Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

Sorry if this has already been answered but do games joined in progress count towards the matches played totals for the rewards? I can't seem to ever start a match from the beginning.
 
The people glitching on Chateau are freaking idiots. Ruining everyone's fun. Half a Plunder match is dealing with those fools instead of capturing the treasure

I'm wondering about this as well.

Getting 10 matches in Plunder feels like such a grind. Every plunder match I've been in has been a tough back and forth battle that lasts almost 20 minutes.

You cannot use any sniper based gun without the zoom on unless you're firing from the hip. They changed this from U2 most likely to circumvent how easy it was to rack in kills while using no scope in thst game.
 
Yemen is so much fucking better than Airstrip.

Ughh. As cool as Yemen is, the camping is rampant. Even in PLUNDER? My, God, if you want to camp for kills, go play a Deathmatch gametype.

Uggghhhhhhh. Not a good day for this game at all. The randoms I've been getting teamed up with are idiots. I don't even ask that you be good, just be in the right spots. People just sitting around during objective games piss me off to no end.

Weird when playing in Yemen in co-op , when i spawn into the area near the cliff, instead of reaching the floor , in float in mid air ( outside the map ) before actually reaching the map to be able to play .

VERY WEIRD BUG. and that's my only problem with yemen so far
 
To somewhat fix the sniping problems in Yemen, they should open up the circular platform by making it semi-destroyed.

Kickoff should always win over the Pulldown -- I say "should" because it always beat it in U2 but I haven't been able to properly test it in U3 yet. If you see someone hanging, just run up to them and boot 'em off; I haven't been pulled off once doing that so far, even if it's the headsmack, you'll still win.

There are times when you'll try for the kickoff and swing at nothing, but that's a problem with the geometry I'm guessing, where the game thinks the two of you aren't where you actually are.

I've had a couple instances of me standing directly in front of a hanging guy and I'm swinging at air while he's reaching right through me, then one of us moves an inch over and kicks/pulls the other.

Too right, half the map is underground it feels like, haha

I racked up 50 points by running at a wall in the underground tunnel leading out from the central house in Yemen, during Treasure Hunter on Team Objective. I have never laughed so much playing a game in my life. Fucking hilarious.

That's what I think too but, to be fair, during one Team Objective match today, with a King of the Hill zone unusually located on the lower floor in the middle of the map, there was some dude sniping from one of the towers ALL THE TIME, and that area is highly exposed (it's basically in the open, except two columns, from that angle).

I did go all the way up there and kick his ass a couple of times, but he kept going back on top of that goddamn tower the whole round.

In my experience the camping snipers on Yemen just make for easy grenade and melee kills.

If you are using the G-Mal on Yemen and trying to go head to head with snipers at long range, then I can see why you might get frustrated. On Yemen I just equip the AK rapid fire and I don’t engage in firefights unless it’s at a comfortable mid or close range. Yemen map is perfect and awesome the way it is.
 
BTW the overtime mechanic is SUCH a great addition. In this game earlier my team was always behind, but we scored 3 kills at the last possible moment to go into overtime. In the first few moments of OT the other team got 4 kills, we were losing 50-54. In the final 20 seconds I manage to get 4 kills in a row, plus a kill from another guy, and we end up winning! So awesome.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I've probably only completed 6 or so full sets thus far (level 30).

Not in regards to glitching, but on Yemen (near the Villain spawn), on the steps on the lefthand side, taking cover on the top step causes your character to stand diagonally when popping out of cover.

This. How more clear could it be what treasure chest is yours?

I threw the treasure in Chateau right beside the treasure chest, some idiot of my team grabs and runs to the middle of the front yard. Dude was level 13.

I will admit that twice, I was carrying the treasure to the wrong location. The problem is that I played about 6 plunder games back to back, and each time I was a hero. Then the next game, it put me in villains. It was so ingrained in me to bring it to the hero's spawn, that it took me a while to realize what I was doing.

I ran into this last night with some dude Mike_Yedi (if its a neogaffer be ashamed of yourself). Ruined it for the other 2 of us. Just kept glitching in Chateau to get kills. Wouldn't help us with the treasure, wouldn't come save people. The few times he came out for the siege point he would keep walking in front of my gun while I was shooting people and stealing kills. Then he started sending the other 2 of us playing messages begging us to join him in glitching.
 
for a cover based game nobody seems to really care about using cover o_o

its helped me so many times where some guy would be shooting at me and i just take cover behind something, pop out and kill them while they stay standing there like an idiot. most times they'll just keep shooting in my direction while i wait in cover until they have to reload then i pop out and kill them, so satisfying :)
 
So after the patch(es) I decided to try the beta again to see if it's still a glitchy, laggy PS3 freezer, and it's not! Yay!

I'm having a ton of fun. I really like the Yemen map. Sniping/killing snipers is super fun. I'm playing exclusively on Hardcore mode, and I really hope ND doesn't change it. It feels perfect.

Yeah, thoughtful use of taking cover is hot.

Also, blindfiring kills from cover are very satisfying.
 
I’ve gotta say that I absolutely do not envy Naughty Dog for having to sift through the gargantuan dung pile of user feedback. But I really need to get this off my chest…

LAG, LAG, LAG , LAG…. This is honestly my single only true complaint and genuine problem with this game’s multiplayer.

The health is great, the weapon balance is good, the maps are great, melee could use work but its passable, gunplay is great, core formula is phenomenal, pretty much everything is great. But the lag just utterly ruins the experience sometimes. All the other complaints I’ve been reading feel petty and trivial by comparison.

There are times when I empty a full clip into an enemy and nothing happens... they shoot back, I die, then 3 seconds later they die…the double melee KOs (or any double KO’s for that matter), host advantage, etc. This is unacceptable for a top-tier competitive multiplayer game which UC3has great potential to be. It’s giving me déjà vu of the mess that Gears 2 MP turned into.

This game seriously needs dedicated servers or something. This is Sony’s biggest and highest profile franchise for the PS3 and I honestly feel that dedicated servers for this game would be well worth the investment.

This game’s multiplayer has the potential to be absolutely phenomenal and attract a huge user base, but the lag problem is the biggest obstacle in the way of this. Evang, et. al., if you haven’t done this already, you guys should at least ask/petition SCE for dedicated servers. If any of Sony's IP's have the pedigree to deserve them, it's Uncharted. If they refuse, then nothing is lost anyways.
 
I'm about to bust a brain vessel. What the hell is the logic of 3 out of 5 guys on the team sitting at the enemy's treasure box for the entire game while 2 of us are out there against their whole team trying to get the treasure? It's like the higher the rank of people I get matched with, the more idiotic they are, and the better the teams are that I'm going against. It's amazing how people find such joy in sitting there doing nothing while we lose 5-1. You'd think they would see how the other team is steamrolling us by moving as a group.

Heh actually in UC2, Plunder was the best DM-like mode for farming kills and points. I remember spending over 100 hours with friends slaughtering clueless people going for the treasure. That was pre 1.04 (or whatever the big MP "fixing" patch was, stopped playing shortly after that) though, not sure if they ended up fixing that but Plunder was ridiculous.
Most high level/"pros" just took advantage of the mode to get free kills, they weren't interested in the least in the objective.

Naughty Dog are poor (or not rich enough) to afford dedicated servers, that or they are simply happy with the way the game plays on a p2p setup, I'd imagine playing from the US and getting host is all they need to write off dedicated servers, EU and other regions can suck a ****

I need to try the new map, I've been hanging out all day since yesterday and sunbathing on the beach and stuff, maybe later tonight.

What lag? The game is smooth as butter for me, I love the netcode in this game.

Maybe I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't find fun in turning an objective mode into something it's not. To me the fun of Plunder is that rush to cap a treasure, not an endless deathmatch to rack up POINTLESS KILLS IN A BETA WITHOUT LEADERBOARDS.

Having one of those days with this game right now. I think I'll put it down until tomorrow.

Congrats. You and your friends are the type of players ruining objective-based games.

Farming in Plunder needs to die.

So this will probably be my go-to MP game on PS3.

I have had so much fun in the past weeks, and this was only with a really limited beta. Great game ND. Really excited to see see how the final game turns out and what you do with all our suggestions/comments.

But I have to wonder, what the hell are you guys thinking releasing on November 1st?

You have Batman, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Elder Scrolls, Assassins Creed, and more games within a few weeks of each other. I hope the game does amazing, but you guys are surrounded by some real powerhouses, especially BF3 and MW3. Why wasn't January/February more of an option?

Just wanted to ask. I'll be buying it day one regardless.
