Willeth said:Someone mentioned earlier that everyone should see themselves as the heroes and the enemies as the villains. I can't quite see why this wouldn't work - the only things that really depend on team are the cutscenes at the beginning/end, and it's trivial to load different ones depending on the player's viewpoint.
Then again I'm sure when the game is actually out, the villains will be much more recognisable characters from the single-player and you'll be able to select Lasarevic, Navarro, etc.
I think they are a smart idea for keeping the match close, but they need some significant tweaks. They last too long and happen too often. They should be a crutch for teams losing by a fair margin, not for those that still have a legitimate chance for a comeback.alr1ghtstart said:Powerplays are absolutely awful in their present state. 10 kill difference should be the trigger, and they should last for 30 seconds. Or keep their present state, but they should end immediately once every member of the winning team is killed once.
PedroLumpy said:But you see, calling 'Snipe 3' does not tell your team EXACTLY where he is and where he's moving in 3D space. There's a massive difference in showing where someone is on a map, and showing where they are on your HUD. And besides, your problem seems to be the map design. Trying to cover that problem with another problem isn't a good idea. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that.
It's true it did have that, but that's not what I was referring to. Everyone had an ability where they could look at an enemy and press the D-Pad to send a message to the rest of the team saying something like "3 enemies, Ramp side low" It was quick and succinct without going too far.
Agreed on all points.bobbytkc said:I like the game overall but wold like the following improvements:
i)aiming and camera speed is too slow. There should be more controller tweaks available for players to change this. See killzone 3 for how it should be done.
ii) movement and traversal needs to be sped up, at this point, it just feels sluggish. I am not sure if this was intended, but controller latency feels too high.
iii) melee feels terrible. Pressing a melee stops you in your tracks. it just does not feel rewarding to use melee, and almost every other online multiplayer has a more satisfying implementation of melee. This needs to be improved, as I feel it is one of the weakest aspects of the game.
iv) bullet spread feels way too high when starting out.
v) the cargo plane stage is just way too unfair and unbalanced.
vi) you should start out with more customization options available as default. Every character looks the same, because there is nothing to customize initially.
vii) paid boosters are an abomination
viii) powerplays should be limited to twice per match.
ix) where the fuck is the Move support. Socom has it, it is amazing, USE IT.
x) there are way too many things that makes a strong player even stronger. Kickbacks, paid boosters, weapon mods etc benefit skilled players way more than average, or below average players because good players get them faster and more frequently. WTF is up with that.
xi) matchmaking takes way too long. Also, why does it try to find new players everytime a match ends instead of going straight to voting for the next stage?
I know the game is not finished, but dear god, ND has a long way to go if they really want to make this the PS3's go to multiplayer game. They will be pulverized by BF3 and COD at the end of the year if the current state is anything to go by.

Yeah, I hate that ! that doesn't want to go away as well. My OCD gets to me when I see it.InsertNameHere said:One annoying thing is a bug where I have both weapon upgrades for a weapon purchased, but I still get the big ! next to it like there's something new. It's on the pistol in co-op.
Why is it called hardcore mode? That's such a devisive term for what is essentially the core game without the gimmicksarne said:Hardcore mode?

Yep
ii) movement and traversal needs to be sped up, at this point, it just feels sluggish. I am not sure if this was intended, but controller latency feels too high.
Ehhh, maybe a slight boost, but I'm ok with how it is now
iii) melee feels terrible. Pressing a melee stops you in your tracks. it just does not feel rewarding to use melee, and almost every other online multiplayer has a more satisfying implementation of melee. This needs to be improved, as I feel it is one of the weakest aspects of the game.
Agreed, melee in this game is terrible, and is terrible in U2. No idea how they can change it.
iv) bullet spread feels way too high when starting out.
Ehh, maybe decrease the spread a LITTLE, but I am fine with how it is now, even without the boosters.
v) the cargo plane stage is just way too unfair and unbalanced.
Yeah. Needs more entrances to the plane, or something. Heroes have the advantage from the get go. Maybe increase the amount of trucks, and have both teams spawn on the trucks, away from each other?
vi) you should start out with more customization options available as default. Every character looks the same, because there is nothing to customize initially.
Probably just a beta limitation.
vii) paid boosters are an abomination
Don't really agree. What are people who have maxed out their character going to spend the 5 million in cash that they have? Needs to be able to be spent somehow.
viii) powerplays should be limited to twice per match.
Hmmm. Not sure about this one. I say, if the opposing team is 7-10 points behind, it activates. Gives the winning team a buffer, but still allows the losing team an ability to catch up.
ix) where the fuck is the Move support. Socom has it, it is amazing, USE IT.
Mehh, whatever.
x) there are way too many things that makes a strong player even stronger. Kickbacks, paid boosters, weapon mods etc benefit skilled players way more than average, or below average players because good players get them faster and more frequently. WTF is up with that.
So whats the solution here? Get rid of it? I have no problem. A couple matches in hardcore will get you the xp you need.
xi) matchmaking takes way too long. Also, why does it try to find new players everytime a match ends instead of going straight to voting for the next stage?
Agreed. Though I don't think it drops everyone. Played in 2v2v2, and after the match, it said "found player", and stayed like that for a good 30 seconds. Then it showed the players, and it was everyone from before. The fuck was taking so long? U3 definitely has one of the longest matchmaking processes I have ever seen. No doubt about that.
xii) also, I can't count the number of times I got killed even though I moved out of the line of fire and was taking cover behind a wall. I don't think this is supposed to happen.
Yeah. Sometimes it feels like the bullets went around the cover. Probably the netcode? Or the hitboxes?
I know the game is not finished, but dear god, ND has a long way to go if they really want to make this the PS3's go to multiplayer game. They will be pulverized by BF3 and COD at the end of the year if the current state is anything to go by.

Here is a quick fix that ND came up with for this issue. Hopefully it works for you.flipswitch said:Updated to the latest version and I still cannot connect.Error downloading config file comes up all the time. Dloaded off the aus PSN
I love it, but just when I'm playing on Chateau, beautiful map, not a fan of Airstrip, can't wait for the new map to roll out.commedieu said:So... does gaf hate UC3b?

How is this any different from all other games that use leveling up for unlocks?SuperSonic1305 said:I think the game plays fine but I agree that paid boosters are a travesty. Higher ranked players get a huge advantage because they actually have the money to spend on them.

imo, as long as matchmaking is functional, you shouldn't have to worry about this.
I like it more than the Gears 3 beta!!!commedieu said:So... does gaf hate UC3b?
What's wrong with Skype? Sure, it's not integrated on PS3, but I think it's a pretty elegant solution nonetheless.TheMissingLink said:Having to use Skype on my netbook to group-chat with your friends while playing on a "next-gen console."
Priceless.
The retail rewards aren't in the beta, they're meant for the retail version. My understanding is your account automatically gets flagged server side when you complete an objective. Come retail time they'll automatically unlock the rewards when you log in with your beta account or they'll send out voucher codes via email.FTH said:I like it more than the Gears 3 beta!!!
I can't figure out how to unlock the retail rewards though, still haven't found the avatar. Or does that stuff unlock on the actual retail copy and you keep the save data?
