Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

It would have great effect if they were gaining nothing from the kills in those modes. They'd run off to the deathmatch modes.

Am I being naive in thinking that the ideal would be that every mode would result in roughly the same amount of money earned per match, provided the player was playing the mode correctly and dependant on skill level?

That way players should gravitate towards the game types they find most enjoyable and not the ones they think will reward them the most for the least amount of effort.

lolz at some retard calling me cheater because I killed him with the accuracy mod of the GMAL.

so does it really help a lot for long range? I wouldn't mind quickly popping a few snipers in Yemen with a G-Mal.

If they gimped Micro SMG (it felt like it today when I was playing, but I wasn't rocking the SMG very much) accuracy modded G-Mal is the best weapon in the game IMO. It's very accurate, super long range and does decent damage. G-Mal is was my favorite gun in U2 too so it could be just that I am so used to playing with it.

I've never used the GMAL without the accuracy mod, so I don't know, but I find it to be great at long-range and mid-range. It's completely useless when someone's all up in your face.

EPIC.

24-8 Mayne, I do it.

On a un-related note: Arne please hear me out and create the ability to merge player searching lobbies like MW2, I believe this may cut down the waiting time.

EDIT: Anybody have a list of where I can find the dragon sniper in each map?

Jealous! I still can't get the last treasure for them. It never drops for me! Can you combine the aviators with the hat?

I have the Aviators as well, the two treasures you need for them you get from Co-op Adventure.

Found the most amazing spot in the airplane sequence in airstrip if you're a villain, every team i've used it against falls for it every single time. I quite like that section now. :P

You know, I never thought about this until now, but the Uncharted 2 maps were perfectly designed. Want to know why? Because people were everywhere on those maps. There was never a centralized spot where all the fighting took place like the zipline room in the Chaeteu (fuck, I'll never spell this right lol). You could go anywhere in the UC2 maps that weren't wasted space where you could always find people. When I say wasted space, I mean the spots near the turrets in the chaeteu. People never fight there or even run there for that matter unless it's for a power weapon (rocket launcher/hammer) in deathmatch, and to me it's a shame. The house is the centralized spot of the map. For the Airfield, it's centralized spots are the rooftops and the inner factory. You don't see firefights in the place where the airplanes are at towards the back of them and no fights where the T-Bolt Sniper is at. Yemen is the slight exception, but I give it the benefit of doubt because it's a new map and people are learning it so they're running everywhere to get accustomed to it. The first few days of the beta were great since people didn't know the maps, so people were actually everwhere on the map taking advantage of every single location. People were in the turret areas, people were by the T-bolt sniper in the Airfield..there wasn't any wasted spots. I hope the other maps keep a similar design like the Uncharted 2 maps.

the thing is ... people don't go to the place where you're exposed . No place is safe but some more than others. The zipline room is chateau can be defended quite easily with 3 players who know what they are doing . but you know that's just how team matches are ..In free for all , everyone is using the map since you can't buddy spawn or have someone help you.

IMO the zipline room in chateau isn't safe at all since you have like 5 entry points . and One cluster grenade or 2 regular grenades can be all it takes to crack that defense. when i play as a team in chateau , yeah we go there , but we don't stay long in that place because it quickly can become a death trap.

I must have played about 10 matches of co-op adventure and I always end up getting that ring. :(

And it's not like enemies drop treasures...I've only noticed the armored shotgun that has the 3 medal symbol guy giving a treasure. I've killed the brute in almost every single match too, but he doesn't drop anything. lol

Another poster mentioned that it was due to the buddy system and he's absolutely right. You're also right when it comes to Free for All. Since you're alone and don't have a buddy, people do run around everywhere most of the time. However, back to the buddy thing, it's actually the number one reason why there's always a centralized fighting place in Team Deathmatch. Note, my original comment was talking purely about Team Deathmatch. I know for Team Objective, you pretty much explore all the map thanks to the capture zones. In Uncharted 2, you had no buddy to spawn with, so you always spawned somewhere else in the map alone. This actually helped create less empty areas of inactivity in the original maps.

While a lot of the games are the same in effect as in Uncharted 2 (which is great), I have the following issues with the game:

1. Hopefully there's a tutorial or better introduction to MP features. I've played the games before and am able to get used to it but unless the MP features are more user friendly you'll still get a low adoption rate for the mp portion of the game. The modes and features aren't intuitive enough for casual players.

2. It's difficult to tell where opponents are in relation to where you spawn in TDM. Whenever a player spawns (excluding teammate spawns) it's usually "Okay where am I?" followed by "Okay where is the enemy?". That second question is currently a big problem.

It's clearly a very fast-paced run and gun game but it's also difficult to determine if you're running into them or from them. A lot of the vanilla Uncharted 2 maps have branching paths between player camps, so this meant that even if you had alternating spawns, you could essentially narrow down where the enemy was (which invariably led to grenade spam in Uncharted 2), with the later maps that added more upwards movement, and for which all 3 Uncharted 3 beta maps seem to be, the map is more labyrinthine.

3. I can't tell if there's an icon that reflects teammate elevation. The levels are very vertical and busy so when you're trying to link up or protect teammates, it again adds an element of searching for them that's unneeded, especially when a power-play lasts seconds.

4. Matchmaking doesn't match so well. It might have something to do with party play, but I don't see how a team of less than rank 10 could really be matched all that well with a team in their late 30's and early 40's.

There's a few technical issues too but I need to re-review some vids to make sure they're there and not lag or something I thought I saw.

I agree ND needs a good tutorial or intro, coz all the "perks" and special modes confused me. I gave up on all of them except hardcore and traditional co-op.

Have fun defending that room while I pluck you off one by one from the area outside the chateau :)

Another thing that most people don't know is that the more players you have inside the capture zone in King of the Hill for Team Objective, the more points you gain. Most people don't know this and go outside the zone to 'defend' and leave only one or two people inside the capture zone. I have to tell them on the mic that the more people in our team stay inside, the quicker we'll advance our score. I don't blame them of course because the game doesn't make it clear enough for them to understand.

Regarding King of the Hill, the spot in Yemen is hilariously small and easy to just grenade/cluster bomb spam to clear everyone that's inside it.

fuck i was murdering some f00s tonight in this game. Makes me kinda anticipate Uncharted 3. Never a huge fan of the series but it does excite my big large production meter of the brain for sure.

game has a rad sense of balance. lots of back and forth. i only don't appreciate the lame blue grenade rain all the time. always something

what do the blue grenades do?

He's talking about the cluster bomb. You know, where you throw it and it shoots out five additional grenades around it's area.

it's a cluster bomb. fucker splits into mad grenades. everybody has it and just fucking pelts the place where the objective is. once it starts raining you either stumble like crazy or you just die, since they come from everywhere with the coordinated teams. overpowered like nuts and complete lame, unskilled crap. Always one ability like that in these games.

Wow, tonight was some of the worst people I've run into since the beta started. Both in co-op and objective modes no one did a single thing they were supposed to do. I have no idea how they can't figure it out with both text and a giant yellow arrow telling you where to go.

i had nothing but great experiences tonight. of course, it is only like my second night. the random team all had mics tonight and were all extremely friendly and all teamwork oriented and shit

I've had mostly good experiences, especially last night. Just bad luck, I guess.

I just joined a co-op adventure game already in progress. I literally just had to climb the tower and walk into the glowing ring to end the game. :lol

I've never been able to get past the machine gun guy because my teammates always suck and kill me with grenades repeatedly.

But... how could you have talked to them if you didn't have a buddy transmitting what you said through his PSN mic? :D (You didn't talk to us directly last time.)

It's so simple. Kill the snipers, kill the sponge. Having Team Medic is very helpful. Sometimes you just roll bad randoms. :[

I try as hard as I can but the randoms seem to love teamkilling me.

To kill the big guy just pick up a T-Bolt sniper and pelt him in the head while your idiot teammates try to melee him.

There's 2 T-Bolts right where you first climb up.

I just had one of my best games ever. It was plunder on chateau, and it ended 4 to 3 with my team winning. I scored all 4! My favorite moment was when I was carrying it around a corner from upstairs knowingly tailed by 2 guys and almost dead. I dropped it, and jumped around a corner quickly and dropped a grenade right on the thing and they both died. I picked it up in the smoke and proceeded to toss it, pick it up and put it in all under fire. So amazing. And it was hilarious because I started out absolutely terrible, dying at least like 3 times before doing anything.

Cool, I'll keep that in mind. Why do randoms always try to melee him?

I really love the Uncharted TV feature and execution. It was so cool seeing the best clips from the past week.

I'm really enjoying this beta after all the updates. It's going to be a painfully long wait for the full game.

I usually melee enemies if they're close by. They're easy to kill and it doesn't waste ammo. The only tricky part is when people don't realize they can't attack bigger guys or sneaky guys like that. Usually inexperience with the Uncharted AI.

I tried to quickly take a picture of this. This is suppose to be a glitch right? These two players were in the top corner of the building by the turret jumping around and I didn't know what they were trying to do at first (I'm mDmola btw). The other guy was dead at the time, but this guy was just shooting at enemies during gold rush (my past 3 games have been terrible because people won't do objectives).

why is the camera always inverted in cinema mode/free cam?
I know! I don't know why they changed it from UC2's cinema mode. It's really confusing to control the camera for me.

Is there any auto-aim? It feels like there isn't, but I shouldn't be able to aim if there isn't any...

Yeah, but it's not so bad most of the time. I had a weird few seconds yesterday where my AK switched to a guy I couldn't even see that was behind a wall. I had no idea that the guy was there until my gun pointed at him.

This is a little late but I just got a chance to play Yemen and all I gotta say is WOW! There are so many places you can climb and get the drop on someone. This is the best map in the beta. Also, I've noticed a lot of sniping in this map but it's so easy to kill them that it doesn't bother me at all.

Yemen is freakin' awesome. I love the use of levels and I really like the different offensive and defensive strategies you can adopt depending on the game mode of choice. It's a dynamic - and not to mention beautiful - map, if a bit sniper heavy (though I'm not complaining as I prefer the sniper rifle). Here's hoping more high-quality maps of this calibre show up in the final release. Maybe 12 maps total? Maybe more?

Is there auto aim in HC mode? I def noticed it in team deathmatch but not in HC but it might just be me.

Fucking pistol. Turn a corner and BOOM BOOM. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. I hate this gun and I hate you if you use it.
:)

I love it, good on them to increase the power from the pea shooter it was earlier in the beta, it was my primary in U2 and it's a great gun now, second to the G-Mal.

Played a few matches today. Yemen has pretty cool "like a boss" moments:

  • Sliding down the zipline and dropping a grenade (or cluster grenade) right in the middle area to kill someone.
  • Killing someone with a clean sniper shot while he goes down said zipline.

Fucking glitchers. One kill away from winning and this fuckhead is shooting people through walls for the final kill.
