What can Nintendo do to stay relevant?

Mario is on a 36 year streak where every major installment has been well liked and sold well. Mario Kart is on a 29 year streak. Animal Crossing 20 years.

I think they will be fine.

But wait! I have some suggestions that will surely boost their profits:

1. Get a 3090 in every console, sell it at a loss
2. Sell their games at a loss, or for free
3. Rebrand: no more toys and shit. Hardcore, grown up aesthetics. The real money is with gritty first person shooters.
4. Stop releasing full games. All the major publishers now know you don't finish the game upfront, you release it in beta state and patch it as you go along, if ever.
 
Well they could create a profitable system that's selling close to 100 million units, open an entire section devoted to their IP in several theme parks around the world, sell millions upon millions of units of software with IP that made eras to the point most kids know those IP without playing their games, sell/license tons and tons of merchandise of that same IP. But they don't seem to be doing that, so I just don't know what they can do to stay relevant.
 
They should definitely continue dominating every month of sales like they're doing now on pace to have the best selling platform ever.

The thing with the gaming industry is that it's a pendulum system. It's cyclical, and Nintendo understands that thoroughly. Which is what will ensure their longevity in the end.

I don't think what they're experiencing currently will last forever, but they'll certainly not be gone forever. Even if they go into crisis.

For some people on here they never left nintendoomed status, they could sell billions & they'd still be trash in last place in their heads because "insert reasons"

Or go 3rd party like Sega.

Or go mobile.

Or go for a super powerful 8k console.

In all seriousness I would like a home console form factor at a reasonable sub £250 cost. Commit to 40 games over the gen that are not wii u ports or rom packs too. But hey ho, they are doing pretty good without my cash atm. It seems I am irrelevant.

Seems like you were not around here for the PSP or Vita launches, I won't even mention all the other handhelds that were "so superior to Nintendo's" and were erased from history.

Nah the steam deck is 40000x more powerful and there is a wall socket every 6 feet everywhere so battery life doesn't matter.
I mean which would you rather play Witcher 3 on??

WiiU birthed out the 10 million seller franchise, Splatoon, whereas the Switch got Ring Fit Adventure, also 10m and still counting.

Nintendo just needs to keep adding and releasing good releases for their franchises, not leaving out any of them next gen and beyond.

Nintendo will sell ten million Switch's in December alone.

Valve will ship one hundred and fifty thousand Steam Decks.

If I was a betting man, and Im not, the next big game everyone will be streaming or talking about will be, as it has been for years, on Steam. Deck or PC and that is simply a fact.
 
Keep being Nintendo. It's been working for them for 30+ years and their IP's have not slowed down. Their games are going to sell like crack regardless, the first party IP's weren't the problem with the Wii U either. And I keep buying them, so they're doing something right.

I don't understand these topics with how the Switch is performing.

Obviously Nin Pass. We know that the only way a video game company will be able to remain relevant in the future is through streaming/subscriptions.
 
Switch 2 with Lovelace or Hopper SOC plus 8gb ddr6 ram along with FHD screen. That will make them more competitive and 3rd party games will come to the machine.
 
They need a radical change of direction to match their competitors.

Peach throw away that pink dress and get some brown loose fitting cargo pants. A green vest and a shirt covering the shoulders. Stop smiling and make aggressive screaming faces whenever possible.
 
Another half assed mario sports title should do it. If that doesn't work take some of the features away from pokemon and make it so easy the game plays itself.
