Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

You know what? This game should auto kick a player if he/she is inactive for a certain period. I think Killzone 3 MP has this feature. About half of the games I played so far had one or two players who were inactive for almost the entire match.

U2 does, so it's probably just not implemented yet.

Looking into it more I think my health concern is from the massive bullet lag the game has.I'm getting some of the worst lag ever with me shooting forever and doing seemingly no damage while they shoot back and then they die like 10 seconds later.

Also, I keep getting signed out with it saying you have been kicked for no reason.

I've been kicked from a game for being inactive, was "afk" for around a minute.

Oh, that's weird because I remember being away myself more than once for a considerable period and was still in-game. I'll have to check this again. Thanks for the heads up. :)

I think I made myself clear.

What if I'm providing overwatch support to the treasure runner? Can I still play plunder?

If someone has the treaure, then supporting them is a good thing. But when that person dies, who are you supporting? Don't you think at that time it might be a good idea to become the runner yourself?

I think at that time it would be a good idea to clear the swarm of enemies that just took out the runner and wait for reinforcements

The team that more aggressively moves the treasure is the team that wins the match.

Not entirely, if everyone on the enemy team rushes the treasure i can pretty much shut them down before they can even throw it, they become too predictable and i can set up shop wherever i please. You have to move the treasure for sure, but if all you do is beeline for it, you're doomed to fail. circling behind defensive lines, using vantage points to clear spaces, using cover to prevent enemy advance/pursuit. These are the things that are going to let you actually move the treasure instead of picking it up and dying immediately.

Lol, in no way did I get owned. The exact changes are the ones I called out. Hell, I've never used the G-Mal, but I did use these other weapons and saw the stated changes immediately. All of my own suspicions turned out to in fact be the truth. What now?

If you think I was specifically addressing you, take heed, you're not that important. The over reacting bitch fest that was sprinkled with 'you can no longer do traversal/not buying this game/reading about the changes are making me skip this game at retail' stuff is what was way over the top. Noting factual weapon damage changes? Nothing wrong with that, everything else is a hilarious placebo effect and a funny/embarrassing example of human psychology.

Wow, I was actually starting to like the MP until the weapon damage change. Once again proves how pure garbage will always be garbage. Just stick to Single Player ND and save yourselves the trouble.

The micro and para 9 changes were really that game breaking?

Pure garbage will always be garbage? Hyperbole much?

I have no problem with the balance for a game four months from release being off (and changed multiple times in the span of a brief beta). Also, if ND wants to play around with some more extreme changes now, better than them trying those things in retail. Either way, I've found the beta super fun despite a few genuine flaws and UC2 MP was also quite fun, so from my point of view "pure garbage" is a ridiculous thing to say. But yes, opinions and all that, so I'm not sure why I'm wasting my breath.

So you were enjoying garbage until they made it garbage that you didn't like? :\

Go back and read, dude.

I really dislike players like you in Plunder. I've come across these types of players all the time. If the treasure is right in front of the treasure box, you wouldn't even bother putting it in because you'll use the excuse of "clearing out the area and waiting for reinforcements" despite the fact it would only take you a matter of seconds of grabbing it and scoring it. Who cares if you die? Obviously we have to expect some team mates to help with the oncoming forces of enemies to help out, but in the grand scheme of things I'm pretty sure 95% of those players don't give a shit about advancing the idol or scoring it for that matter.

And for the record, the team that is constantly moving the idol towards the base in an agressive manner is the team that wins the majority of the time if everyone is doing their part in advancing it.

Posting this again:

Tech Analysis: Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta
As it is, we have been able to pick out a small range of changes and improvements from the slice of gameplay revealed thus far. To begin with, the 2x multi-sampling anti-aliasing has been removed completely. This is a good move on the part of Naughty Dog: the coverage we saw in Uncharted 2 wasn't especially fantastic and by moving to a different solution the developers can free up precious memory and bandwidth. In its place is what appears to be a new form of post-process/screen-space anti-aliasing technique we've not seen before.

It is perhaps a less exhaustive or cheaper form of MLAA and it seems to be pretty good at smoothing off long edges, but it does seem to miss a lot of jaggies we would expect it to pick up on. Coverage is inconsistent, but where it is applied it does a good job, and the technique remains in place on the split-screen and 3D modes, which really push the Uncharted engine to its limits.

Other elements of the image make-up also appear to be refinements of the existing technology. The ambient occlusion was a little lacking in Uncharted 2, essentially radiating outwards on a firm x and y axis, giving a "plus" shaped look. The new effect in Uncharted 3 is significantly more refined. Similarly, the implementation of dynamic shadows looks to have been improved: the shadow cascade seems to be smoother than it was in Uncharted 2, meaning less noticeable transition points between different shadow resolutions as you move further into the scene.

K/D ratio should just go. Just register it for gamemodes where it matters, like TDM. For everything else jsut register the points which are important for teamplay. I made a thread about this many years ago.

Wow, you sound like an idiot. I'm sure Naughty Dog will take your comment to heart and stick to single player. Slight weapon damage change? This game is worth less than nothing! You act as if it's some frustratingly unplayable unfair experience - it clearly isn't.

And what GMAL change are you referring to that made you go from "starting to like" multiplayer to thinking it's "pure garbage" ? Because I haven't notice a change with the GMAL at all.

More often than not if they have it well covered i'll die BEFORE I finish the planting animation, and thus no plant. I'll plant and die if I think I can actually make the plant but if they've got 3 covering the chest there's no way it's going to happen.

I'm not saying I don't run the treasure or throw it. There are times when it is a smart move and there are times when it is extremely stupid and you are giving the game to your opponents. That second part of what I just said is what you seem to have difficulty grasping.

I'll tell you what I've noticed empirically, 9 times out of 10 the winning team has higher KDR than the losing team on plunder overall. Better able to keep the map clear of enemies means better control of the map means it's easier to move the treasure. You can't go around ignoring shooting in a third person shooter just because you're worried about the purity of the game mode, especially when such a singleminded pursuit is more likely to cost you the game than win you it

well, people are already griefing in Chateau plunder. You can throw the idol onto the top level of the little destroyed shack (the one with the stationary gun), and it will never respawn.

Played a match of plunder where someone threw the treasure off the cliff, and it just stayed on a ledge underneath. No one could reach it without dying and it never respawned :(

I do whatever it takes to move the treasure towards our team's chest, even when it means sure death. I see it a lot, what you objective-oriented guys are angry about, and I am too. There is so much space to score and it's frustrating to see friendlies running around confusingly, trying to find an enemy which is not there. Whatever objective there is for people to fight and die for, those involved should be especially awarded for being part of accomplishment. Anyone who touches the treasure should gain a medal and even more of them for planting and making those last steps towards the chest. Those defending the treasure should gain 2 kills for each if they are in close proximity from the man holding it.

Has ND said anything regarding the matches starting so quick after one ends. In some cases you don't even have a chance to exit that particular gametype.
Hopefully they're looking into this.

Geeze plunder is so annoying. I keep getting stuck on teams where I'm the only one going after the treasure and my teammates are doing stupid stuff like waiting for the other team to bring the treasure back to their base when it's near our base or standing in corners nowhere near the treasure waiting for an ambush that is never coming.

Tip: On king of the hill, having the territory your colour does jack shit. If nobody is in it, you get no points. If 5 people are in the circle, you get 5 points each tick. Hovering around the green circle does nothing.

I think this needs to come across better.

Perhaps ND could include a training session similar to what was in AC:B's MP. It laid out the basics well enough in a playable setting.

No. Nothing in this beta carries over. You get a cash reward for reaching level 25 on the beta in the retail version as well as decal emblems for playing each mode a certain number of times (can't remember if it's 5 or 10).

People bitched that matches were taking too long to start after finishing a match so they shortened the window to back out of a match.

What sucks is it's EVERY TYPE, meaning if you miss out on playing 10 games of say, free for all back at the start of the beta, then you are shit outta luck.
