Valve presenting something at Sony's E3 show?

It's starts with

"We will reveal our July cover this Thursday at 11 am central. However, it won't release until Monday night (after Sony's presser)"

That's not a joke.

Then he says (OP tweet) they have a feature on Valve who are at the Sony press conference.

There's a few jabs in between, but I don't think the "Editor-In-Chief of Game Informer" is joking about articles in their magazine.

How are people still not understanding the context of the tweet?

It started with this:

We will reveal our July cover this Thursday at 11 am central. However, it won't release until Monday night (after Sony's presser)
To this:
Let's just say we have information we can't share until after the press conference, if you want to believe it's a Sony game that's up to you
People presumably begin questioning why it won't be released until after Sony's conference and he responds with:
Perhaps, it's a game from a third party that is just showing it at the Sony press conference..or maybe, it's an indie game...chew on that =)
And then the tweet in question:
Maybe its an Xbox One game, but we have a feature on Valve that's presenting at Sony (I'm starting so many rumors with this one)

He was just throwing out random scenarios that could explain why they're waiting until after Sony's conference to release the issue.

So the Valve part is also a joke?

Everything was just him making up random scenarios to explain why they're waiting for after Sony's conference to release the issue since everyone began to assume it's a Sony game.

He's trying to get the rumour mill churning, but I don't believe "we have an article on Valve" as being a random scenario form the editor of a magazine.

That's exactly what it is. He's not saying they have an article on Valve. Read the tweets in order.

Would be pretty awesome!

After taking a few minutes to hype up the progress and imminent release of Playstation Now and the PS4's streaming capabilities esp. in terms of controller latency...

*lights go out for a moment, then a big 'ole Steam logo appears on the screen. Off to the left, controlling the UI and demoing a game being streamed via the Steam App, sitting in the yosp chair from Gamescom, is Gaben.*

Boom. Headshot City.

pretty much.

I wouldn't be surprised if TF2 Free to Play makes it to PS4 maayyyyybe Xbox One (I'm not saying maybe because of hardware its just how Gabe seems to roll) so who knows about that one. Either that or a Left 4 Dead 3 announcement. But this is all assuming they are even going to announce anything at E3 and not Gamescom instead. Most likely going to see some booth or something with Dota 2 International advertising.

I read the tweets in order, and that last tweet does not ring of the same hypotheticals as the others.

"It could be a third party"
"It could be a Sony game"
"We have a Valve feature"

See the difference?

yea seems like he does not want to reveal anything until after the conference. Imagine releasing it before Sony's conference, attention will be taken away from Sony and Sont wont be happy.

So is the tweet about valve then? or just a random game?

Edit: Will the game be at any of the conference?

I read the tweets in order, and that last tweet does not ring of the same hypotheticals as the others. Besides, Valve could be described as a 3rd party and a indie (they publish their own games).

"It could be a third party"
"It could be a Sony game"
"We have a Valve feature"

The valve comment was attached to tue Xbox one comment.

Nothing is happenimg with valve, so far as we/they now. It's all hypothetical

So why mention Valve? More specifically, why not say "it could be a Valve feature"? It's incredibly specific considering the vagueness of his previous tweets.

Yes it is a hypothetical. This is how I read it.
"The game could be an Xbox one game too(mutiplatform) but presented by Valve at Sonys conference."
He's pretty much just saying that it doesn't necessarily have to be a Sony exclusive just because they're announcing it after Sony's presser.

I could be wrong though. I hope I'm wrong. I really want L4D3 on Ps4.

Personally I think that with the Naughty Dog interview recently that the cover will be Uncharted 4, and the rest is just him not being able to confirm or deny it, so he threw out random scenarios to have fun with people.

And judging this thread, I think a lot of people will be disappointed next week if they are expecting something megaton when it will probably just be an Uncharted GI cover they have to wait for the E3 reveal to show first and an interview

Could be a multi-platform game but its appearing at Sony's conference, which could also be why they're waiting specifically after Sony's conference to reveal their cover.

I wonder what would happen to gaf if half life 3 was announced and comes to ps4 6 months before pc
not happening.

valve could announce half life 3 at sony's e3 though. valve doesn't have its own conference and look at what happened to that 10-min steambox "conference" where the hype lasted longer than the whole thing.

at e3, they are instantly playing to 2+ million peeps watching online plus the 6000 people inside the auditorium which includes nytimes, cnet, bloomberg, etc. and an international games media presence.

SMH at some of the posts in this thread, even hypothesizing that Valve would release one of their most important IPs on something other then their own distribution network first.

Thats like saying Microsoft is going to release the newest Halo on the PC 6 months before the Xbox One or Sony releases Naughty Dogs next gen game on the PC first before the PS4.

Edit: And the most logical conclusion occurs, its all joke in the end.

Valve doesn't have a conference, they have to pick either Sony or MS. He likely made it thay way to dispel Sony exclusive, and those are what there are aside from Nintendo.
Basically, damage control. They said a tad too much a bit too soon

I don't think Valve would be grasping for exposure for a Half Life 3 reveal, those conferences are not how Valve likes to communicate with their fans. Remember, this is a company who's founder casually confirmed Source 2 when some fans met him in the lobby.

Quick someone write a fan-fic about Gaben announcing HL3 at Sony's presser.

It's the end of Sony's conference. Everyone has spoken already and there were some amazing moments. We were searching for our jaw after seeing Uncharted 4, then we were searching for napkins after The Last Guardian was shown. But now it's over. We're happy and sad. Happy because it was good, sad because it's over now and we've only seen things that were rumored. No gigaton, no super secret game. Now, when the audience has been tortured by joy and sadness, there's the and. Or is it? All the lights go off, doors are closed, people in the audience start panicking, confused about what's happening. Then something appears, a sound. Some kind of noise. First it seems unfamiliar, then after the brief moment of fear goes away, it becomes obvious that it is the well known sound of the portal, immediately followed by the speech of G man, lecturing us about the insignificance of our lives. We're shocked. We don't have words. No nothing. Tears begin to form in the corner of our eyes. Then it's over. Lights are on again and Gaben's on the stage.

"It's coming" -he says.

Then it's over. Gaf will never be the same again. It may survive the blast, but the wound caused by this glorious and terrifying moment will stay there forever.

yes, but source 2 isn't half life 3.

any exposure is good exposure. no one is going to be a hippie thinking, "we don't care we so popular #yolo".

if they are going to announce it, might as well do it through a platform where millions of people tune in.
