Been listening to:

Fionn Regan - The Bunkhouse Vol. 1: Anchor Black Tatoo
Tame Impala - Lonerism
Ultraísta - Ultraísta
Sophie Hunger - The Danger of Light
The Entrance Band - Latitudes Session
Bloc Party - Four

Glad that some of you liked stuff I posted!

Gonna have to add the new Converge: All We Love, We Leave Behind. It's excellent! One of the better albums I've heard this year. Wouldn't surprise me if it was a top 10. Definitely check it out if you're into metal/punk.

And the new Godspeed you! Black Emperor (omg)

Last.fm has been getting me miffed lately. I wish there was a way to ban certain tags. If your artist has "soundtrack" anywhere it will ignore all other genres and only play other soundtracks.

JUST LEAKED OMG OMG OMG

"Ecce Homo" is without a doubt the finest rock song ever recorded. I have literally listening to nothing else this entire day.

The.

Whole.

Day.

Don't wanna be evicted
from
the wonderful underworld

This was a great listen for tonight:

Loved her debut. Apparently her followup, Tender New Signs, comes out on the 16th. Mexican Summer is such a great label.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I was just listening to debut a few days ago. I go to sleep to it on repeat. So so excited

AAAAAA CAN'T WAIT.

I've been listening to those first two singles non-stop. Got to see them play literally right in front of me at PS1 a few years ago.

Jaw dropper.

Only a few songs in but it's great so far.

Love these guys! Also need to check out the new Godspeed

How am I the first person to post this?

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!

I'm really digging this. I've been listening to it on repeat all day. I especially love the intro on "We Drift Like Worried Fire". It gives me a huge Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross vibe. I think I even like it more than Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven.

That new Tame Impala really hits the spot. Just as good as Innerspeaker on first listen, been a while.

Just got back from the Godspeed show. I picked up the vinyl and hope to listen to it when I get home from work.

your avatar is amazing

Thanks, I try.

Just got Local Business by Titus Andronicus and Kaleidoscope Dream by Miguel. Haven't heard them yet though.

I think C&C's album just leaked but I barely have any interest. Guess I'll check it out anyway, who knows.

wait what? new godspeed?????? :o

those have been on my rotation for the past 2 weeks. good stuff.

Okay guys, listen to the new Tame Impala album "Lennonism." It's this excellent beatles throwback except 10x more psychedelic w/ these giant soaring sonic-guitars. I enjoyed Innerspeaker from 2010, but this album has 3x the consistency/potency imo. Also, seems less eclectic & derivative; the band seems to be doing their own thing, especially in terms of lyricism: the whole thing acts a companion to isolation. I think that's what the album art is supposed to represent, too. Caged in from people? I'm not sure. Whatever, this album is great.

IT FEELS LIKE I ONLYYY GO BACKWARDS

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying Local Business ,but it's missing the Americana-ness that I loved so much about The Monitor. I thought that was going to be sound they would continue to use. They are still rocking out, unfortunately with less of a Bruce Springsteen feel. It also sounds like Patrick cleared his throat. Good, just a step down.

Local Business doesn't have the ambition or scope of The Monitor, but it's still more of a focused, less messy record than their debut. I do love how the record unspools itself over time, losing energy and slowing the tempo. I'm surprised that you're not hearing the Springsteen; I'm hearing that and a bunch of different influences. The album has a very classic rock/punk feel to it, which is exactly the record that Stickles & co. wanted to make. I'm glad they didn't do another concept album because--let's be fair--they won't ever make one as good as The Monitor. LB is (like you said) all about RAWKIN OUT.

Anticipating the release of Further Seems Forever's new album (reunited with all the original members, including Chris Carrabba). Releases on the 23rd.

Major nostalgia here. FSF was one of my favorite bands in highschool a decade ago and they were at their best with Carrabba (of Dashboard Confessional fame).

So Cold is the first single
Rescue Trained

Sounds like the proper evolution of The Moon is Down. Can't wait.

Its a gloomy day, sitting at work listening to this: Tokimonsta Midnight menu/creature dreams

I love asian woman. And the fact that this one makes awesome music means she should have been on Esquire. Not Mila. No, not Mila.

I think their debut was a mess as well, so I was shocked at how good The Monitor was. I think The Monitor will be considered their magnum opus when their career is over. I find LB to be slightly less melodic than The Monitor, upon further listening.

On a side note, I didn't really like Miguel's Kaleidoscope Dream the first time I heard it, but I'm really enjoying it now. Very smooth and intimate. He has a great "sexy" voice that really amplifies what he is singing. No big catchy pop hooks though, which I thought was weird, and the title track is a bit of a dud.

I think overall, yeah, The Monitor is better, but "Ecce Homo" is better than forty-eight The Monitors strung together, so it evens out.

Will someone give me some trap music recommendations? I've been fucking addicted to this shit since listening to that TNGHT EP--right now I've been checking out YouTube compilations, but I'd love to get some specific artist suggestions.

Some artists you need to check:

- Baauer
- Flosstradamus
- Bleep Bloop: http://soundcloud.com/bleep-bloop
- G Jones: http://music.saturaterecords.com/releases (fantastic album, and free! "N Judah" is a killer)
- Ta-ku: http://ta-ku.me/ (the Re-Twerk album is being played everywhere)

Tame Impala - Lonerism

Can stream the entire album at NPR

Woah, I only know one song from them but I love it ("It's not meant to be").
Listening now, I can already tell that I don't like the first one, but Track 2,3 and 4 are already really good. Especially 3, "Apocalypse Dreams".

The last thing I personally listened to was the Mars Volta Live Album,Scabdates. Not as good as their first two albums, but still a blast. Currently I have to save my money to get through, but once I get my payment at the end of this month, I'm ready to buy some albums. At least the new Grizzly Bear.

Best part from Gamelan/WeDriftLikeWorriedFire, imo.

Mladic's intro, from the start, up until around 7:50 (well, the whole first half of the song basically) is the best part of the album and definitely worthy of the band.

I still put it behind the main 3 albums though, it's better than SlowRiot, but not as rich as Yanqui, imo.

Been listening to Thrice's whole catalog. I'm suddenly sad they went on hiatus. Then again, they're like my age, so they'll probably be back in a few years.

I kind of forgot that this came out this year and how good it was. Glad I randomly clicked on it in iTunes. Also, I totally just realized that Victoria Legrand from Beach House sings on "Seven Stars".

listened to it at least 3x a day since last week.
wish i had just listened to it when i first heard Pumped Up Kicks instead of dismissing it.
