Unlike the Mayor, I know I wouldn't be a good Mayor.
I couldn't help but laugh when I heard about this today since it's the 2 year anniversary of when Ford was elected Mayor. Just 732 days until the next election.

Went to High Park today, good to know the leaves haven't completely all fallen yet (the trees on our street is probably the only in the neighbourhoods nearby with leaves still on em).

If you want Rob Ford out, pick one of the councillors most likely to run against him (Vaughan, Stintz, etc) and start volunteering.

If it comes down to voting between Ford and Stintz, I'm going to cry. Too bad most of the people fit to run don't want any part of the office.

tbh, I don't think she'd make much of a mayor, either. Problem is, I'm in a fog of Fords so it's hard to tell who WOULD make a good candidate.
Saw Video Games Live tonight. They played a lot of new stuff, I was pleasantly surprised. Always a good time. I might have to go next year lol. I've now been to it in 2006, 2011 and now 2012. If they keep adding new songs I'll keep going.
Also they should ban little kids from participating in the costume contest. This is the second year in a row where a little kid with a shitty costume won just because they're 6 years old. A lot of other people put a lot of work into their outfits, but instead the cute kid wins just because he's a kid.

As if the Frank Gehry / Mirvish skyscraper proposal from 2 weeks ago wasn't enough...

Why does it take a casino for us to get our first thousand footer? Of course if they were to go like any other project, they'd chop about 20% of the proposed height off.
I can say I'm in the home building industry and my bosses are feeling highly skeptical about the Mirvish skyscraper idea. More for how it will be funded more than the amount of time it will take to build.

The thing is that office demand is extremely high right now in Toronto so anyone could just go build a 1000 footer no problem even without the casino.
I kind of hope it goes ahead because the architect chosen to design the tall buildings is Norman Foster. He is one of my favourite architects and has designed tons of amazing buildings, including this one in London:

Yeah, but city planners / council always seem to shy away from them in the end. Plenty of supertalls have been proposed, but they either get scaled back massively, or axed altogether. It might take something like a casino to push it through.
Anyone know where I can purchase a horse head mask in Toronto that's maybe around $20? If not, then I'll just buy the pricer one.

It was definitely a one off for me too (went in 2008, I believe), although my wife and I enjoyed it. Quality was not nearly up to par with some like Zelda Symphony even, and I actually found the host to be a bit annoying. Music selection was hit, or miss. Did they end with One Winged Angel again? Argrhr.

I only went once, in LA. I interviewed him a few days before that. (Well, I held the camera while someone else interviewed him.) So I was like "Psst. I met that guy," to anyone that would listen. And nobody cared because it was E3 and they'd all met him and more interesting people too.
When I went, they ended with a Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross medley. They did do One Winged Angel, though, and showed pictures of Final Fantasy VII cosplayers on the screen the whole time and it was HILARIOUS.

In Toronto, they had a local band come on and play. They were called the Runaway 5, but the host was clueless about the reference and why there was only four of them. 'They're from some game.. called.. what was it.. huh.. Earthbound? Uh, okay!'. Dude couldn't wait to the Halo theme though. He was going to pee his pants he was so excited when he started introducing it.
It was fun and all, but the rabid fan base was a bit annoying, also Tommy Talarico wouldn't shut the fuck up. He wanted to keep going on and on and on, just shut up and play some music. I thought the girl with the flute/vocals was great.

VGL is def a one-off, like most of those game concerts. They're highly priced, don't evolve much from the format unless you travel to a different city, and yeah.. the audience. Some people like the "make noise anytime" experience but more often than not you can't hear or appreciate all the performers you paid for.
As much as I want Wong-Tam to run for mayor she's not crass enough to quickly gain the popularity with dumdum voters (the kind who need punch lines or to hear "SUBWAYS"), something that she'd really need to win.

Last show I went to ended with Still Alive.
They definately need to mix things up a bit more though. That stupid Halo bit where some douche comes out in full spartan gear with a Flag is beyond dumb.
They could do without the One Winged Angel nerdgasm thing too.
I wouldn't call them high priced. They are about what you should expect to pay for a concert with a full Orchestra and Choir in the types of venues they play.

Glad they got rid of One Winged Angel and Halo in this tour. Too bad I can't go to the show on Sunday. I've gotta go home and see how badly WWE will fuck up the Ryback-CM Punk main event. There is no way that will end good and I have to watch the trainwreck.

I'm going tonight and I'm super excited. I've been meaning to go since the summer. Did you get the spicy garlic ramen? I looked at pictures and they put a copious amount of garlic on top of the noodles. It's also run by the Guu owners? The cocktails on the menu look the same.

I got the extra pork ramen. I didn't taste any garlic in the noodles. Not sure if run by Guu owners but wouldn't be surprised.
Finish it all along with the soup and they take your pic. I am proudly on there.

Smashing Pumpkins concert at the ACC Thursday was really darn good!
I was there too. I wasn't much of a fan prior to the concert, but the guitars alone were amazing.
