US Console Battlefield Bad Company 2 Players from Online Game Mode unless...

Yeah, I hope this hurts the sales of the game. I wasn't planning on buying it day 1, but all this does is reinforce my wait and see stance. If anything preorders should be "BONUS" not the non-gimped version.

I dont see how this is more offensive than the other preorder bonus content. To me it's a hell of a lot better. At least this way it's something I don't care about and not actual content I will never be able to get unless they put it up for sale as dlc. See mass effect, RDR, GoW ect ect

I just don't see how this is a bigger deal than other bonus content unless you are a die hard day one fan and even then you probably pre ordered the game in the first place. What is waiting a few weeks for a single mode?

This won't hurt sales one bit most people will pre order (those not in gaf). Because of this.

Stupid bastards. I'd like to see it have a dent on Gamestop's sales. But I imagine this is only the beginning of it.

"In game bonus" shouldn't mean gimping other pre-orders elsewhere. A gun slightly early, odd perk which doesn't effect gameplay. Sure. I wonder if EA will push the boat truly out and put effective multiplayer bonuses with Medal of Honor? :|

Gamestop exclusive WTF? What about game crazy? Gamestop is out of my way and I hate them anyways. Holding a gamemode back from the United States of America? The founding fathers would be ashamed. Add to that, this is only for console players plus a store exclusive? What the fucking fuck...

you sir just made my day :lol :lol :lol :lol

I already have the PC version paid off via Steam. This announcement has delayed my already planned day one purchase of the PS3 version from Best Buy for a month. I blame EA for this, not DICE. However, I wonder if this will lead to my not getting the LE....hrmm, maybe I buy it from Best Buy and not open it for a month? Sheesh.

What the hell is going on with the title? I just cant make sense of it.

Anyway this has to be one of the worst fucking ideas for a pre order incentive I have ever seen. Funny how both Battlefield and the other game with stupid pre order nonsense army of two both have the same publisher.

i'm a pretty big BC fan and i usually preorder from gamestop anyway, and i did with this game too so this doesn't affect me personally, but still i say this: if this upsets you and yet you still want to play the game, buy it used. they don't get a dime from you, you get it for less and maybe it makes a tiny dent and they notice if enough people talk about it (probably not) but at least you didn't support them. hell, i bought LBP used because of the delay/song removal!

plus if you have the game, that's more people to play with...

seriously though, these retarded preorder bonuses need to stop.

Youd' figure that DICE wouldn't be ok with this, seeing as they are trying to peel away players from MW2. Blocking a whole online mode isn't the greatest way to go about doing that.

Does anyone have any examples of pre-order content that has never been made available to the rest of the people who buy the game without a pre-order.

I mean, Forza 3 has a pre-order car pack, can I never get those cars now because I didn't pre-order the game? Even if I was willing to pay for them?

To me, this isn't a big deal, although a little unfair to specifically inflict this upon United States gamers. 30 days isn't that long, if one friend has it, you can tag along with no problems and it will be a level playing field for everyone after that month.

I much prefer this to say, a gun or armour that actually changes gameplay balance, or an exclusive map that not everyone can play on, or some of the other crap we've seen given away as pre-order bonuses. This is just a little nudge to get people who were on the fence about buying it day 1, to put their money down. If they don't, well it's hardly a huge problem.

We know what this is, we know the restrictions and we know when people who are willing to wait will get access to the content. I'm happy with that.

Also, the whole friends can tag along thing is a feature more games need to utilise. Crackdown did this, one person buys the DLC and the other player can access all the content when playing online. I really like that system. It would encourage me to buy more DLC if my friend and I could share it. (have free sample versions of DLC for other people to download that has the rest of the content locked, like Forza car packs)

Thank you DICE/EA/whomever!

What a refreshing idea! I was unsure if this was a day 1 purchase but after this, I'll make I give you as little of my money as possible. As much as I enjoy being bent over and screwed because Gamestop execs give great bj's to get this "exclusivity", I'll fucking pass.

Day >1, used at a local game shop.

people not getting the game because of this are missing out on a good thing.

that game mode looked like a waste of time anyway.

it's 4 on 4 on 4 on 4 team deathmatch, come on.

I totally agree with him. Why don't we have this outrage with skins and content that are only available for pre order (codes which you'd have to get the game at 3 different places to get all of it AC2) and never released to every one else? when this is just 30 days of a game mode.

As I said in my previous post and as Dead Man Typing said in what regard is this bonus worse than what every one else is doing. I find this a way better option than pre order bonus exclusive content that anyone who doesn't pre order doesn't get. I for one refuse to pre order.

Sure I don't give a rats ass about a multiplayer skin or gold plated gun that is just for looks in multiplayer but things like maps, and gameplay changers like ME2 just kinda piss me off. Same with Red dead Redemption that has 3 skins and pre order will only get one of them. Least with this we know its coming in 30 days for everyone else unlike anything I listed. That content isn't even available as DLC right now.

Publishers the best preorder bonus is a reduced price. $55 for preorder .. $60 day one. Like Valve does it. Imagine that; Valve ahead of the rest of the industry on how to treat customers...

EDIT:
Some people don't care about guns.. some don't care about levels. But almost everyone cares about $$. If I preorder I save $$ if I don't then it ends up costing me $$ if buy the game day one or soon there after.

it's the squad rush mode, not squad deathmatch. I'm honestly not even sure how the squad rush mode will be any different than the rush mode from the beta and demo. Squad deathmatch on the other hand does sound really interesting. Hopefully we will be able to play against each other some.

Stupid, but at least it's temporary. That said, enough people will go for this to justify them doing it again and again.

Fuck EA and Gamestop. Someone pull up the Mass Effect 2 pre-order content chart to remind people how fucked up these two are.

Then bring up a chart on pre-orders and sales. The shit works because people keep jumping through whatever hoops to get what they are selling.

As far as this goes, it is one online mode. Not online play all together. The mode the squad-based rush mode. So the same mode we have been playing but it is limited to 4 vs 4 vs 4. I really don't see it as a huge loss for gamers and not exactly a huge win for Gamestop. It isn't a big deal. If it was online play in general or something huge like that, then it would be a big deal, but it is a non-issue. But you can go ahead and act like it is a huge gamebreaker.

So you mean like the LE being the same price as the Regular edition like BC2?

I can accept pre-ordering or buying games at release to get access to extra content but the recent trend of making DLC exclusive to specific retailers is ridiculous. This example just takes it to a entirely new level of stupidity.

Okay, this is interesting...so, what happens for those of us purchasing a US copy via Play-Asia? I don't live in the US, but does a US copy remain blocked until the 30 day block expires?

Uh.... yes?! I am not sure exactly what you are saying.

Amazon shows the LE edition as $55. Gamestop and Best Buy show the LE for $60. Seems like an Amazon only discount.

EDIT: I can't seem to find a 'regular edition'. I can only find Limited Editions. So then the LE is really just the standard edition.. it seems.

US Console Battlefield Bad Company 2 Players from Online Game Mode unless...

the fuck, is this coherent to anyone?

Also, this is really shitty. DICE had a golden opportunity to stick it to IW and they seemed like they were thrilled with the possibilities...now they can't stop tripping over their dicks.

Almost makes me not even want to buy the PC version because we should not stand for this.

I was actually going to buy BC 2 for PC to try it out but now I think i'll stick to AvP3.

it's 4 on 4 and 1 set of crates with infantry. i dunno about ticket count etc, but it's probably something people who don't like vehicles or snipers might like.

who knows... i guess we'll see at launch. or 30 days later.

yeah, you get the LE if you preorder. and i guess any shipments after launch will be the regular edition.

i wonder if the LE of BC2 will have different loading screens like BFBC1 did...

Isn't it safe to say this was a decision on EA's part?

I am utterly thrown as to how anyone entered this thread knowing what the hell it was talking about - that title is gibberish.
