De Palma's Sisters was freaky and fun. The Entity is harrowing.

Not that it's really underappreciated, but being the best horror movie of the last 20 years it should get WAAAAAAAAAAY much more credit, attention and fame.
rogue_pigeon said:It really isn't. Like, at all.
Count Dookkake said:The giant VHS box for RABID used to terrify me as a kid. Bad enough was the dessicated Marilyn Chambers on the front, but on the back was some chick with bloody teeth. In my feverish and frightened imagination, it was dangerous just to walk past or glance at that box.

Count Dookkake said:THE GATE is a wonderful children's horror flick. Scared the shit out of me on more than one sleepover. Made a great double feature with Wes Craven's underrated DEADLY FRIEND, which all of GAF should see if they like movies about nerds with cool robots and hot chick friends.
Also, I am in full support of PRINCE OF DARKNESS and SESSION 9.
That's a sweet wedding gift.
This is what I am talking about when I say that genre people tend to be nice.

I generally ignore the horror genre, but I loved this one and it made me start giving horror movies a look.

Please, just watch it without spoilers. Yes, it looks like a 90s teen show. It does not end that way. You will love it, I promise.
DEMONS
The best zombie movie that most people have not seen. You will be amazed by the final battle.

Talk to the average joe who has seen it and they'll tell you it's shit. Just because it made a lot of money doesn't mean it's appreciated as a movie now.subversus said:it's the second one in this thread.
IT IS NOT UNDERAPPRECIATED, it's a huge box office hit!

Glass Joe said:YES!!! Everything De Palma is awesome. Or at least, most everything. Very Hitchcockian.
Also, no one's mentioned Phantasm? Then I'll say it: Phantasm.
It's not "well made" in that there's cheesy dialogue and cornball acting, but it was just the weirdest thing I've seen in a while. Last I knew, it was streaming on Netflix. Probably a love it or hate it movie, but I really dug it.

hard to explain....the imagery and claustrophobic sense is disturbing enough to follow.

This movie is the bomb[/QUOTE]
I always think of the closing scene whenever I hear of particularly depressing news.
Count Dookkake said:You should check out the sequels.
2 is pretty effin sweet, thought by some to be the ALIENS of the series.
3 is not so good, but has some neat stuff in it.
4 is a bit of low-budget genius because it uses cut footage from 1 to create a time-travel plot.
It is a shame the Roger Avery sequel will never be made. Script sounded nuts.
