2. Assassin's Creed brotherhood. Now bear in mind I picked this up on a Uplay sale after I beat black flag due to having nostalgia for playing it on PS3 (I. E. Years after all parches were out.) I try and start it and it says it needs an update (after I just bought and downloaded it in the Uplay client.) let that go, launch the game... And it's a buggy mess that runs like garbage and crashes 20 mins in. Try to start it again. Says it needs another patch. Slight improvement, lasts an hour until it crashes. In the end I had to boot it and close it nine times before it incrementally installed all the patches. This, may I remind you is for a game published and developed by them, bought and installed through the client they built. That put me off ever wanting to use Uplay again.
I had the exact same experience with AC3. I'd be willing to bet money that it would download another patch if I attempted to play it right now.

I don't buy PC games that use Uplay anymore.

I just remember 2 experiences specifically with Uplay that made me hate the service so much that I now play all Ubisoft titles on console, if at all.

1. Far Cry 3 asked me to download an exe file from a website to patch it. Hardly egregious, but still a ridiculous thing to happen in this day and age.

? I never had Far Cry 3 ask me to go to another site to download a patch. It did the Steam auto-download thing for me.

Maybe. She is running alpha software so it may have a lot conditions to work correctly.
Good of you to mention that particular fact.

Let that roll off your tongue. She is playing alpha software. And complaining that the process is involved and time consuming. Alpha software.

I mean, I'd get it if this were a genuine rant about a game on release day or something. It's not, though. The gal is seriously complaining that the experimental version of the game that is still right in the middle of being made is requiring extra care and attention. My brain.

...Provided she isn't doing something wrong. Or maybe she has to install FRAPS and whatnot so they can grab screens and videos of the game? I could see how that would take a while if this revamped gaming PC wasn't up to date and needed extensive maintenance. I know some companies swear by a suite of applications that need to be installed on all workstations regardless of utility. Shit can get really stupid depending on the IT personnel. Still doesn't really gel with those tweets, but you never know.
