Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

Eh, I don't see that happening in any form. Which is probably the right decision: "if you want to play those maps, play UC2," they'll say. Or "maps need to be designed with the new features in mind."

Eight would be devastatingly disappointing. With all their talk about wanting this to be the "go-to PS3 multiplayer game" (and with that totally happening for them, so far in my opinion), there's no way it ships with less than 10. Gears 2 had 10, CoDs have like 15+...

Naughty Dog, you want to be the top-dawg in the game? You can do it. Double-digit amount of maps. Then I'll be playing this more than any game this year. Loving the beta.

Remember all the hate leading up to this? :-P

Ah okay, I wasn't quite sure. I thought it meant a literal map/radar would be on your screen like Call of Duty or Halo's motion tracker, but that makes sense.
 
Wow, co-op hunter really sucks. In fact, all of the co-op modes have been pretty horrible thus far, mostly because people are trying to farm kills. At this point, I almost wish they made co-op progression separate from normal progression so that the people who don't want to co-op for real don't ruin it.

Know what? Yeah, you're kinda right. I mean, the first week co-op stuff was ok, I guess, but enemies spawned where the fuck ever and I honestly preferred UC2's straight-up Survival mode - no need for the cycling game-types.

This Hunter stuff I tried once, and haven't gone back. I mean, I guess it's cool it's in there, but I have no desire to play it. Naughty Dog may have stretched themselves a bit too thin here with all the content they're trying to cram into this game.

Still looking way forward to the adventure co-op missions like there were in UC2 though!

Yeah, at least adventure co-op is straight forward, so if people want to chase the cash, it doesn't ruin the experience for everyone.

At this point, I'm just going to screw around until I get my 5 games (assuming they actually want you to play through every single mode of the game) and not touch the mode ever again.

They should at least make tutorial videos mandatory if they want the co-op modes to be more than just curiosities.

What do you get for playing 5 games? Or 10 games? Did I miss something?
 
Anyone here misses the 1 hit headshot kill from UC2 coop ?

Been playing some UC3 coop lately but I can't seem to get my rhythm of massive headshot kills while using a semi-auto rifle. :(

It's like the enemies on UC3 have helmets on. :/
 
I noticed a bug in the cinema mode when I try to rewind the match it switches to another player (while displaying my username) and won't let me cycle through players anymore

Also how do you jump to specific points in the game timeline?

Co-op Adventure has more "co-op stuff" in it this time around so you won't get very far if one person is fucking around going after kills. The main portion of the Syria co-op adv demo has you going after idols scattered around the map one by one, sorta like Gold Rush. The new co-op element is you need all 3 people to get to most of the idols, 2 to lift a statue and 1 person to get idol out of it. You have to do that ~3-5 times till you get access to the tower of doom and then the demo ends once you climb it. I saw a lot of people at E3 just dicking around during the idol part while I waited in line to play it and none of them were able to finish it because of it. When my group finished it the booth guy actually laughed and told us we were the first group to do so.

Looks like Gears 3 is the place to be then. Oh well, I quite enjoyed the UC2 co-op too.

I'm not digging it either, it just feels like it's being played as another form of team deathmatch, especially if you're on a team of randoms with no coordination. They also need to implement some sort of icon over the AI bots that the villains get, I've wasted so much ammo thinking it was an enemy player only to realize it was just one of my stupid bot buddies loafing around.

Money caps are stupid; if the player is good enough to earn more than 50k in a match, LET THEM -- especially if the Badges of Honor return (which they fucking better).

Get rid of the goddam money cap, goddam! /sully
 
Was the AK-47 stealth buffed recently too? In the last match I played it seemed like AK guys were decimating me at medium to short range. I'm running the G-Mal and used to be able to perform well at any distance. Now it seems like the AK is the most used primary weapon, where as before it was definitely the G-Mal.

I don't know, maybe they were just using the Heavy Bullets booster, but on the receiving end of the AK it definitely seems better. I'd have to use the gun myself to see if I felt the same way.
 
Just had my first go with the beta. I have no idea why I have ignored it all this time. I had no idea what i was doing at first, but then it pretty much sorts itself out. Had so much fun. I'm now a believer in whatever Naughty Dog is trying to sell me here
 
So after playing an extended amount of U3 multiplayer, I have to say... I love it!
Feels really great.

Well, there is this minor issue I'm having with sprinting. It needs to be faster, and the controls need to be tighter. Well, at least the camera should move along with you when you take corners.

Also, the melee needs work.

But that's about it. The rest is great! Love the powerplays, love the weapons and love the controls. One thing I would like to see though, is an option to rotate the camera faster. Shit's too slow sometimes.
 
So I equipped the AK47 to try it out and no fucking wonder people have it equipped all the time now. Running + gunning is so fucking accurate that no one has a chance 95% of the time.

I personally love the hell out of Hunters mode. Of course, I never play with randoms. (People on GAF- why do you do this to yourselves?) Of course, the two changes I would make are:
  1. Make it 4 rounds- Defense, Offense, Offense, Defense
  2. Make it so delivering a treasure actually gives you some freaking cash. Hell, a $500-$1000 medal would be great.
 
Can you actually get medals as the defense when playing Hunters? I just got loads of downs..

Everything has been pretty fun so far, save for Hunters.

100% with you my friend, I played 'Hunters' with Dave and we both were talking about how it feels somewhat 'shallow' and needs more rounds and rewards.

Oh shit... that only means one more patch before the beta/game is forever ruined.

haha you know what, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they tried some higher damage / lower health model before the beta ends and check what feedback they gather.
 
One thing I find really odd about Hunters is that there's not really a penalty for dying as the Heroes, especially if you have Back in the Saddle. It's often easier to just suicide rather than wait to be revived. Although, whenever I've been against noobs who don't really stand a chance I can understand why they don't give the heroes limited lives or something. Also, since the treasures aren't designated with letters or numbers it seems that a lot of players get confused when more than one is picked up.

This game is growing on me. After getting over the changes from UC2, I'm really starting to enjoy it. :)

You all are obviously skill-less pricks. When you are standing two feet to the side of a guy, it is only proper to pull out your weapon and carefully guide the tip of your barrel to his head. If he is also a gentleman, he will stand there and wait for you to complete your maneuver.

I honestly don't understand why people are so determined to have everyone play the exact same way. They'll go out of their way, even as far as changing the rules of the game, just to ensure no one is doing something that they wouldn't do.

was hoping to get drake's aviators but the treasure has requirements, its the only one that does so far, they can only be found in syria when playing adventure.
 
Wat. This game feels so different than 1.01. Lower health, fixed Para and Micro (a good thing), new spawns on Airstrip (intro), practically no time to leave the lobby once a game has ended...

Should be able to get my essay of impressions up this weekend. But, I do have a request

-5 Co-op adventure

since some of the game modes were exclusive to Week 1.
 
Now I remember why I avoid objective matches. Half my team was trying to kill eachother (not the other team) while I was the only one doing anything :| I got to watch my team mates try to melee eachother REPEATEDLY while facing 4-5 villains at a time

Fuck me dead
 
Grenades are too weak, they were perfect in the UC2 beta, snipers suck, most of the perks are useless, there doesn't seem to be a way to get out of a mode once you've picked it (I pressed every button) overall I prefer UC2 before the patch that messed it up, the only reason it was an issue was cause ND had a terrible spawn system and the maps were too small

Nice couple matches were had yesterday with vsrobot and mgviperman. Sadly we had to split because our original party kept growing in size, but very much looking forward to spend some more quality time with you.

Before, it would take 2 and 2/3 rounds from the GMAL (so 8 bullets, all bodyshots) for a kill. Now it takes 6. The turret, AK, and M9 seem to kill faster too. The Para pistol as well, but that's due to a damage increase, while the Micro does less (also to due a damage tweak, but in the opposite direction).
 
I really need to start playing this. I played Uncharted 2 like crazy but for some reason I just haven't felt as compelled to play this as I thought I would.
