Wasteland 2: Director's Cut |OT| Post-Apocalyptic, Post-Release Remix

Originally my problems with the game were mainly:
combat is a bit too slow
exploration is quite slow, especially if you have to back track

I'll probably give it another shot. I did get somewhat far the first time. But really the thing I hated most was having to retrace your steps at times because your group moves so damn slow on the local maps.

You'll have both versions of the games show up in your library. Just find the right one.

Okay, found it.

Thanks.

Might try myself to this with some birthday money.

Could it be compared to Divinity in the way it plays?

It's somewhat similar in the basics, but Divinity has a much better combat system.

Wasteland 2, at least in Vanilla, played sort of like a fairly basic XCOM EU riff in combat, though without abilities.

Divinity is a much more up to date style of turn based combat. Whereas Wasteland 2 is really basic, although I guess the update may have made it better so I'll have to see how that turned out to judge it again.

So in the same vein as XCOM and Divinity?

Sounds right up my alley tbh, might wait on impressions. Can get it for really cheap off the Brazilian store on XB1 too

Combat is basic?, how so, does it detract from the game?

It's basic in that you've got your weapons to shoot, you can do overwatch, take cover, and use items. Can switch to a secondary weapon, need to reload, that's it for the most part, and some of those systems are a little rough around the edges.

They added in Precision Strikes, a sort of VATS style system for targeting body parts too.

I'd say the combat does detract at times, it can feel like a bit of a slog at certain points with not a lot of variety. But it's not terrible, it's just not a big draw of the game for me.

Hmmm......a post apocolyptic, turn based, mash up of XCOM and (original) FO sounds right up my street...

Just a bit concerned about the posts about basic combat..........

To be fair, original Fallout games' combat was pretty basic as well.
And I think Wasteland 2 has more stuff going on in combat compared to those, no cover and overwatch.

I really enjoyed the 10ish hours i played of the original but mouse and keyboard is a total pain in the ass playing on my sofa. Looking forward to the controller support.

This doesn't excuse the last 8 years of shitty PSN prices.

Amazon had this up for £26 as a pre-order im not sure what it is now though.

I really don't know or care about PSN pricing. But it isn't as simple as you'd think since goods are not priced based on your concept of what is fair or "shitty".

Divinity =/= Wasteland 2

Divinity is a combat focused rpg, without choice & consequence and simple quest design, but with the best combat system ever seen ina an RPG.

Wasteland 2 is totally the opposite, worse combat system, but as an RPG is awesome, great choice & consequence and great quest design.

It has a excellent level design in some areas too.

So the current currency market is the excuse for the pricing. So I will wait until it changes and be perplexed how we don't see any change in our favour.

8 years of precedent is being negated because it "isn't simple".

Amazon you crazy bastards and your crazy prices.

Sent a polite tweet to Brian Fargo to see if the camera is intentionally set the way it is or if it's a possible bug? I'm sure they knew it may have gotten some feedback from the get go.

Am interested in this. Will sub to see what happens. Have on PC but would go again on PS4 for comfortable wasteland action bit the view is important

I vaguely remember it being annoyingly high/straight-down when I first started playing the original a year ago. But I got used to it eventually.

Or is there an actual bug?

Terrible first imperssion from the PC version. First, they completely changed the camera angle and it is TERRIBLE now! I assumed it was done becuase of console version because it's much lower to the ground and I wouldn't even call it truly isoemtric view. Just terrible. Second, screen tearing even with VSYNC on in the game and in the NVIDIA panel. Hurts my eyes scrolling screen with tearing line in the freaking middle of the screen.

Overall: what a joke.

I have to admit, the camera is kind of ruining it for me. I'm sure I'd get used to it sooner or later but for now, I think I'll just wait for a possible fix or a mod.

The camera isn't broken it's just not up to the standards of the original PC release and to be fair even there it was always one of the biggest gripes against the game most people had.

Which makes no sense. The camera is so much worse than before, even in the Director's Cut PC version. Wish they would've just left the old one in for PC.

I can't wait to find out what all the different quirks and perks are. I may end up changing how my party skills are arranged because of it.

Edit: The talk of the camera angles being worse makes me sad. At least in the worst case I still have the original game as well on PC.

Holy Shit the camera is fucking awful. The PC version seems a bit of a mess, crashing a lot either on start up or in game, RT on a pad won't bring up the wheel for me just pings the radio ( need to bring up the LT wheel then press RT) the controls in general feel clunky with a pad and it's not helped by the ridiculous camera.

Think I'll just uninstall it again.

Didn't even know this was dropping today. Then it appeared in my library. Already 45h into the game at the
beginning of L.A.
. So tempting to restart and make different decisions for my party and squad members. But Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone released too .... so much RPG ... so little time ...

I got Wasteland 2 earlier this year and I did started playing it but then they announced this DC would be free to current owners so I dropped the game and waited for this to release.

I'm so ready to try this once I get home!

Too late now, I've brought it.

Not played the PC version, and must confess, not sure I read anything about the camera being a big deal in the reviews :-/

Alright, game is downloaded and ready (ps4 version), in a few hours I'll start and in a few more hours I'll probably restart lol
