UK water running short - 3 day heat wave

Damn, I was a couple of years off eh? 🤷‍♂️

It was hot in the 80's too (y)
That is June through September every year where I grew up. With 90%+ humidity pretty much every day since it is on the coast. Lived there until 10 years ago and got fed up with the heat and humidity and moved up by the mountains where there's seasons.

90%?

Man that would absolutely destroy me personally. That's the one that gets me the most. I don't blame you in the slightest.

I lived in a sweaty town and the one thing I enjoyed about trips abroad was the breeze, most of European countries don't have the humidity, just the heat during the day

Unlike this sweat box.

No shit, I took the underground to kings cross / st pancras yesterday and the mf was like riding in a big metal armpit.
I don't miss those days. Working in London in the summer I would choose to walk from Charing Cross into work.

Speaking of which classic summer train maybe you get AC on the train but it's winter and maybe the heat is left on and it's summer
That's if the train even has AC

Those "scorching hot red" areas look like 30 and below which is 86F. I'd call that a pleasantly warm day. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Apparently Europe is currently in the depths of hell with that color scheme, but it's all temperatures people pay the outrageously big bucks for to live in California.
You need to keep in mind that the vast majority of houses and apartment buildings in Europe don't have any air conditioning whatsoever. Temps inside can often rise to be almost as hot as the ones outside during prolonged heat waves and when its 85F in your home, it does not feel good at all.

these days I'd say 95% of the trains it is broken and in general they are in such a state that you wonder where the insane taxes we pay here are going.

My favorite was taking the tube home at 11:30 at night and it fucking sweltering still. Only air you get is when a tube train is moving and usually it's manky air.

I haven't taken it in a while but the Elizabeth line felt like the future I swear it had AC. Speaking of things looking like the future the DLR looks rubbish now.

The train prices in the UK are too high it's a piss take.
Ten years ago I paid nearly 3k a year just to use the train to get to work and not the underground or the bus. wtf
Sorry public transport rant. I don't live in London anymore but the memories remain

Good luck to all experiencing this madness. Hopefully it will cool off soon. By that time nothing will change until it gets hot as balls again

It's still like that, but all hours now :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Aye Elizabeth is actually nice and cool, definitely the best line. When my lad was into trains he always wanted to ride the DLR, it was grubby as fook :messenger_tears_of_joy:

We moved down to Bath and sometimes the missus or the lad wants to get the train back. Absolute piss take prices, it's disgusting what they're charging. You'd think you'd bought a ticket on the Orient Express.

Apparently they're nationalising the GWR, I bet it makes zero difference as you'll still need to get into London.

i would split tickets and book off peak.
But even that didn't save loads.

I hope the train situation improves the other thing I used was national express. Cheap as chips. But some journeys take a while. Especially when you enter in London

UK can't stop stealing from India. Now the Brits even annex the temperatures!
If the temperature outside was 50C then I'm sure I'd also shit in the street then buy food from the street vendor next to the open toilet who thinks germ theory is a fake conspiracy planted by the CIA.

The color scheme illustrates the gap with expected temperatures at this time of the year. 30C is nothing to worry about in August, it's a big anomaly in May where it should be around 20C. The map would be the same shade of red if we had 20C in January

Supposed to hit +36C where I'm at today (Canadian prairies). Way fucking hot. At least its not crazy humid.. and i have AC.

I don't remember it ever getting this hot when I was a kid. Even in July and August.

Ah the joys of Canada. Blizzard last month and +35c this month.

My wife always wants to go on a Euro Vacation in the summer... but I look at the heat waves and remember there aint no fucking AC over there.. and I just nope out.
Maybe we should go to Ireland. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Climate change in action.

AC just isn't common in homes. In shops, hotels, bars, restaurants, museums etc, basically every public building has AC.

You'll be fine. The worst problem during the summer is mass tourism.
