UK plans age verification for porn websites from 2018

Hang on, I haven't had to enter any CC info on (most) gambling sites. A few will ask for a driver's license/passport scan, but Betfair and Bet365 have never asked me for shit, probably because I keep losing money with them.

So how would this work anyway? I assume they won't block access to the sites like torrent sites, because you have to enter your CC info somewhere, right? That sounds like a good idea, giving porn sites your CC info, what could go wrong?

This from a woman who cracks them out in PMQ.

Someone combine the Jungle Book gif with this before I do!

I don't get the outcry. I heard phishing rights are a key issue for the Brits in their ongoing struggle with the EU. This law is clearly intended to give a major boost to the UK phishing industry. Think of all the jerbs that will be created from the increased cash flow!

That totally won't cause people to bypass them with a VPN or go onto skeevier sites to avoid controls. Nope, not at all.

This isn't about age verification or protecting anybody. This is about creating dossiers on people to use against them.

Lol you would think the UK gov have more important shit in their hands than stopping teenagers from jerking off.

I'm still semi convinced that Theresa May has such an obsession with shutting down porn on the internet because Teresa May is a UK porn star who would have got way more results when theresa with an h was first googling herself

lmao, I didn't even know that.

Now I certainly encourage the misspelling/typo on all official documents and international summits. It would probably be the equivalent of what people have already been doing to get under Trump's thin orange skin.

Aiii

So not worth it
My friends and I were able to get our hands on quite a sizable collection porn before the internet even existed (for the general public) at 12, so best of luck with this, UK.

They blocked torrents so now you have to type "torrent proxy" into Google instead, it's such an inconvenience! There will be 100 Pornhub proxies up within the hour of this going live, it'll change nothing. Scary as fuck for the future, though.

More like half the Tories including her must be incredibly repressed. You usually see an obsession with censorship and moral busy-bodying around sex when the person(s) trying to judge or restrict others are unhappy and restricted themselves. See the whole history surrounding any who are fundamentalist around religious restrictions with sex/sexuality.

Someone needs to send Theresa a sex therapist around to her home with a box of toys so she can have some wild times, like the time she ran through a field of wheat*.

Sometimes they say the reserved/elite class secretly get up to some of the most depraved and far out things possible behind closed doors. Other times they do just live up to their stereotype of what British sex is

May is probably the type who would struggle to say penis and vagina in public, and have her head explode if she were to accept sometimes people do butt stuff.

*I expect this sentence will give many nightmares, but it is necessary for both satirical and potentially honest reasons.

I bet she has an old smut tape of her from the 70's floating around somewhere and she's trying everything she can to make sure people won't see it accidentally.

The reason is there's a porn star called Teresa May who was in the video for Smack My Bitch Up.

She fucking hates that her name is one misspell away.

Understandable. I'd be pretty upset too if my name was only one letter away from someone doing such a disgusting, demeaning job as leading the Tory party.

Shut it all down. Make kids find their porn in local woods like I had to. Who left it there! Mystery.

The good old days of finding a Mayfair stash, centerfield of course, with all of those 09096 numbers (calls terminate in Guam) as well.

Additional mystery bonus question: where was the rest of the mag?

We all know that.
It wasn't a labour MP found dead wanking themselves to death with a belt round their neck and an orange in their mouth, it wasn't a labour secretary of state fucking a 19 year old prostitute who was also fucking a russian naval minister and it wasn't labour MPs caught in suburban sex parties.

Tories have been projecting their 'family standards' while getting pegged by dommes and picking up rent boys forever

This is kind of similar to what happens when you use any adult sort of website on a mobile network's 3G/4G connection. It asks your to prove to the carrier that you are over 18. The issue comes when many of us don't have CC's and are just Debit card users -- because that doesn't work, it has to be a debit card... or you have to go in store to prove it -- go in store to unblock porn? No thanks. Saying that, I have had the block happen on gaming/news websites too due to adult content being displayed elsewhere on the website.

I'm assuming a similar system will be in place for when they role this out on all ISP's next year. I just wonder how you can prove age if you don't have a CC... VPN it is!

Your mention of telephone numbers reminded me of something specific. Something I am still far too scared to [image] tag on GAF (it probably would lead to a reasonable ban for inflicting it on the eyes of everyone).

https://twitter.com/Yuckband (Go to media and scroll down to @Yuckband Jun 4 Whoever did this, I salute you) I'd link to the tweet directly but I'm still scared of the banhammer. There isn't any real nudity and it's not porn, but it's still NSFL ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Hilarious satire, but NSFL.

I'm surprised with over 17k retweets May and the others (especially Donald) depicted didn't try to get Twitter to remove it lol.

Well, that's certainly something.

LOL

So, minors can have sex but not watch videos of it? Sexual repression is going to be off the charts with this bullshit. Everyone watches porn by age 16.
And yeah, let's protect the minds of our kids by exposing their privacy and credit card information.

Jesus Christ. What is with the Tories and thier obsession with porn? Is anyone, even among their voter base, pushing for any of this nonsense?

So how will this work for sites like twitter and imgur?

I don't think the children stumbling into porn are visiting brazzers.com

Oh and lets not start on children stealing their parents credit card, entering it into some website and having their details stolen.

I'm guessing it's actually 100%.

That seems like a weird way to break things down. Of course 15-16 years olds have watched porn. The 11-14 is actually disturbing. To include 15-16 years old with children though. I mean yes I know they are technically but come on, it's puberty and it happens to us all.

Puberty is often estimated to begin between 10~14 for girls and 12~16 for boys. When any sort of education starts coupled with puberty, even at the younger ages, it may lead to individuals seeking out content. Just pointing that out to express reasoning behind why the stats may be, not making a moral judgement.

The issue with the technicals around this move is will it be some half-assed attempt at censoring where a few major sites get blocked, and random content will inevitably be viewable? Or will the Tories genuinely try and shut down every single depiction of a naked body online until some arbitrary switch at the ISP level is unlocked? Which essentially means every parent paying for the internet is probably going to have to unblock it by default (if the Tories start going after social media/websites because those to can have adult/porn content).

I mean, there's porn all over twitter! You can follow pornstars if you want. How are the Tories going to attempt to deal with that? Even when the UK government tries to shut down torrent/media streaming sites proxies or new URLs pop up. It's such an arbitrary way to try and deal with the internet. Unless May is literally going to try and "install a nanny PC application" on the macro level? If it's just court ordered URL blocking again it will fail stupendously thanks to proxies and URL changes.
