Vita a virtual no show at Sony conference

I think my standpoint is why in the fuck would anyone rebuy a game like Rogue Legacy after I've already bought it on discount simply to play it on a handheld.

That's my position but people like doing that. Reason why people buy a bunch of devices to emulate the same NES/SNES/GB/GBC/GBA games they have played a thousand times.

There are no selling points for the vita.

Better screen. Better controls. Instant suspend / resume. Handheld.

I've bolded the one that really matters to some people, and is totally lost on others.

Yeah, the biggest plus of a game having a Vita version to me is that I can play it on the subway when going to/from work. There's a shitload of games I've played on Vita that I'd never have gotten around to if they were only on consoles.

It just isn't a factor in their AAA plans. It's a PS4 extender, a killer way to play indies, and you'll get a trickle of niche titles, mainly from Japan.

It's no more dead than it was 12 months ago.
ive noticed your attitude towards the vita have been more negative lately, its mor realistic sure but still more negative then what you use to say

All except for suspend and resume are subjective. Better screen, no, better controls, also no, and handheld isn't a benefit for me. Objectively there really isn't a reason to pick up the vita version over any other version unless you're in the small group that those features matter to. Hell, being portable is a negative for me because of the smaller screen.

Yeah, Sony doesn't give a shit anymore. I love my Vita, I love the games on it and I love having access to a huge backlog of PSone/PSP games. What I don't love is how poorly Sony is treating it and how I have to worry about the performance of every second game. Metrico came out last week and it runs like drek, slowdown literally every 2-3 seconds.

No real argument from me, but you do realise that by definition you're also only being subjective.

I'd feel so much better about the bolded if the memory cards weren't so damn expensive, but that's well-tread territory.

Well that's that then, ain't it. In that case, there's no reason for you to play games on the Vita. I'm in the opposite boat, to the point where I mostly play my PS4 games over remote play.

I used to exaggerate for comic effect but so many people thought I was deadly serious that I stopped.

I know I'm being subjective, but this started due to a poster saying that the Vita version is usually the superior version of the game, of which there is no objective example of that being the case. The only reasons to purchase these multiplatform games, most of which will run on are on literally EVERYTHING, on vita are subjective to some users. These aren't reasons for Sony to invest in vita. If these reasons matter to you, then you most likely own a vita, and if they don't, then why buy one?

There are no selling points for the vita.

Got my 9 y.o. son the light blue one for his-bday two weeks ago.

He freaking LOVES it.

His head explodes while he tells his cousins about it.

"Dad, Sly Cooper is awesome! Can I get the SC collection? And are you going to buy the Ratchet and Clank collection?"
if not cross-buy I'll wait for Plus

But the one thing that Sony could really push for Vita, if they would just BELIEVE, is a whole LEGION of 8-12 year olds who have only played Minecraft on a PC or touch screen iDevice. My son is ITCHING to play Minecraft with buttons. HE..CAN'T.WAIT.

Seriously Sony, for the love of REVENUE, GET with Mojang on a Minecraft Vita or a bundle. If you wait until the fad is over... Then you really dropped the ball.
if you haven't enough already

Rebuying late ports of games so that they can be played on the go isn't a huge selling point unless they have mad disposable income, you realize?

I'm sure there are a lot of handheld owners, that don't play most of their games on a desktop PC.
Nothing for you on that list? Even the exclusive VITA stuff? Welp, too bad for you.
VITA is nothing for you then, as it seem.

I sold my Vita last month anyway.

But one game I wanna complete is Persona 4 Golden. Is it possible to play this one on PlayStation TV? And with the physical edition?

There was a Vita card port on the Vita TV in Japan, dunno if its still there. That and I don't know if P4G is one of the compatible games on it. It probably is.

Not surprised and the Tearaway thing makes me think my long running prediction that Gravity Rush 2 will be on PS4 will definitely come true and probably at TGS. I love my Vita, though. It's still getting exclusive games that I desperately want to play.

while i enjoyed the game since it was my first time playing it, that game is a port. a port is not a a selling point; ever.

It's essentially a port + expansion pack + feature update patch. There's plenty of new content & the gameplay has been improved in various ways. It's well worth playing, even if you've already spent 100+ hrs on the original game.

You're right. Why should I get a PS4 when I don't care about most of these modern IPs (and the ones I care are on PC already)? For "comfy couch gaming?" Thanks, but that shit doesn't matter for me.

For the record, I'm hard on the vita because I love the little handheld. It does have a great screen and the potential to have some great games, but that potential was lost a long time ago I guess. I'll hold on to mine just because I never sell consoles, but as is I only turn it on every few months, and when I do I just kind of sigh.

Vita is the best handheld I've ever had. So many awesome games which I wouldnt have played till now. I daily play 60 minutes minimum to and from work and next week Sword Art Online will release and will also consume my life like Demon Gaze, P4G, FFX/X-2 etc.

God I love this thing.

I agree, why should you get a PS4 when you can get games on PC and don't care for modern AAA gaming? If you don't, then don't buy one. The entire point of that post was that what vita offers isn't for everyone and doesn't even have mass appeal. It's turned into a niche and indie machine, if you like that kind of thing, go crazy.

I totally adore my Vita. I think it's the best handheld console ever made. If it had killer franchises like Nintendo's and also didn't have to compete with smartphones, it would be flying off the shelves. Pity that's not the world we live in.

I was considering a Vita for Persona 4 Golden, but I decided to download the PS2 Classic version and save myself a few hundred bucks. There isn't a single other Vita game that interests me.

Why are they even releasing the playstation (vita) tv in the west? lol

Even the bigger games like FFX/X-2 (NA/Asia/PAL copies) don't work lol

I don't get it. What were people expecting? The system is a indie/port machine in the west, and Japanese games weren't going to be announced. A price drop wasn't going to happen because it would only lose them money.

Shahid trying to defend his team and such on twitter from people insulting him and stuff, which insulting him personally you should never do. But he doesn't get why people say "The Vita is dead" when he says watch the PSBlog for announcements....PSBlog isn't marketing....the huge stage that was the briefing should be where great games are announced not the slew of constant crap from the same game we've seen over and over and over and over and over. I'm sick of destiny, Far Cry, just all of this crap.

Never understood why people attack Shahid and team. They're genuinely the only guys who actually give a crap about the Vita in the West.

People told me for years that the PSP was dead and it was goldmine of game for me. It's going to take a lot more than this for me to not enjoy owning a Vita.

Wait FFX/X2 HD doesnt work on the Vita/Playstation TV?

Welp.
The funny thing being the asia/hk region 3 versions, which are just the na versions on retail on two seprate skus, have "works with ps vita" on the back of the box... but alas it does not.

Killzone mercs was suppose to get ps vita tv suppprt back in may...

Here's the thing. It isn't the systems fault, or games really, it has those. I literally haven't met a Vita owner that doesn't love theirs. All of my friends that has one loves it. I love it. My buddy at work loves his. But damn is it not selling. It makes me sad.

Yeah, people don't really seem to understand threads like these aren't made because it's a surprise Sony ignored the vita, but that it's a damn shame that they do so.

Sure, it's great that they're 100+ indie type games coming out. But the zero exposure the device gets from Sony at their major conferences almost ensures that the vast majority will never hear about it, thereby entrenching the system as a permanently dwindling niche product.

That's why those blaming 'the market' for the vita's demise are out to lunch. It's not the public's job to advertise a company's product.

As long as the Vita continues to play PS1-era JRPGs and allows me to moderately enjoy annoying business trips it will be alive to me.

Never understood why people attack Shahid and team.

I don't know why anyone attacks anyone but, Shahid does tend to umm overblow stuff? It doesn't matter if there are 2 billion games (90% of them are on or coming out on PC) in development if they don't get any exposure. If they aren't first party they probably won't get it anyway.

Lots of people, including me, bought a Vita to play it. So you're wrong.

Well I think buying a console for one game is silly without some other reason. Then again here I am again with a Sony handheld again, being the Vita and ended up disappointed.

I bought the PSP for Valkyria Chronicles 2, there is some other games I got for it thankfully as well but then...well Sega.
