The Autobots are so underdeveloped that no one but Prime and Bumblebee have any personality. No way they could fix that in one movie, even if it is almost 3 hours.

It's still going to be a ton of humans talking all the time.

So why are people expecting this to be better than the last movie?

No Megan Fox and cringe worthy deliveries (Rosie is at least a cut above in the delivery department). Not written in two weeks with the rest filled in with Bay humor. No more Kurtzman and Orci. Steady shots thanks to 3D. Positive reception from every outlet being screened footage of the film.

Despite all the insane invasion shit in the ads, part of me is strangely curious how the film will address Megan Fox's absence, if it does at all.

It won't really. She has been written out as Sam, and Mikaela having a falling out over the years between the events of the Revenge of the Fallen, and Dark of the Moon.

It's always like that for some reason. I remember that both the first, and Revenge of the Fallen opened in August in Japan when the rest of the world received it in July. Paramount Japan must suck or something.

The 2nd to last trailer I saw (the moon beginning was shorter) almost hyped me enough. I never saw ROTF but I hated the human sections in the first and only the ending had enough action. If anyone promises me this will have a lot more action than the first, then I'm sold.

3D, positive word of mouth, and a while before another similarly themed action blockbuster means it'll cross $1 billion rather easily.

For all the hate ROTF received, it still grossed $836 million.

At the very least it should be weirdly exciting to see Chicago get torn up and to see the scenes I got to be briefly on-set for come to life. Beyond that I didn't have any confidence in it, until a friend who doesn't exist and definitely didn't see it early told me that it was the best in the series.

Yeah and those positive impressions had me bracing for failure a little less, but having someone whose tastes pretty much match yours hypothetically tell you he liked it is a lot more confidence-boosting.

I added ILM. I figure the effects play just as an important role (if not more) than many of the actors.
