Bad fashion. Garish colours and women “power dressing”
Pastel coloured clothes, thanks to Miami Vice! ...and shoulder pads for women. (they're coming back in fashion, btw)
Nah. I still enjoy silent films. You don't really need any context. Who the fuck wants to watch shows from these days stuffed with political shit, current events and memes? It'll all be unwatchable and dated as fuck. Even stuff from like a year or two ago is already dated.
Cocaine
Happy birthday to u!Well yeah i am 40 years old next week.
I listen to new music artists with the 80s flare, such as The Midnight. What's interesting is that the 80's is en vogue right now
Young peeps through college age girls are wearing mom-ish jeans around here at the moment. High socks are in too. That needs to go away along with mom jeans.
Has anyone made the " it's the eighties, do a lot of coke and vote for Ronald Reagan " joke yet? If not, here ya go.
The early 80's were a time of great optimism and a throwing off of the shackles of the grim and dysfunctional 70's. Unfortunately as the decade wore on the downsides of this great capitalistic explosion became apparent.
People who talk about how bad the 80's were need to look hard at the previous decade to understand the actual reality of how people felt at the time.
Totally this. (And i was a jock because I recognized the social benefit, but I was a secret nerd....) In a way, its better that more groups have gained acceptance, but with that acceptance the feeling of counter culture is lost making what was forged in spite of social pressure, special. What the breakfast club captures correctly about the 80s is that it was a time of power and conformity. There was a set way to be in the "in group." If you were not like that, you were a nerd and an outcast. Not like a nerd today, like actually an outcast. You had actual subcultures develop like punk, gaming nerds, D&D nerds, metal, all that stuff. And it was all very underground.
Give me the early 90s back. I've mentioned several times that I would trade modern technology for the affordability of living in the 90s in a heartbeat.
My First Computer! Only thing missing is the cassette player.
