Wasteland 2: Director's Cut |OT| Post-Apocalyptic, Post-Release Remix

What order would you prioritize skills since I don't think you have enough party members to make each one a specialist?

Honestly the game does an excellent job of making sure *all* the skills are used a lot, so I can't really give a recommended priority.

It's only similar to Divinity in that it is turn based and has AP points really.

It's mostly like a smaller scale XCOM in combat. And it has a lot to do outside of combat, similar to the Fallout games, like skill checking to disarm a bomb, open a lock, talk to people, etc.

I think I'm ready to restart, not having both leadership and perception on my "leader" is causing me problems. I hope they release more portrait art for the Ps4 version :)

Downloading this now, maybe ill finally give it a shot. I need something to hold me over until Fallout

Idk what Divinity is.. but an open world, post apocalyptic game with similar gameplay to XCOM sounds too good to be true.

It's like Xcom in that they are both turn based combat , but the comparison ends there. The general consensus was that vWasteland 2 had terrible combat but the other parts were solid.

BF sez: I'm told that the PS4 version will go live sometime between 11-2 PDT.

Wow... makes it seem like me getting the physical version from Amazon means i won't even get it that much later than if I bought digitally. Sony, this is not how you treat digital if you want people to convert. I, as some one who prefers physical, will admit one advantage to digital is getting the game right away when it comes out. Doing this takes away one of the few big advantages I see of digital games.

The game was up on the Xbox store digitally to preorder since at least yesterday. I saw it. I could have had this preordered but maybe it isn't Sony's fault but the pub.

According to my local Amazon branch, I won't receive the game until the 22th... The game releases this Friday here.

I hope they aren't doing this in purpose with small games because this already happened to me with Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence for the PS4. In contrast, for MGSV they even sent me an email a few days before to reassure that I would have it on release day.

And this isn't why I pay Prime, I pay it to have all the games that interest me on release day, whether they're big or small.

Well xbox is known for a better digital store. I'm just pointing out why that would be so... I still prefer physical for other reasons but I do admit I'm jealous of the get to play the game from midnight of the launch day. Which Sony just ruined by not even having it available 'til mid day (UPS is promising me I'll get my game before 3. We'll see).

how do we know if its the director's cut? the main screen still just says Wasteland 2

has it not been patched yet?

Holy shit, I picked "Raised in a Circus" for my leader character's quirk and she started the game dressed as a clown hahaha

Which you cannot remove.

I started the game with him and decided I don't want to be looking at a clown for 60+ hours and had to restart with a different perk.

I won't get to start this until later tonight...

Can someone post some of the quirks (along with the negative and positive) they have seen so far?

Also, the perks, any of them stand out?

The character creation is really overwhelming, will I be good if I just use the pre made characters?

Anyone have a changelist for the enhanced edition? I want to know exactly what they did to weapons. The armor changes sound ok.

So the current currency market is the excuse for the pricing. So I will wait until it changes and be perplexed how we don't see any change in our favour.

8 years of precedent is being negated because it "isn't simple".

Amazon you crazy bastards and your crazy prices.

I did not say it is because it isn't simple. Please take your angst out on someone else. I have nothing to do with the reason you are angry.

Most of them have a few wasted points but should be doable. I'd personally go in and change any that start with melee skills unless you're dead set on a melee character, you're too squishy at the start of the game for it generally.

I didn't look too closely at them though. Just make sure you have at least one character with surgeon skills.

And really it doesn't hurt to have 2 surgeons, one as your main with probably some field medic points, and one person with a single point in it in case the one that needs reviving is your surgeon.

Does this have similar sort of gameplay to XCOM Enemy Unknown ?

Not too much. They are both turn based tactical games in combat, but the whole Strategy layer is gone and replaced by a really good RPG layer. The combat isn't as good as XCOM.

One thing I don't understand about the console reviews. If the option screen allows the player to increase the text size (based on gamer confirmation a few pages ago), why do some reviews chalk up small text as a negative in their write-ups? Does the increase affect all of the UI text, or just parts of it?

The biggest text option is still fairly small.

Thanks for this

Any other beginner tips people have would be welcomed

liking what im seeing so far, just walking around the starting town talking to everyone and shit, havent actually done any combat yet.

I went with the default squad, I wasnt in the mood to create 4 characters especially when I dont know the systems. Hopefully it will be fine /shrug

Disclaimer: Haven't checked out the character creation differences yet, so these tips are based on the original version.

My suggestions:
  • Everyone should have an INT of at least 4. Skill points are very useful. At least one person with INT 8 is good (probably your #1 surgeon, as higher ranks in that are limited by INT IIRC).
  • Luck isn't that useful. Low luck can cause critical misses which are bad, and high luck can give you bonus AP in battle, but neither is reliable.
  • Charisma is only useful for one character, although your party's aggregate charisma can affect some things. Put CHA only on your character with leadership skill. Dialogue skills are independent of CHA and do NOT all have to be on the same character.
  • Weapons are not created equal. I've heard they re-balanced weapons, but in the base game (weapon effectiveness spoilers I guess)
pistols stop being useful around ~10h in. Rifles of both kinds are good throughout. Melee isn't very useful early on, but gradually becomes useful.
Do make sure to diversify so your team can make use of various ammo types.

If you're going for 8 then you might as well go for 10, you get an extra skill point per level for only 2 points invested.

It's probably not a bad idea to give 10 int to your charisma guy and put various lockpicking/demo/safecracking skills on him so he'll get bulk of the XP from performing various contextual actions.
