Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

A medium between the two is always nice.
 
We just pushed an update out that should (hopefully) resolve most/all major issues. right now it's US only.


(anybody still on a US account - log all the way out to XMB, relaunch the Beta and let us know if things have improved or not)

I haven't found a single use for the sprint yet. It feels so awful and doesn't make you go THAT much faster for the complete loss of control you get.

Small request - Could a tweak be made that allows you to press L3 to shoulder-switch while zooming in to aim? Right now, you can only switch after you're already aiming. Makes it feel a bit laggy and can be a detriment in situations where you need to quickly change perspective.

Glad things are getting sorted but does this mean UKers ain't gonna be able to play? and when can we expect the patch worldwide?

That'd be better, clicking a stick feels extremely awkward to me in a TPS.
 
PLEASE give us an option to regulate the gunsounds seperately! They are WAY too loud. If I play I can decide between "ok, now everyone in my house knows that I'm playing a shooter" or "game is totally silent, all I hear is gun sounds". That sucks!
 
Get prompted to download the 1.01 patch but it keeps crashing my PS3 when it tries to download it :(

Edit: It just worked, it's 18 MB.

Speaking about sounds that are too loud compared to the rest:
The intro cutscene to the airplane-map... the plane's engine. :-(
 
Fighting against level 18-20s now and the generous health is negated by the large damage boost the weapons get from their modules.

I guess the complainers can be happy.

Death comes within 1-2seconds usually.

so I'm using my fake US account trying to be an smart ass to get my beta up to date (1.01), but as soon as I confirm the prompt to update the PS3 'beeps' twice and reboots... is the update IP blocked?

edit: nevermind, I just tried my main account and the update is out in Spain already... weird that after patching the lobby still shows the same ver as before even though the XMB now reads "Uncharted 3 beta 1.01"
 
Is it 100% confirmed that your progress is saved server-side, and you don't lose it if you switch to a beta from another region?

I don´t know.. will find out tonight though.. becoause I played on the HK Beta last night. When stuff crashed and burned, I saw the EU one was up.. downloaded it and deleted HK beta, but never got around to boot up my EU beta.. just noticed that the Beta icons looked different for the HK, US and EU beta´s .. So when I start up tonight I will see if I´m level 5 or level 1..
 
By the way: The dual sign-in splitscreen-multiplayer is FANTASTIC.

Thanks. I'm tempted about downloading the EU beta myself, but I'm level 12 and I'd rather not lose my stuff :p

But... will the EU beta overwrite the HK version?

By the way: It's definately server-side, as my friend signed in with his PSN account when he was at my place to play some split-screen and he was still level 8. Even his loadout-settings were downloaded, I believe.

Either lots of Move time un-teached me how to aim with a stick or something is off. I'm having a very hard time aiming at people to the point that I actually hate having to shoot. I prefer to flee and go look for some chests.

Also, vertical / horizontal sensitivity should be different options. I feel like vertical is too sensitive but I don't want to slow down horizontal.
 
Just played a game and went 11k-11d-20assists

I'm definitely enjoying this game , the hit-detection it god-tier , a tiny bit of power to the AK and the M4 could really help as you never win a gun fight against the G-MAL if the opponent knows how to aim

another issue I have is the automatic melee lunge (similar to MW2's commando) when you have your back turned , earlier I was running away from a dude and he had to be like 15-18 ft behind and he automatically got one of those one hit melee , that used to happen in U2 and it's still happens in this game
 
A fart in the general direction of those who said weapons sound much better. After spending a lot of time with KZ3, the guns here still sound like shit.
 
Posted a feedback thread in the beta forums:

1. The core game is good, I can easily see myself playing it for a long time once some issues are ironed out
2. The IQ feels worse than UC2 for some reason, especially in the jaggie-ridden menus
3. The health is perfect. Please don't touch it
4. Some weapons feel unbalanced: AK and handgun are too weak, G-MAL and UZI too powerful (especially the UZI makes the handgun completely pointless)
5. Melee still needs work, still too many instances of double KO like Uncharted 2 (they are entirely predictable, depending on who hit first, and not fun)
6. Headshots should deal significantly more damage, perhaps not a one-hit kill but you shouldn't need more than two to kill your opponent
7. The whole gameplay feels significantly slower than Uncharted 2, the fast pace is lost and transversal is damaged
8. Aiming sensitivity should be upped quite a lot, even at maximum sensitivity camera movements feel very slow (and I usually play with low sensitivity settings), especially horizontally (separate sensitivity settings for horizontal and vertical aiming, both with much higher maximum values would be very helpful)
9. Not a fan of sprinting, especially since I loathe L3 and R3. This suggestion sounds good: http://forums.naughtydog.com/t5/Multiplayer-Beta-Discussion/IMPROVEMENT-Map-sprinting-to-the-circle-...
10. The buddy system is fun and reduces the instances of spawning in the wrong spot. Good addition
11. Mods, boosters, kickbacks and power plays can add to the gameplay, but they should stay low-profile enough not to detract, dilute or unbalance it (RPG spawns and smoke bombs are treading on a very fine line, especially the latter should get the counter back to 0 not to be abused)
12. Power plays happen way too often (should be limited to once or twice per match), even when the score differences aren't high enough (and they should end ahead of time if the difference wears too thin, losing a match for a single Power Play is not fun, it's frustrating)
13. Power plays like VIP are fun and add some variation, others like Cursed absolutely need to go: this one, especially, adds confusion and, more importantly, is not fun for both teams (as it should be)
14. Wall hacks letting you see enemies through walls are a bad idea all around, they're simply not fun
15. The Chateau map is good, focused and allowing for a good deal of freedom
16. The plane assault part of Airstrip is heavily unbalanced, the villains start in a position of clear disadvantage. Differentiating their roles is neat, but there shouldn't be inequalities between them (perhaps both teams could be trying to board the plane from opposite directions?). This part is wowsome the first few times but gets old fast, and if you spawn on the trucks you end up just waiting for it to be over (not fun)
17. The actual Airstrip map needs more visual variety, it feels too samey and the layout is difficult to navigate. More verticality through additional buildings and a better use of the structures surrounding the main building (which could be made smaller) would also help
18. Not nearly enough shotgun spawn points in the beta maps (but I may be biased on this, being a fan of the shotty myself)

Can't think of anything else right now, hope this helps.

It feels just like Uncharted 2 gameplay-wise. Not sure if this is the game I'd play online for hours, but I'm really looking forward for the campaign since that's what I love about this series. Hope Naughty Dog delivers some sp goodies.

After playing more, I definitely think it is good, but absolutely nothing standout IMO. Looks like BF3 is my mp fix this winter.
 
Am i the only one concerned that you have to pay medals to switch diffrent loadouts in game? It's not like you get the a new loadout instantly, you still have to die after paying and get them on the next respawn.

It blows my mind that this design choice was made. Every shooter I have played with a Loadout doesn't have this ridiculous requirement for changing loadouts.

WHY NAUGHTY BAD DOG's!?!
