******* vs. David Jaffe - Meltdown

:lol :lol Thats awesome! I love Jaffe because of stuff like this. Love him or hate him you have to respect a person who is in the spotlight but not afraid and has the balls to speak his mind like a human being rather than canned robot PR responses.

Wow...

I love the stuff Jaffe puts out, but the constant tirades of madness are getting a little childish. I sincerely respect his willingness to put himself out there, but this is out there.

Still looking forward to Calling All Cars, and probably any other projects the Jaffsters got on the back burners anyways.

I like Jaffe. He's made some great games, but whats endearing about him is he comes right out and says what he's thinking. It's a breath of fresh air. I know a lot of people don't like developers with attitudes like Jaffe's, or Itagaki's, but I respect them for speaking their mind.

Spotlight = (relatively speaking) fame and fortune, right ? This is something to be afraid of ?

Normally when you're famous or important you have to always watch what you say for PR reasons.

J.oystiq is pissing off a lot of people nowadays. Does anyone like them?
If a website has a certain editor I hate... I stop going.

Vlad Cole for Joy.stiq made me leave.
Robert Summa made me leave Destructoid.

You can't ignore their posts, because they piss you the f*ck off. So I just stopped going there all together.

GAF is slowly becoming my only necessary location for gaming news and conversation.

Oh man, massive XBL flashbacks reading Jaffes rants, at least he didnt drop the nbomb.

Great Stuff, but why even bother with Joy.stick?

gaming blogs simply repeat what they read on GAF. I swear 10 minutes after a new thread is out I see the exact same headline on my RSS aggregator

Sure, but praising him for 'speaking his mind' bespeaks some criminally, surely harmfully low expectations of developers, and I've never understood why people love him for swearing.

On one hand his post does seem like an overreaction to *******'s small smartass comment about the delay, on the other hand Jaffe seems to feel passionate about Sony given that he works for them, and we all know what ******* is like when it comes to PS3.

******* sucks IMO though and this rant was entertaining, so go David :)

As much as I like that there's a developer who's willing to call journalists, or pseudo-journalists, on their BS, and who will actually say what he thinks instead of just repeat the corporate-talk like most of them do, whenever Jaffe gets angry he just sounds like a child. Too bad.

How can text sound like anything?

Jaffe can speak his mind because:
1. He is behind some great games
2. He loves his job - he cares about his games. From one side, he can criticize blogs, and from other he apologises to his gamers and he fixes shit that people complain about.

So yes Jaffe... you can speak your mind as long as you are doing great games and are listening to the gamers.

Stop screaming so loud... I have a headache.

I don't see why everyone's so eager to pat him on the back for this. I mean, he took their bait - hook, line, and sinker. It's no secret that he's got a short fuse, and it's fairly easy to push his buttons. In this case, J.oy.stiq was Jim throwing the cell phone into the ceiling and calling the number, and Jaffe was Andy flipping out and punching a hole through the wall.

F**k you, guys. Go f**k yourselves. What other developer makes a ****ing change to a game when a review (IGN's in this case) has a good, valid point and is willing to open the f**king code up at the risk of more bugs to make the game better?

I hope K*taku f**king puts your ass out of business, wanna be f**ktards. And if you were actual journalists you would have read the motherf**king quote I posted on NEOGAF where I said because of the two bugs we needed to fix (not because I was afraid of the bargin bin) we had a window of opp. to fix the magnet problem. A**holes...total f**king a**holes.

Awesome :lol

He is falling further down into madness....

But he makes a good point lol. it's big of him to admit there was a shortcoming and go back in and fix it. I wish more devs would do the same.

I still stand by my Internet Troll #1 comment though

Respect for Jaffe: +1

What kind of idiot could complain about Jaffe FIXING a bug in a game? ffs he should be given a medal for risking the publisher backlash and caring enough about his game to fix it. 99% of other publishers would just ignore the review and leave the bug in the game. Jaffe is one of the few industry folks who actually cares about his reputation.

I never had a problem with ******* before but...omg they are stupid.

Because his name doesn't rhyme with Jennis Jyack?

But really if it was anyone else, I bet there'd be a much different response. ("Just shut up and work on the game!" "Just shut up and give me 4xAA!" "Just shut up and write some decent ****in' dialogue!" et al.)

Jaffe shouldn't take it personally, not a single IQ point went into Joystiqs post, they just know that drama = publicity.

Meh, what can I say, free promotion for CAC and Jaffe has some good points for recalling the game. But heck, the game was gold, finished etc etc. Is this the difference between live certification and psn's?

Yup.
