Valve releases Source Filmmaker beta (Up: Now open for everyone!)

THIS is why the Saxxys haven't happened yet, people. Valve wants everyone to get used to SFM first, THEN make their Saxxy entries.

would make sense, though last year only videos recorded with the in-game replay system counted I think. I had a 2007 TF2 video with like 300,000 views or something and I could not enter that one into the contest.

Though allowing SFM videos would be pretty cool. But I think it would be too late to still do it this year. People need a lot more time to learn how to use it I would say.

Yeah, it was Replay only, though it would be daft of them not to allow SFM this year. Replay was brand new when the first Saxxies happened, so I think they were trying to promote that.

I'm going to call Valve and demand that they shut down Steam and any Valve products out of the shelves at local electronics stores all across the US to protect my children from this filth. >:(
 
Using the tutorial to try to lipsync with the catwoman model, but I guess that's not possible with the automatic way since it's not a model suited for it? She just keeps her mouth straight shut. And I'm not really good enough to do it manually I think.

Lmao, trying to animate her legs and her eyes go in and out at the same time!
 
Anyone else just have white in the playback area instead of video? The timeline loads fine and I hear audio when I hit play, but the Primary Viewport is just white...

Models have to be rigged for lipsync. You'd have to modify catwoman in a supported 3D program first, and import it back into filmmaker.

For the w_knife model you can't, just a static model. At best you can take v_knife_spy and try hiding the spy arms. For the meet the spy short, I imagine they either just did that or had a separate version with movable handles.

I think I saw in the tutorial or another video somewhere about valve making it and the knife wasn't static I think. Not sure though.

There's only two versions of the default knife model with the game. The w_ model, which is the version you'd see another spy holding, and the v_ model, the one in your first person view. The w_ model literally doesn't have the joints to be animated in that way if you wanted to and the v_ model's arms are bound to any of the bones of the knife so they'd be too hard to move out of frame. You may be thinking of an earlier SFM promo where they briefly showed the meet the spy project open with the motion curve for the knife displayed.
