What controller are you using on PC?

lZl6Cet.jpg

Once you go paddles you don't go back.

PS. the mouse is a g502 now.

Also, might wanna try getting some support for your driver issue. Or maybe try a diff xbox controller? That ain't normal. Never had that for a PC controller in all my years on PC.

Xbox One controller, Logitech F510, Hori Fighting Commander 4, Hori arcade stick with Sanwa buttons, Logitech G920 Racing Wheel with shifter (for simulation), Trust GTX 288 (for arcade racers), Saitek Aviator Flight Stick, Razer Chroma X Black keyboard and Razer Death Adder mouse for desktop PC, Logitech G510 and Logitech G502 mouse for laptop PC

The steam controller must not be good. Not one has said they use it here as a primary controller.

It has its utility.

It's great to have around as a secondary controller to use on games that don't have native controller support if you don't want to use keyboard and mouse.

The entire purpose of the PC experience is using KB/M.

Why can't you use the KB/M for games that call for it, and use the same machine like a console with a controller, even a TV too, when applicable?

Why this line in the sand? PC has access to more games than any ever platform ever, you really think KB/M is the best way to play every single one?

Edit: To actually answer the topic, I still use 360. I've used XB1 controllers a few times, but the whole thing just seemed less reliable. Some games that like the 360 pad get funky with XB1, and I just still really like 360. I've been tempted for a better d-pad, but the U Pro has me covered there.

I use a PS4 controller (great d-pad and the trackpad works great as a mouse pad for when I'm reclined away from my desk) and a Gamesir T4:

Most of the utility of the Xbox Elite controller for a fraction of the cost.

As others have alluded to, once you experience using buttons on the back of a controller it's hard to adjust back in games where you need the extra bindings.

It's one of the worst feeling controllers I've ever owned. The controller has a convex shape and feels cheap an hollow. It's got interesting features, but I'd rather not use it due to the shape of it more than anything. At least it's not super tiny.

8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus. Mostly for emulators.

It has both a rechargable battery and ability to take AAs (So Sony fans will hate it).

I usually just use my Switch Pro Controller, it's a bit of a pain to connect using Bluetooth, but it works...

There are games that need this I guess. I have a few games I'd like to try but they aren't playable. A few isometric games, a few other genres too. But not sure how often I'd use it. Very little most likely.

Yeh I use mine very little (maybe once or twice a year) but barely paid anything for it so don't mind.

OMFG WHAT IS THAT KEYBOARD..you must tell!
Here you go bro. Pretty pricey atm though...

EDIT: I found a site that sells them for way less for those that wan't one. They are out of stock though atm. You'll have to keep an eye out.

I don't know where you can get it now any cheaper as the realforce website now just directs to amazon. Maybe after all this Covid stuff the price will come back down to around $300 which is what I paid. But the popularity of these topre switches, and the classic color and style on this one... seem to just be increasing like crazy so it might just be the current price. 55g means that it has uniformly weighted keys @ 55grams of pressure. It's really nice.

I also bought a custom keycap for the space key from Massdrop, which has now changed it's name to Drop.

Careful entering that site. It's a deep dark hole of tempting deals on amazing stuff... You may never leave.

where is your numpad, you monster
Around a hundred dollars in that that -----> direction.

50/50. If a game is designed for controllers and doesn't benefit from changes to the control scheme and the right stick is a preferable choice, then I'm going to be better off not using the SC. Some games allow you to do fantastic things with it, but some don't support simultaneous M+KB and controller input so you're working with the 2nd best option.

Awesome keyboard, model?

I'm thinking of getting one TKL, now I'm on 60% - Vortex Pok3r RGB LE - it's amazing!

Also, I have Logitech G213 Prodigy but that one is shit in comparison.

My gamepad of choice on PC - Xbox One.

Mouse - Ducky Secret

I did buy a steam controllera while back, and I enjo using it. But I dislike the lack of default setup for each game. I can't be arsed to start from scratch for each game. I know you can load templates others have made but there's a lot of trial and error involved.

I now use an Xbox one controller which is great and I'm very used to it. But I do have the occasional issue with Windows not connecting straight way each time. Sometimes I have to remove the old device and add a new ones.
I've never had an issue with it disconnecting though

Dualshock 4.
Mostly works well, easy to connect, Steam has built in support for it and you can use DS4Windows for everything else. It's almost sad how Steam offers more customization options for my DS4 than my Ps4.
Only issue I have is that as of late mine keeps disconnecting every now and then. It's rare (maybe once every 5 hours) but still somewhat annoying. Though I'm not sure if it's the controller or my PC that's causing the issue.

The entire purpose of the PC experience is using KB/M.

The entire purpose of the PC experience is customization.

Want graphics over framerate? go for it. Want framerate above everything else? Go for it, want to find a good mid point between the 2? Go for it, something you don't like in a game? Mod it!, Want to play with KB/M? Go for it, want to play with a controller? Go for it, all the major ones are compatible, etc

I posted it in my last post. ^
Ah, missed it somehow.

I see it has topre switches, had HHKB Pro2 Type-S few years ago, also topre, great keyboard. But I somehow prefer Cherry Blues on my current Vortex, got used to them.

Also, was thinking of getting some custom caps for Vortex but eventually I gave up.

Beautiful keyboard you got man.

What weight where the toper keys on your HHKB? The realforce I have has uniform 55gram weighted keys. I think irealforce are the only keyboard that offered that weight in Topre aren't they? I've walked into a Fry's electronics store and tried all the mx switches they had, including the blues, and none of them felt as nice as my 55g. But I do have strong hands so that might make a diff.

Also, S SteveLorde I found a site that sells Topre keyboards at what looks like a reasonable price. This is the listing for the 55g's. You'll have to wait till the one I have is back in stock though if that's the one you want.

EDIT: Also, if you are looking for a light keyboard, this is not it. This thing is built like a tank. It's so solid that I seriously have it set in my head as one of the things I'd use as a weapon in a home invasion scenario if I needed to. I ultimately ended up getting this one because of the raving reviews of how well built and tough it was. When I invest money into something, I like it to last, and this is no joke something I'll be able to pass on to my kids someday.

Wired Xbox 360 controller. I trimmed around the D pad circle to make it a bit better (but not much) - but I try not to use D pad for it.
I want it to die so that I can play with some other ones, maybe - but it's built like a tank & survived many falls from the desk.

For some reason, I like Xbox type of layout better than DS type, and most PC games seem to support the Xbox 360 controller, so I'm content with it.
Of course, when I do remote play with PS4 Pro - I use DS4.

Wireless 360 controller with the better dpad on my gaming pc

Wireless Xbox one controller on my htpc.

Honestly, I don't remember, it's like 3 years since I switched to Vortex Pok3r, but I think it was 45g - not sure. I liked Topre a lot, that Type-S HHKB is with silenced switches which I liked at the time. Then my friend gave me his Vortex (I don't remember which exactly it was) with blues for test and it just 'clicked' with me (pun intended). Somehow i wanted louder keyboard and aluminium case sold me on it (it's heavy as a brick, literally), so I went and ordered one that I have to this day.

Although, TKL keyboard is something that crosses my mind here and there, maybe I'll change current one for it in a year or so. But I love this Pok3r bastard. Build quality is amazing, HHKB was phenomenal keyboard but aluminium > plastics.

Depends on the game and whether I'm playing solo or with the wifey. Solo I use a X1 elite or black scorpio X1X controller. I hooked her up with a couple of the Dawn Shadow X1 controllers. When we sit down to play I use a mixture of the aforementioned and/or a couple wired X360 controllers. We play a lot of co-op Dungeon Defenders on 2 separate computers (2x2 split screen), each of us controlling 2Avatars with 2 controllers. So if we get into a multi hour marathon session I like to use the wired 360 controllers to keep the battery recharge/swaps to a minimum. Still love the 360 controller. But the elite edges it out for solo gaming sessions.

I love the Xbone controller for most games that don't use dpad. Those sticks and triggers are just the best. Lately I've been using the SN30 Pro+. Pretty good jack of all trades controller. Good sticks. Decent dpad. Gyro. Can also be used on many other platforms. It has pretty much replaced my DS4 because it has most of its features and feels more comfy to me.

For dpad heavy games I pull out my SF30 Pro or Rock Candy Xbone controller. The Rock Candy one is pretty interesting. Bought it on a sale after my first Xbone controller started to drift. I expected nothing. Looks like a cheaper, shittier version of an original Xbone controller, and that's pretty much what it was. Unremarkable in almost every single way. But goddaaaamn that dpad. It's honestly one of the best I've ever used.
