Wasteland 2: Director's Cut |OT| Post-Apocalyptic, Post-Release Remix

Ugh, the camera's pretty bad. I'm gonna wait for Fargo to reply to that tweet to see if it's intended or not.

Yea if people are looking for some basic party tips:

- Focus each of your party members on a different weapon type. Ammo is relatively scarce, so having 2 characters sharing an ammo type is not a great idea.
- Melee combat is quite effective, don't be afraid to have a melee specialist.
- You'll want to have your party cover all the different skills (lockpicking, computers, demolitions, safecracking, etc...) so plan which characters are going to do what and focus them on those skills.

Thanks for the tips. I got about 40 hours into W2 before I stopped for this edition and the fact that I screwed up my party by spreading the skills too thin.

What order would you prioritize skills since I don't think you have enough party members to make each one a specialist?

It's really interesting to hear about the camera complaints being a person that didn't play the pc version, I never had any major issues with it aside from some minor quirkiness im 20 hours. You can zoom fairly out, or close up. Also there is a way to make it so camera control allows to sweep ahead, or behind instead of just rotating but clicking in the right thumbstick. Sorry it seems to be changed and for the worse from the original release.I had no idea personally.

Anyone got screenies of max settings on pc? I hate to admit it, but the visuals were a major sticking point for me. Character models, effects, lighting, textures, etc. Still excited, tho!

I watched a couple of vids on Youtube. Looks fine to me. I'm all over the PS4 version when Sony get there ass in gear and put it on the store.

Haven't played it myself yet, still downloading.

I quickly browsed the official WL2 forum and the Steam one. It seems the camera is a big issue for many ppl. They'll have to communicate about it and hopefully come with a fix.
Another issue seems to be heavy screen tear.

Minor issues I've noticed: sound quality of new voice overs suck.

i know this might seem blasphemous, but does the PC update include controller support?

In the OP. Controller support on PC and console.

I might give this another go now. Didn't enjoy the couple hours I played of the original, hopefully the rebalancing makes it more fun.

The camera is likely not an issue for console players, it's mostly an issue for PC players that have played the game before because the camera was plainly superior, so downgrading it makes little sense.

Seems like the camera has been adapted to consoles like Diablo 3, so it's ok...the problem is that the camera is the same in the PC version, that means is overly zoomed in for a keyboard+mouse controll.

Thank god they are working on ti right now.

Played the PC version with a PS4 controller, and i can confirm it, this camera for a controller support is ok, but not for a mouse.

And i have to say that the controller support for this game is great, a little slow but knowing that is an isometric rpg ported to a console i think they made a great job.

Kudos to Inxile in this area.

Hopefully the camera's a bug and wasn't intentional, looking forward to getting into this when I get home, and if the fix is out, hallelujah.

Oh so you have the XBO version? How is it?

Or wait are you just saying you own a XBO?

I've played on ps4 review code but have the xbox one version coming later. Not sure when it will here to offer thoughts before others do but I have heard nothing super negative or bad on that version.

Switching back and fourth between the PC and Xbox versions this morning. The Xbox version is noticeably more blurry. Not sure if it's resolution or AA or what.

I think they did a great job with controller support. Took me a while to get used to clicking the right-stick to change camera modes, but better than I expected.

Also this game is so good. Play it.

I'm in a serious pickle. I really wanna get this game. But I really wanna get Divinity: Original Sin. And I really wanna get Disgaea 5. And I'm definitely getting Fallout 4. Even putting money aside, that's easily a year's worth of gaming...I just don't know what to do.

Part of me wants to buy this and support the creators and get to it whenever. Seems pretty crazy though.

So I tested it (quickly) on PC:

- Controller Support is great (Xbox One, PS4 prompts)
- UI is great for couch incline
- Camera is really sucky (way too vertical, you don't see anything. Glad it's getting fixed)
- Unity 5 is an improvement

Not much else to say because it was just a quick look. Will wait for the camera patch and play some Hearts of Stone for now. But I'm already looking forward to play a turn-based cRPG with controller support on my TV. Sounds weird when I say it out loud ...

For those curious about the camera complaints, took some screenshots (spoilered for size) of the opening moment of the game

As you can see, they both zoom out to the same pattern of being fairly top down, but you get way further out in vanilla, so you can see a lot more stuff. You can also angle the camera a bit better with more view distance in vanilla.

It's also a good indicator of how much they've changed, forgot how ugly Vanilla is.

Edit: huh, for some reason having trouble posting screens. Links here:

For a game like this I doubt there is a diiference in both versions...its not a graphical powerhouse or anything...

Doesn't really matter when it comes to Unity games. The more ambitious they are, the worse they run, even if they're ugly. I have more trouble running Dreamfall Chapters and Satellite Reign than I do Witcher 3.

Unity 5 (which this was converted to) seems to be a bit better in this regard at least.

How the hell do you preemptively target an enemy before combat has been initiated with a controller? It always says "no targets" until combat starts so I end up walking into battle without positioning.

If you see the enemies ahead. Left click to do single character movement. Get them in position. Then use someone with longer shooting range and use attack on your action wheel.
