselves "Remakes" but anyone who has played both the originals as well as the "remakes" know that they are actually re-imaginings since they have changed the story, gameplay. Resident Evil Remake feels much more true to the original than the othe other two examples but still has significant changes to be allowed to be called Remake.
Tomb Raider Anniversary completely changed the story, controls and combat from the original as well as completely changing the level designs or completely removed some of the levels. Not to mention the addition of white ledges,QTEs and other things.
I can get even more specific if you want to show you how anniversary is more of a re-imagining (and a really bad one at that IMO) than a faithful remake.
Even Crystal Dynamics called it re-imagining in their commentary mode in the collector's edition of Anniversary.
Such a tone deaf company. They should sell the Tomb Raider property to a company that doesn’t despise its customers. The video was like "LARA IS SO POPULAR BECAUSE OF HER GAMES SO HERE'S A FEW TOMB RAIDER BRANDED NAPKINS AND COOKBOOKS". Just what the fans wanted.

This one here takes ALL the cakes, though.Tomb Raider was originally just Mario 64 for Coomers whereas this trilogy was actually good from a gameplay perspective
Yup this Anniversary is soo poorly planned so far,its embarassing.Want: original ps1 games in HD released as a collection for current consoles
Got: Tomb Raider Cookbook
You blew me away with blunt force stupidity.Tomb Raider was originally just Mario 64 for Coomers whereas this trilogy was actually good from a gameplay perspective

Anyone able to buy it on Ps5? It says it only works on PS4 when I try to buy it
